Excellent top-rated golf course that is best for intermediate or advanced golfers. Lots of trees and heavy vegetation line every hole, which gives it a country club atmosphere and feeling of isolation. The downside is that if you go OB, your ball is most likely lost. You have to be a relatively straight hitter off the tee, otherwise expect to lose a dozen balls or so. Water hazard on 3 holes, a few dog legs and a couple blind tee shots. The fairways and bunkers are always in very good shape. The greens used to be a lot better, but this year (2016) there seems to be a drainage problem that has slowed them down tremendously, and make the Par 3s prone to serious damage. Its no worse than any other public course, but this place used to have some of the sweetest and fastest greens east of the Sacramento River. The golf carts are average. Theres not a lot of elevation, so you could walk this course if you dont mind the distance. If you are playing later in the day or near dusk, bring mosquito repellant. This place is near the river and the mosquitoes can be intense, especially on the back 9. The grass driving range is very good. They replace the balls often enough that you are usually hitting quality range balls. They have a Player Development Program that allows you to pay one monthly price for unlimited range use and green fees at member rates. They have 2 very large practice greens and a practice chipping area with sand traps. They offer group lessons on the weekends for $15 and their teaching pros are great for beginners, youth, or adults. This is a great place to practice. The clubhouse and restaurant are great. The food is on par with most any course, with lots of hot options from the grill. Be sure to place your order before you tee off on the 9th, they have a sign with the phone number for your convenience. They have a "Double Play" option that allows you unlimited golf, cart, and driving range at this course and Turkey Creek. You could add Empire Ranch with the "Triple Play" option. Upgrade and include the whole family for just a little more. It also includes membership to Club Corps, giving you access to hundreds of courses nationwide for cart fee only. I would highly recommend this for the serious golfer that just isnt ready or inclined to private country club membership. This is a highly respectable public course at a great value.

After playing around 10 of the lower end courses in the Sacramento area, I can say without a doubt that Teal Bend is the nicest and my favorite. Most of the holes are surrounded by trees with challenging bunker placement and elevation features. This means that most holes are so secluded that you cannot see any of the others. Forget about players from the wrong fairway interrupting your game. Just played a twilight round and saw no other golfers the whole time, a wonderful experience. Incredibly scenic and very green. Course was in awesome shape. Course is on the long side with some narrow fairways.. Watch out slicers. Friendly staff and FYI rates on their site include a cart. The current levee construction has a few of the holes down, but this is no big deal. Highly recommended course.

for the price, this is a good round of golf. the fairways were not in the best shape, but the holes were interesting. the feeling of seclusion was also nice. the course staff should educate the players to fix their ball marks on the greens - there were many marks that needed to be repaired. one suggestion: the pro shop should order items that have california and/or sacramento on them as well as teal bend. when i am in sacramento, i will definitely make the drive to play this course again.

I do like this course. There are trees/ hazards lining every fairway so keep it in play. Greens are good the one problem I have with it is not every hole has tee markers which is completely bizarre. The course lines farms and an airstrip so I dont think anyone is walking on and taking them. Maybe the golfers as a souvenir? It is very strange

Interesting layout, great trees and wildlife, and the greens are kept in good shape. Weekend rates are slightly high for this tract, but definitely a recommended play in the Sacramento area.

Spots over watered, but better than if allowed to be too dry. Good playing conditions for middle of the summer.
