Overall, I was disappointed. Their staff, Jorge, was great, which is why Im giving two stars. Without Jorge, this would have been a one star review. My friends and I did the Patient. The room itself was small and quite plain. Decor was minimal - with old worn out pages of the Jacksonville Business Journal strewn around the room, and some copies of common magazines stuffed in a drawer as red herrings. There were almost no clues or logic puzzles to solve; the first step was simply finding and assembling puzzle pieces to a childs Frozen puzzle. Even after putting the puzzle together, every step that followed consisted of simply finding things. There was virtually no problem solving involved, and some of the problem solving that did exist was nonsensical. The whole thing played out more like a scavenger hunt, but in a small space. Our team was out in 35 minutes, and apparently there were a couple of steps that we skipped, but still got out just fine... One Way Out plays like a cheap knock-off of The Great Escape... except One Way Out ticket prices are actually more expensive.
It was an awesome display of teamwork between strangers who came together to achieve a common goal. Each of us played a vital part in our success. We found our way out with literally 1 second left on the clock. The only thing left to do was to express our joy, satisfaction, and accomplishment with hugs! And boy did we do that! I think five people is the ideal number per experience, and, I would not recommend more than six. Lastly, if youre in Jacksonville or visiting Jacksonville, be sure and put this on your list of things to do. You wont regret it. Its worth the money, stimulates your brain, is a fun and different activity, will challenge even the brightest individuals, and is a hour youll never forget!!!
We drove over from Amelia Island and took the kids and their friends, 8 total. Our first experience with a lock out room and it could not have been a better one. The location was in a great area and the inside was very clean as well. Got to meet the owner and hear the story how he started his business. Ben works a full time job and does this too. Wow!! I watched two other groups come in and two groups leave and all four had smiles coming and going. My kids were still talking about this on the ride back and I heard them talking about the other rooms as they had pulled up the web site to read more about it on their phones. Ben thanks for making great memories for our family. We will be back in 2017!!!
One Way Out is the BEST escape room in Jacksonville. The staff so kind and awesome, and the rooms are unique, well thought out, clever, fun, and challenging. We have done every single one of their rooms, including their brand new Collision room! We are addicted to One Way Out and will most definitely come back every time they start a new room. I highly recommend anyone to go check this place out. Perfect for a fun hangout night with friends, company team building events, bachelorette or bachelor parties, birthday parties, etc! I promise you will have a blast.
We were looking for something new to do in Jacksonville and we came across the ad for One Way Out in an ad at Metro Diner and decided to check it out. We were so impressed. From the hospitality that Ben offered while explaining how "getting out of a room" works to the detail in creating a room that took both intellect and communication with your partner. I truly think that everyone needs to check this out if youre looking for something new or just looking for a creative team building activity for your staff or office.
I have done escape rooms all over Florida, including every site in Jacksonville, and this (in my opinion) is the best around. Not only is the couple who runs it just the loveliest couple, they are local, and Id always rather support local business! The rooms are tough; manageable but tough. They all follow the same story line, which is super cool, but you dont have to do one to understand the rest. They are all great (Ive done all 4, escaped 3). If youre looking for an escape room, DO THESE.
I took our office staff to One Way Out as a team building activity last night and it was a blast! It was a great way to not only have fun with our staff, but also see how everyone works together as a team. I highly recommend it if you are looking for somewhere to take your employees for a fun night out. Everyone on our staff raved about how much fun they had. The staff at One Way Out were also extremely kind and helpful. We will definitely return for another team building night!
It was my second escape game experience and we picked the "Convicted". We were a group of 5; 2 of which never played escape game before. My suggestion is if it`s your first time try the simpler scenarios since Convicted has a %5 percent success rate and I think it requires some experience. Needless to say we were in %95. I was a bit frustrated of our failure but regardless of that I had a great time, I would recommend to people who like solving puzzles!
We went here for my daughters birthday party with some reservations it would be too hard for them. While it was difficult (we didnt escape), it wasnt impossible. We made very good progress through the puzzles. A group of adults could definitely finish Escape 101 and have a great time. The kids had a great time and wanted to attack the next room immediately! At the time of our visit, they had four different escape rooms. Highly recommend.
I would absolutely recommend this escape room company. This was my first escape room ever. I went with two other people and got paired up with strangers in a total group of eight. We tried their hardest room "convicted" and barely got out with a minute and 47 seconds to spare. I found the clues and obstacles quite challenging, unique, and creative. Ill definitely be going back to try their other rooms.
This place is amazing! For about the same amount of money it would cost you for a trip to the movies to see something you dont even know if youll like this is a GUARUNTEED great time that you will remember for the rest of your life, with an INTERACTIVE experience! Truly a great experience for any age, I cannot recommend One Way Out highly enough. I cant wait to go back again, and again...
I have done several escape rooms in Jacksonville and Orlando and One Way Out is certainly the best! It was so much fun and really required us to work together. The puzzles and clues were so innovative! Some other places are more like scavenger hunts. Not this place--it is truly an escape room that will keep you thinking and having a blast!
Had a great time! I have done an escape room before and was very impressed with the room at one way out. Definitely felt it was an upgrade from my previous experience. I would recommend this for date night, families or just a fun afternoon with friends. You wont be disappointed. Cant wait to try another room. Thanks for a great experience!
This place was awesome. When we got there it had been raining and our room flooded so they had to cancel. The owners were very accommodating though and was able to get us in another room at 10pm with a discount. Everyone in our group had an amazing time and we returned to complete another room three less than a week later.
