Things I dislike: Well, Regal has free refills with the soda machines with around 30 flavors, whereas AMC has no refills and like 8 flavors. I like zero or diet sodas and Regal machines have every flavor in a zero version. Cup holders at Regal fit all soda sizes, AMCs dont. In fact, above small size, and the drink will be dangling almost falling from the cup holder. Popcorn is also tastier at Regal in my opinion. Theres also the trailers. My god, it is half hour of trailers, and thats too much. So add half hour to the stated starting time, and thats when the movie actually starts. Regal only shows 10 minutes of trailers. Signage is also an issue. The theater is huge with like 6 or 7 floors. I dont want to have to walk from end to end trying to find the bathroom, because theres no proper signage from every theater room pointing to where the bathrooms are. Things I like: It does out do Regal in other aspects. It doesnt have you go through a bag check when going in. I appreciate not having to feel like I am going through a TSA line. AMC also shows matinees at almost half-price. Regal doesnt. And even relatively early showings like at 11:00am that would be matinee price at AMC, are regular $15 price at Regal. AMC also has more variety of movies than Regal. I guess that goes with the size difference.

I love watching movies, but going to the AMC in the UWS every single time is just too far of a hike. Thank god AMC Empire is here to save the day because this place is literally never packed. Situated right in the heart of Times Square, one would think that this place would be forever packed. But instead, no tourist wants to spend their precious vacation time in a movie theater so this place is actually pretty empty. On opening weekends, you can stroll in 30 minutes before your movie and still be able to find a prime seat. AMC Empire 25 is 5 stories tall. What that means is that youre going to have to make a hike to see your movie. To make matters worse, the only working concession stand is on the 3rd floor so everyones in line waiting to get some popcorn. Another gripe is that half the time, youll find an escalator not operating. Im not sure if thats to save energy or something happened, but it happens all the time. Nonetheless, all those are minute details. Youre here to see a movie and AMC Empire 25 does it well. The theaters themselves are fine, and youre more than likely to find a perfect seat. Ive now come here countless times, and dont see myself going anywhere else.

Each time I go to this theatre, I swear Ill never go back. Everything about it is one colossal FAIL. The staff is rude, clueless and completely unaware of everything going on around them from how to sell a ticket to how to get a popcorn in under twenty minutes. With attitude. The digital ticket machines (which are supposed to save time by pre-ordering) never work, and instead one ends up standing in a huge line, only to get to the front and be told that because your tickets are pre-sold (i.e. online) you have to go up 4 flights of stairs to "Customer Service" to print your ticket. Upon arriving at "Customer Service,"--you guessed it--they have NO idea how to print tickets, how to look them up (despite a confirmation number) and ultimately how to provide customer service. All of this would be OK (perhaps) if the theatres were clean, at a decent temperature and comfortable. But theyre not. Sticky floors, popcorn from the prior showing, and temperatures hovering in the high 80s make for a terrible movie experience. Save your money, and go elsewhere. 34th St., 14th St., Lincoln Center, or even New Jersey are all preferable to this terrible place.

Last Night on June 27th. Me and my brother saw a movie in theater 20 at 10:20pm. Starting off the theater had not been clean, it still had popcorn on the floors and stairs, Candy wrappers in the seats and the seat cushions had tears and holes in them. During the movie me and my brother saw at the bottom rows of the theater their were a dozen of MICE. Thats right MICE!!!! Moving around in the bottom rows of the bottom rows which no one was sitting in. Me and my brother went to guest services to report the problem we told them about the rodents in the theater and they gave both of us two free movie passes each. But the look on their face when we told them about the issue, it seems like they already knew about the incident like its been occurring before until we came and told them and had the expressions that said " Oh we really got to take care of this right now, we cant push this aside anymore. In General I WILL NOT, WILL NOT attend the AMC theater on 42nd street, Empire 25 and I would recommend you not attend as well. If this seems to occur in the other locations. Ill take my business else where.

This is my go to theatre. I love this place. Seriously that Prime theatre is amazing. The employees are always really quick and try to help me. It may be in the heart of Times Square but if you look past that this place has some of the best movie options. I never go on Fridays or Saturdays because it is always packed. They have matinee movies every day till noon and even for the prime which is normally $20 per ticket you can get it for under $15. The prime is awesome, the chairs vibrate and the seats recline and seriously it is worth every penny. While they may not be the most updated theatre (84th street has recliners in every screen but only has 6 small screens) they do have great customer service. More than once Ive had issues where someone was using a cell phone in the movie and I flagged down an employee who got the person to stop using a cell phone instantly. Ive never had an issue and I will definitely continue to go back.
