Ive been going to this theater since it opened and for the last several years the best part has been taking an assortment of food to enjoy during the movie. Tonight I ordered my (assigned seat) tickets online and bought two different orders from the food court before heading off to my seat. When I got to the ticket counter I was informed that I could not take my food into the movie. I had four minutes to sample my food before I was forced to throw it away or miss the movie. Im carb-loading for a race this weekend, so afterwards I went and bought all the food AGAIN. Bringing in food court merchandise was the one point of difference that has kept me loyal to JC all these years. If that has truly come to an end, this theater can no longer compete with Flix or Altoona for my business. Im really upset about this. I was really looking forward to the movies tonight. It also sucks that the policy change was not communicated to me before I tried to enter the theater section with my Charlies and Cold Stone.

Its a big multiplex at the big mall. Its what you expect, and offers good seating, clean theaters, and a well stocked concession area. They offer all the most recent movies for about $10-15 depending on the day and time. Unfortunately, this theater has jumped on the "upcharge bandwagon" by offering movies in "XD". Its the same experience as a regular showing, but for an upcharge of $3/pp; despite their claims the audio is enhanced(isnt that what ALL theaters should offer?) Limited "regular" showings force you into these showing unless you plan ahead. Unlike other theater chains, there isnt any notable weekly specials or discounts on tickets. Like all theaters, the food is over priced with limited or lacking special offers to entice me to splurge on popcorn or anything else. If you just want to see the latest blockbuster, this is your spot in West DesMoines.

I wish I could give less than one star. My experience was horrible! I tried to take my little brother to see the movie Kung Fu Panda 3. It was advertised in the paper as showing Thursday-Tuesday at 10:40 am, 1:20 pm and 4:00 pm. It was also advertised as showing Wednesday at 10:40 am and 1:20 pm. We chose to go on Sunday. When we arrived we were informed that the movie wasnt actually showing on the weekend. They had pulled it to show new movies that weekend! The woman told us it would be back Monday at the advertised showtimes. So, we decided to try again Monday. My mother took my brother to the movie and bought tickets for the two of them. I decided to meet them there after I was done with work. When I attempted to buy a ticket they couldnt sell me one since I had arrived too late. So, I ended up just leaving!!! I will NEVER go to this movie theater again.

We went to a movie on opening night that my group was excited to see and we knew it would be busy so we bought assigned seats specifically for that reason a week in advance. When we arrived there were people in our seats that had been directed there by the staff at the theater. He tried to remedy it but only got 4 seats together when we had 5 specifically reserved a week in advance. I had to sit by myself on the other side of the theater for the movie. He did come and offer 3 free passes for a future movie after I was standing in the lobby waiting for the rest of my party since we were separated, which I will not be using after this experience. Tl;dr assigned seating doesnt actually exist here, go to flix or the Altoona theater if you want that.

5/5 stars. Went to see Princess Mononoke with a couple of friends. Line was short, service was friendly, found a place to sit easily. Movie started up, but was just in Japanese without subtitles. My friends went to let management know, immediate action was taken. Though the movie was delayed, no one seemed to be fazed. We waited for the dubbed version happily. At the end of the movie while we were headed out were all handed "Rain Check cards." Very unexpected but definitely appreciated. Just wanted to compliment on the amazing customer service.

This place is about a 30 minute drive but I would rather go here than anywhere else. The concessions are great! You can get Nachos, pizza, hot-dogs, ice cream, sandwiches, coffee...etc and bring it into the movie with you. The seats are comfortable, the floors arent sticky and overall its a petty fantastic experience. If you are going on a date the Cheesecake Factory is really close by along with a few other places to eat.

Had everything I could hope for in a good theater. Variety of theaters and showings, friendly service, an "xD" theater for enthusiasts, and even allows outside food. Between 20 theaters there was a convenient showtime for all new movies and had times available for movies 2 months old or older. They also have closed captioning devices and headphones for the hearing impaired.

Century is probably the nicest theater in the Des Moines area, as far as picture goes. Since they have more auditoriums than other theaters in the area, there are more available showings, and they are able to give smaller movies longer runs than they may get elsewhere. I would recommend going to movies on Tuesdays, when tickets are about $5.50 (as of Jan 2016).

Well I have been here a few times. I am a person who is willing to pay a litlte extra to see a good movie. The screens here are bigger than other theaters around and the sound system is a blast. Having 20 screens allows for the greatest movies to be played here. It is expensive, but it is worth it if you really want to be blown away, go see Avatar in 3D.

#1. When you pay good money to go watch a comedy movie, why are we subjected to all the horror movie trailers? #2. Turn the decibel level a bit lower, please. #3. I thought the leather recliners would be comfortable, but after a while my neck ached. Too hard and hurts your neck. If all the theatres are changing to those, we wont come, beer and wine or not!

Thank you. I just lost and found my wallet. It slipped out of my pocket at the theater. I was barely able to compose myself and called security. I was put in contact with Kaylinn or Kaitlinn. She took my call and reassured me they had my wallet. I want to thank the clean up staff for finding the wallet and Kaylinn for helping me get reunited with it!!!!

Ive been to every theater in the Des Moines area. This one has been my favorite for a long time, being one of the newest and nicest. I love the XD theater, and its definitely worth the couple bucks extra. Its also great to have the mall nearby, with many stores, and a great food court so its easy to get dinner before going to a movie.
