The Kent is a place where you can see first run movies for great prices. Its $6 for children aged 11 & under and seniors age 58 & older; everyone else pays $9. 3D tickets are $2 more. The real appeal is the Wacky Wednesday price: Everyone pays $5. These are the prices that you pay *at the box office*. If you buy your tickets over the internet, be prepared to pay more. I buy tickets at Amazons Movie Tickets website. In March I went to see a 3D movie on a Saturday night. I paid $11 plus a $1 service fee. When I went to see a 3D movie on Wacky Wednesday this week, I paid $7.50 online. I must ask them if they recently changed their 3D prices for Wednesdays and if so, then they must make it clear on their phone and online. Regarding the theater itself, there are 3 screens. The seating is okay. There are cupholders. The doors need to have a curtain or partition in front of them because its a nuisance when people open them and the light comes in while you are watching the movie. The walls are thin, so you will be hearing the noise of the movie next door. Both theaters if you are in the middle. The cleanliness of the womens bathroom needs improvement. They need to put the paper towels in the dispenser because some people dont wash their hands properly and you have to touch the wet roll, which can fall on the floor. The hand dryer is broken. There needs to be a soap dispenser instead of a small bottle of soap on the side of the sink. Its best to bring your own napkins and a small bottle of hand sanitizer. The food is expensive, just like every other theater. Once I made the mistake of eating there because I was late and ended up paying $7.50 for lousy hot dogs, Vitamin Water and chips. I strongly suggest that if you are hungry to buy from the many establishments along Coney Island Avenue. You can have Middle Eastern, Asian, deli or American style food at way better prices. I did this the other day. Since I was early, I ate it the waiting area, because I didnt want to get in trouble for bringing in outside food. The waiting area has benches that are upholstered with movie advertising. There are 2 arcades, in the waiting and inside by the bathrooms. If you want to watch the end credits you will have to deal 1 or 2 extremely rude workers. They will either tell you to leave, or do like the last guy who was yelling on the phone to someone that he didnt understand why we wouldnt get out because there was nothing left see. This was *right before the cast of characters was coming up on the screen*. There was a family sitting a couple of rows ahead of me who were upset about his behavior, but decided not to say anything and took their leave. A cool thing they have is rental for birthday parties and movie screenings for a festival. The Kent plays a major role in film history. It is where Woody Allen filmed the movie scenes for The Purple Rose Of Cairo. The reason he chose it is because he grew up in Midwood and used to go there as a kid to see the cartoon double matinee. Also it was available to rent. I gave a 3 star rating because of the prices, the generally nice staff and the convenient location. I believe that there is room for improvement.

Nice theater, but the staff has some practices that detract from the moviegoing experience. During my visit for Wonder Woman, the house lights were left on at the beginning of the film, and it was several minutes in before they turned them off. At the end of the film, they turned the lights back on by the 3rd end credit, then a staff member announced to the audience that there was nothing to see in the credits (as if he were annoyed by how many times he has said it from previous screenings). Then the staff member turned on a dirt blower to clean the floor as we all day there. I asked him to take it off, and he did, When I spoke to the manager, I was told he condones those practices due to the short down time between showings. I told him, as a film professional and an audience member, that its disrespectful to the craft, the business, and his customers. Otherwise, really nice theater with good food.

Ill be comparing this theater to my experience at Alpine cinema on bay ridge Ave! Movie quality 10/10 Movie ticket price 9/10 Food quality 9/10 Food price 7/10 (M popcorn $4 and it was smaller than alpines M popcorn) Drink quality 9/10 Drink price 6/10 (M Pepsi $4 and its smaller than Alpines M cups; almost same size as McDonalds M cups) Seats were comfortable 9/10 quality However it was too dim in the playing room I couldnt see how clean they were, and if you come a little late, good luck finding a seat in the dark (I had to sit at the back because I couldnt see were I was going) My overall experience 7/10 If you want to watch a movie and enjoy it, but dont care about fanciness or dont want to spend too much time traveling, defiantly this is the place to go. It does the job.

This place is good for me on Wednesday when movies are Half Price... including 3D movies. The prices are not exaggerated like other big movie theaters but that is expected of such small theater. The place has not been remodeled for ages but its a good way to keep your budget happy if you have lots of kids. It has never been too crouded for me not to find a good seat like it has happened in other theaters. If the place was remodeled, I dont believe the owners could afford to keep such great deals, but I cannot give it 5 Stars because their bathrooms are not kept really clean and there is paint chipping off in lots of places. I wish they would invest just a bit of money into that, it shouldnt be that hard or expensive to have a couple of day laborers atleast paint the place a little.

This movie theater should be shut down! Its a crime to still have it open. There r so many reasons why Kent sucks.theres only 3 theaters, the screening is horrible!, and its so in unclean. I was watching the green hornet and the movie shut down... twice!! Like I said crime for it to be open. The only reason y people go there is because its cheap and local other. Thats should not be the reason y people go to Kent. The UA theater is amazing for a local Brooklyn theater. In fact I watched sherlock Holmes 2 in Kent it was so bad, the screen had lines going across. Half the time there was no color it was black and yellow, that I rewatched it in UA. For ur own sake never go to Kent. Even if it means not catching a movie that night! GO KNICKS!! And MAVERICKS!!

I am sorry. I really want to like this place. But its gross. The seats are gross. The floors are sticky. Its just disgusting. I ended up putting some of my clothes into the laudry right when I came home of fear of bedbugs. Came here because Menashe was playing. Ticket price is $9. Pretty expensive for seats and floors like these. Picture is good. Sound from other theaters can be heard. I really recommend the owner does a simple little renovation. Get some recliner seats, some clean carpets. More people should be interested in coming. I would be happy to go to the Kent, its close and pretty cheap in the morning. But its just too disgusting. The seats have gum and all of that nasty stuff. Just please... get new seats at least.
