This is not a true IMAX theater. Regal apparently swapped an IMAX projector out in one of their standard theaters and declared it close enough to stamp it with the IMAX logo. If youve been to an actual IMAX screening, you will immediately see the difference at this place. Sandhills "IMAX" theater is just a standard-size screen with standard stadium seating like you can find anywhere else. True IMAX relies on near-vertical seating and its special screen aspect ratio to fill your vision and achieve its breathtaking effect. But here, it feels like youre sitting in the back seat of a car staring out of the windshield. Because the screen size is wrong for the IMAX aspect ratio, you can see black bars on the edges of the screen where they have forced it to fit on the screen. There is absolutely no "in your face" feel because of the incorrect seating arrangement, and they crank the volume way up perhaps to try to compensate for that. Make the trip to the Simpsonville IMAX instead if youre looking for the read deal. Calling this theater "IMAX" is almost disingenuous; its not at all like the real thing.

Rely enjoyed my first time seein Guardians of the Galaxy Im IMAX 3D it was an awesome experience, but on my second visit a week later after having bragged to my entire family how great it was, we came back only to have Aliens playing in the IMAX. The ticket salespeople assured us we would get the same experience as it was in IMAX and I was sooooo disappointed and embarrassed because it was boring and very few effects at all. Everyone with me fell asleep during the movie and the only difference between that movie and a regular movie was the sound. I had a better IMAX experience watching Shackletons Antarctic Adventure in 2001 than Aliens in 2017!!!! The salesperson could not tell me the difference between RPM 3D and IMAX so I could make the right choice, just kept saying "no difference ". I was sorely disappointed watching Alien in IMAX. The theater is nice, bathroom clean, and great location. Oh and PLEASE PLEASE CUT OUT ALL THOSE PREVIEWS BEFORE THE MOVIE STARTS!!! Very annoying and time consuming! !!!!

Watched Alien Covenant here recently- I have to say the theatre appears to be kept well for the most part. A couple majors issues though. The first issue gives you three stars because you should have popcorn salt for your popcorn. Buy a couple containers for your customers. Also they have hotdogs on the menu but they have no hotdogs on the heating rollers. The rollers are turning around but empty. I wanted to order a hotdog but the girl said she would have to make some. Isnt the point of a heating roller to have a few ready to go? Seems lazy to me. Also Regal Cinema nobody wants to watch 10 previews before a movie. Many people were noticibly agitated by this. The movie for IMAX was already $17 plus a pop with no military discount so Im not interested in watching 10 previews that takes 25 mins of my time when the movie is supposed to start. Other than those items the theatre was good and willing to visit again in the future.

Great theater if seeing a movie in IMAX or RPX. Otherwise, the theater is a bit dirty, especially the seats. Standard seating is often dirty with dingy armrests, and cleaning between films is often insufficient-to-nonexistent. Also, if you are seeing a less popular movie, the theater has one or two really small screens, which, in my opinion, dont really provide the experience I expect for the price of a movie ticket. If the theater could upgrade the dirty seating, this would be the best place in Columbia to see a movie, without exception. Finally, if you see a late night movie and you happen to see the film with rude or disrespectful patrons, it is important that you complain to the management, as they will likely compensate you for you lack of enjoyment at the theater. Unfortunately, this sort of thing happens somewhat frequently during the later showings.

So on a Saturday morning, they had one register open in the box office. Despite having two booths, each equipped with four registers. We waited in line for probably 15-20 minutes in the muggy heat of South Carolina just to get in to see a film on their "IMAX" screen. We couldnt do online tickets because we were given paper copies of ticket coupons otherwise I would have skipped it.... I dont know whose idea it was to charge an additional $9.00 for this "IMAX Experience" but its egregious. Sure, it looks and sounds great, but is it really worth $18+ for a matinee ticket? NO.... We were just lucky we had free tickets that only meant we had to pay the "surcharge" At least the popcorn was hot, the soda was cold, and the movie was good. Recommended for those who already buy their tickets online and have never been to an actual IMAX theater in their lives.

I really love this theater even though it is a little more expensive than the other Columbia theaters. The theater seating and environment is worth it. Ive always had good experiences here and when there was an issue, management was quick to correct and resolve the issue, very professional. To avoid long food lines, I strongly suggest getting there 30 min. early or buying your ticket at least an hour before the show. They also have a little ticket buying machine inside that will dramatically cut down on the ticket line wait. The staff is very helpful and will help you through the machine purchase. As far as parking during busy times (matinees are ideal for easy parking), if you dont see anything up front, Id look for a spot on the side of the building or behind Nestle if you dont want to be waaaaaay in the back. Very clean and comfortable theater!

I took my son to the 4p showing of Hunger games. After 53 minutes of advertisements, the movie started. I had paid for the premium experiance. After spending $40. for tickets and refreshments I left extememly dissatisfied. When the movie finally started it was good. The quality was at a premium but the wait for the movie to start was inexcusable. When I called to speak to a manager, I recieved the usual "You must have walked into the wrong theater" response. Management did not even try to look into the situation. He simply stated that he had been there since 3p and he did not know of any issues with any of the movies or show times. He also stated that since I had already left the theater his hands were tied as to what he could do now about the situation. Unprofessional and inexcuseable.

Well, my 11:45 movie sat on a windows active screen until i contacted a manager who acted with disdain and the movie started 15 min late. No apology, no offering of some concession, nothing from the manager. He passed me said nothing until i asked and promptly escaped to his office. The movie was way too loud and the other patrons agreed. Management should be left to "people persons" who understand service and satisfaction, what happened to this? And, why would you do a paint job in the theater during service hours. Somehow the smell of paint and popcorn dont mix. I was nauseous when left. Customer service is important, obviously not to Regal cinemas today. Ticket $11.00! Service .02¢ The movie Die Hard not bad. Im going to follow up.

Well a good experience turns to a bad one..Movie interruption due to power, no ones fault..Movie worker makes announcement saying you can get a refund do to the interruption to your great experience, great customer service...Go to claim that refund and get the decline of that refund, experience ruined! Will I return to the the theater probably, because its next to my home. Will I become that "A"-Hole of a customer if there is a future issue, MOST DEFINITELY! I usually dont do reviews due to my line of work, but the lady at the counter with refunds needs to be serving popcorn again! #NeedToSayWhatYouMean #AndLeaveNoRoomForInterpretation #SayLeaveNowToGetAFullRefund #NotIfThereIsAProblemWithTheInterruption #YouGetARefund
