AMC Desert Ridge 18 is known for its Prime Dolby features, offering an enhanced cinematic experience. It's a good idea to book tickets in advance, especially for new releases. The theater is located near a mall, providing additional dining options.

Great, comfortable theaters with nice cold air conditioning! The new theater chairs are really plush! Heads-up though, if it starts to magically recline by itself during the movie, its probably not your family playing a trick on you. Its just that you pulled your knee up to get comfortable and the engineer who designed the seat didnt think it would be a good idea to recess the adjustment buttons another 1 millimeter. They have this goofy system of paying for food at an island in the lobby where you come in and face the opposite way that you just came from. Then you turn back around 180 degrees, in order to go track down your food at what why I call, the warehouse. Its the place where youd normally expect to walk up and pay at a register except everything looks unfinished and pieced together. I never know whether to expect the box of pretzel bites Ive ordered, or two guys carrying a used mattress, offering curbside carry to my truck. The state of construction has felt half finished for the last 8-12 months and it kind of feels like an outdoor concert venue from the late 80s. Surprisingly, other than being comical, none of that bothers me. What bugs me is the high food & drink prices. If theres an item on the menu thats under $5, it hasnt been readily apparent to me. Due to this, we started eating dinner ahead of time in the mall and just bring our own, hidden drinks and snacks. Come on AMC, offer a value menu that doesnt include me signing up for something or having to buy cup.

I took this theater off my favorites list. Us and our friends really hate the recent changes and renovations. While the reclining seats are nice, there was not enough room left in the aisles to allow people to enter/exit while people have their seats reclined. This means everyone has to put their feet down, then back up to let people in/out. While reclined, my feet hit the wall in front of me and Im only 5 10". Concessions was a disaster. The whole self serve concept is a total fail! I wanted a large popcorn. There was only 1 left on the rack and it was only 3/4 full. There were no attendants anywhere near to ask for a fresh bag or at least fill that one up. After taking my bag of popcorn we waited over 5 minutes to get to check out. There were about 15 people ahead of us and only 2 cashiers. After checking out and while getting our soda I noticed they sent out 2 more cashiers to help. Speaking of soda, I applaud my choices at the serve yourself machines, but again, with a crowd of 10 people needing to get soda the wait time to get to a machine was excessive. Once there things slow down as you make your flavor choice only to be told it is out and now you have to start the selection over. Overall the changes are a disaster in our minds. We will no longer consider AMC for our movie experience. If you want to see how it should have been done go see a movie at the new Harkins Camelview at Scottsdale Fashion Square mall. That is our new favorite theater to attend.

I didnt go to a movie here but my experience yesterday with manager Nathan was one to praise and mention here. I was getting food with my sister at paradise cafe, when I finished my order I didnt see my sister until I looked and saw her outside helping an elderly lady whod fallen on her face and was laying in a puddle of blood. To make this long story short, after paramedics arrived and the woman became coherent. She was insistent to make her scheduled movie she already had a ticket for. The few of us who stayed to make sure she was ok, talked her out of wanting to make the movie and said wed get her refund for her. I went to the theatre and asked for the manager who was Nathan. He listened to the very random story and asked if the lady was still there and asked if he could come out with us (this incident happened in front of paradise cafe no where near the theatre) He came and immediately got on his knee to be at level with the woman sitting down. His compassion was more than I had seen in the entire paradise cafe of everyone staring through the window watching but not offering to help. He gave her her refund in cash and Nathan Shortly came back returning with a gift certificate for a movie, popcorn and soda on him. In a world full of spectators who just watch, Nathan went above and beyond with compassion and doing the right thing. It made this ladys day, which had turned into a dangerous nightmare.

ust moved to area and was excited to see there was an AMC with a Prime Dolby theater close to me. Prime theaters have more speakers and a bigger screen. It also has seats that pulsate with the action in movies. It really makes you feel the movie. I think the sound and screen is better than IMAX. This theater was as good if not better than the one in Dallas. Saw the new Capitan America and it was a great move and experience. I always buy my seats in advance to get the seats I want. I wouldnt recommend just showing up to see a new release. I bought my tickets for Sat afternoon on Wed. If you go to the first showing of the day its also a lot cheaper to experience Prime. I did not try the concessions this time so I cant comment on that. I did notice that there were less self kiosks then the AMCs in Texas. It wasnt a problem this time, but it could be if a lot of people were there at the same time. I will be back...very soon.

Took family and I myself to see a movie on Friday night after dinner. A couple behind us were extremely rude and wouldnt stop kick my 13 year old daughters chair. This couple was trying to intentionally trying to create a situation. I went customer service two additional times for assistance and no one to be found!!!! Bad enough our movie foe the night was not the greatest but neither was the staff. We never confronted the couple but my wife & I were very close to! The bottom line is there was NO SUPPORT from AMC when we needed it and we tried two times for reaching for help, the second time my wife went and she was gone for at least 15 min. upon her return she was disappointed there was NO STAFF AVAILABLE FOR HELP! WE WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS THEATRE. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ALL!!!

Now has reserved seating only, which means you have no choice when you go into the theater and find that you are sitting next some noisy folks, or in front of someone who is kicking your seat, or whatever. We prefer to choose our seats when we actually enter the theater. The other problem is when you are waiting in line for people to "choose their seats, " what do you think" "how about here?" Then asking the ticket sellers opinion. Takes forever, and when there is a line, annoying to all. Will not use this theater any more, too bad cause I like it otherwise, and it is closest to us.

My husband and I went to see a movie and we sat right next to an unfortunately loud guest who continued to make loud comments throughout the film. This was disturbing and irritating and we didnt know what to do. After the film, we went to guest services and explained what had happened and the supervisor was very kind and let us know how we could report it anonymously in the future- should it happen again; and he compensated two tickets for us to come back for a better experience next time. Thank you AMC for listening and caring!
