Cobble Hill Cinemas is a small theater that offers a mix of blockbuster and indie films. It is one of the few non-chain theaters around, and it has special discount days, making it a budget-friendly option. However, the theater could benefit from modernization and better customer service training for its staff.

Very bad experience. My husband and I have been going to this theater for years. On November 17th, 2013 we came out of the theater that is on the first floor. The line to the womens room was extremely long. (They have tiny bathrooms that you can barely fit in) I recalled they had a restroom upstairs but as I approached the staircase one of the woman workers blocked my way and said there were no bathrooms upstairs. I thought this odd. However, the line was so long that I decided to race home instead and prayed that I would make it. My husband reminded me that there was indeed a bathroom upstairs on the other side. I made my way to the other staircase and was physically stopped by a woman named Janet. I said that I desperately needed to use the bathroom. She said the bathrooms were only for the upstairs theater. I said, "Please let me go. I really need to go". She physically blocked me then pushed me back threatening to call the police. I have never in my life been treated so horribly. We had just seen, 12 Years A Slave, and it reminded me of the humiliation of the characters in the story. Be prepared - dont drink the soda you may find yourself in a very compromising position and manhandled by a bullying staff.

While purchasing tickets, their websited stated I should arrive 30-45 mins early to ensure seating. I get there an hour early and am told unceremoniously to wait outside. I left and waited across the street until it was at 45 minutes before the showing. The same guy again tells me that I cannot go inside but is rude about it. I would have appreciated being told in the first place that sitting opened 10 minutes before the showing, as opposed to simply telling me to leave. I understand it can be a fire hazard to have people wait in the lobby as there is no official space to wait, but at least have their staff better trained in giving decent customer service when people are unaware of this rule. Additionally, after I was able to go inside, the gentleman who was checking tickets stopped my friend because his hand was in his pocket. He assumed he had alcohol in small sweater pocket. Really? Thanks for the humiliation. Definitely a cherry on top to our first experience at this theater.

I will never use this car service again. I used this car service once to go the airport. When I told the driver I had to stop at the ATM on the way to get cash to pay him he was really rude and snotty. He did eventually stop, but continued to make rude and snotty comments under his breath. Running back to the car from the ATM he kept honking at me to hurry up. Then in the car he proceeded to tell me we should have left earlier because there would be terrible traffic on the BQE and I was gonna miss my flight and that it was my fault for leaving late and stopping at the ATM (I got there with plenty of time to spare.) Not only with this guy an A-hole, but he was dirty, disheveled, and malodorous. Upon arrival he had the audacity to give me his card and said to call him if I need a ride back when I got back to NY. Yea right...

Great little theater. The prices are good and sometimes its so comforting to see a movie in a place that doesnt have rows and rows of stadium seating. Id much rather see a big movie (like Harry Potter) in this theater than an AMC in the city. They even have discount days. I know Thursday is one of them. Plus, in the lobby, they have a Candy Crane, something I hadnt seen since a Wal-Mart in the early 90s. A crane that, with a quarter, will get you some candy for the movie. I usually drop about a dollars worth here. The staff is polite and helpful. Its just a great atmosphere. The crowd is usually an adult crowd, which is good if you try to avoid kids. :) I hail from Park Slope so this is usually my goal.

I wanted to love this place since its one of the few non-chain theaters around and they have Bargain Tuesdays and Thursdays and (unheard of in NYC) matinee prices. But the ticketing situation is ridiculous. You can buy tickets online, but when you get there youll still have to wait in line to pick up your tickets at the box office. This could be fine on some days, but when its a new release, youll be lined up around the block for 20-30 minutes in the heat or cold just to pick up your tickets. I probably wont go back unless I were going with someone who wanted me to meet them there.

It was a HORRIBLE experiance!!! We checked online to see if "Home" was playing since my little sister wanted to see it for her birthday, and it said there was a 7:45 show, so we went. when we got there, they told us there is no 7:45 show for the movie "home" They told us they dont even have "Home" at their theater!! They said they dont have ANY children movies! We spoke to dean he had no remorse or offered us another option, seeing we were all out of breth running trying to make the movie instead his excuse was they didnt update their website because their website is down. Really?

Small theater that plays a good combo of blockbusters and indie films although it leans more towards indies. I understand that its a small and old theater that has its charm but it is a bit dirty. The exterior and some of the interior artwork is fun and interesting, showcasing a lot of movie greats. This place wouldnt be my first choice for a movie theater but if I wanted to catch an indie, this is the only theater that I know of in the neighborhood. For blockbusters, I would pay the extra couple of dollars to watch it at the Regal further up in Borough Hall.

where to begin with this movie theater. It used to be worth going here, back when pricing matched the quality provided. Now Id rather travel a little further and pay a little more to go to regal. For the prices asked, the seats are uncomfortable, the screens are horrible, and the concessions are less than satisfactory. You also have to wonder why they wont play certain movies such as Madea or Kevin Hart? Well you dont need to wonder, we all know the answer to that... with the pavilion gone, this one is sure to soon follow unless changes are made.

one of the only car services in brooklyn that can setup a credit card account (trust me i have tried them all), are on time and always call when they are outside as opposed to waking my neighbours by honking the horn! in 3 months of use i now dont use anyone else to regular trips to airports and the city, highly recommended, im simply amazed at the horrible experiences others below have received, drivers are respectful and know where they are going, especially in bad traffic!

First time at this theater on a Friday evening, didnt reserve tickets online and was able to purchase no problem at the door, there are no reserve seating. The location is great near lots of restaurants. The theater is very good pricing, along with the snack bar which we got a soda and popcorn for only $10. The actual theater was cozy, and had plenty seating. Only thing I wasnt to find if were the seats they are not he most comfortable. Otherwise I will still be coming back!
