The newly-renovated AMC Theater at the Ward Parkway Shopping Center is amazing! I wasnt the only one in our group who loved the leather reclining seats. They are fully adjustable for comfort, but seats and screen also are positioned for a good view at any angle. I bet theres not a "bad seat" in the house, no matter how crowded the theater may become. Not that anyone is likely to feel unduly crowded in this theater! The old days of feeling as if we were crammed into the multiplex like sardines are over, in this place! The added leg room and wider aisles added both physical comfort and a lovely sense of elbow-room. This theater is so new, clean, and beautiful, you almost feel like you need to clean up after yourself if you spill popcorn--as some friends who sat behind us discovered first-hand. When was the last time you felt that way about a movie theater? Speaking of popcorn, the concession area also has had a major facelift, and theyve added a full bar--a nice touch for the adults in the audience, who I hope will make that feature a profit center. All of those impressions were made before the lights went down, but the pleasure didnt stop there. Our movie was beautifully clear, and the sound was very good, in my opinion. These people offer many comforts of home, plus the enormous screen and state-of-the-art sound (no "butt-kicker" seats, but Im OK with that) of an optimal theater experience. Its a great combination. I think I speak for many in our group when I say that the next time I go to a movie Ill try to find a show time at the AMC Ward Parkway. They have raised the bar rather dramatically, among movie theaters in Kansas City! P.S. No, I dont work for AMC! I just really enjoyed myself there.

Used to be my favorite place to see movies. Past few visits have been less than great and today will probably be my final. To begin with I purchased my ticket online and was supposed to be able to check in at a kiosk thus avoiding any line. Kiosks were not working so stood in line until an employee with a handheld scanner finally showed up. So I paid a service fee to buy the tickets online to make things smoother and thats not what I got. The seats are definitely comfortable but the sound level is just horrific. I literally have been taking some type of ear protection to wear during the previews for sometime now. Today the movie itself was so loud the earplugs were never out. And that was added to by the booming sounds coming from theaters on either side. Im sure Im not the only one that finds this experience incredibly uncomfortable and will be making a different choice to see new movies. As an additional note, when you purchase a ticket for these theaters you have an assigned seat. Every time Ive been there in the last year someone in the theater has just come in and sat down wherever they wanted to and then the person who actually bought that seat has to ask them to move. Twice I witnessed near fights break out because the people who had just plopped themselves down didnt think they should have to move and made a big stink about it. Sad, I have loved going to the big screen since I was a child.

Please bring back the stand-alone self-serve ticket kiosks, and give staff directing traffic at ticket lines some lessons in politeness. My husband and I were waiting to buy tickets this past Saturday evening, and the ticket buying process, which really should be a simple process, has become confusing. There was a young man trying to direct customers to the next ticket staff, and he rudely shouted, "Hey, you! Yes, Im talking to you!" to the woman in front of me. He was completely obnoxious. Every other staff person I encountered was polite, but this guy was the first AMC employee I encountered, so he set the tone for the evening. I asked the ticket taker if that guy was always so obnoxious, and he sheepishly nodded and said Im really sorry. Apparently Im not the first to mention it. The theater itself was pretty comfortable clean, the restroom was clean, and the other staff members were polite, or I would be giving fewer stars.

Just got told today that my pass / tickets are not valid. We arrived 20 minutes for showing and waiting in line. Teller did not realize I have a pass and kept swiping it it like it was a gift card. Then stated her supervisor is refusing the pass as they we near sell out conditions. Well, if you KNEW how to use a pass, I would not have been delayed. Conversely, she stated the information it was on the card. Yet she did not give me the card back to check and when I asked what is the definition of near sell out conditions, she replied " what do you mean?" I mean - if this is the basis of denying my pass, I would think you would now the policy that supports YOUR decision as a rep of AMC. Then to say, this theatre is small and many of your shows reach sell-out quickly., you just told me enough to NEVER go to your theatre again!!!

Nice place. Its pretty high class, but that doesnt mean everything is great. The ticket prices are high, and there is assigned seating, which is part of being high class. The seats are leather, reclining, and very comfy. I wouldnt mind one in my living room. I have one gripe about the whole thing. In front of every row of seats, there are low walls, which are fine and great for safetys sake. But, at least on the top row of seats wall, theres glass that runs along the top that makes the wall a little taller. Its a bit annoying because its in the middle of your view of the screen, but can be ignored. The issue was that it was COVERED in little grubby grimy dirty buttery hand prints that you really cant ignore. They need to clean that dang glass or just get rid of it. Why is it even there??

Do not go here if you are under 18 I repeat do not go here if you are under 18 without an adult. First off when we came they let us puchase our tickets. We waited for a friend and they didnt let her get her ticket because she was under 18 (me and my friends or all 17). We refund the movie thinking it was the movie we wanted to see beause it was rated R wait for an hour for another movie add get told you have to be 18 to go inside the movie. What moron made this idiotic rule. And why didnt the cashiers tell us about this rule why lets us by the ticket and go threw all this trouble if we cant even go inside?? He must have just added this rule because in October we got in no problem. Let me say you lost my money. I wont be coming back for a while maybe thats why they charge so much...

The only thing this theater has going for it is the reserved seating and leather recliners. Buying tickets online wasnt a problem either. The bad: Went to see Deadpool and the theater they had it in was too small, sound was too loud and not even in surround. Seems they spent more for the seating than they did for the sound. Heck my 14 year old receiver does a better job! And seriously, 15 minutes for "commercials" before the movie? If I had known that I would have come later. Even had a crick in my neck after the movie! Id love to know which theater is one of the better ones in the KC area. If theres not any, I plan to stick with my blu-ray and just rent the movies. Will certainly be doing that when Deadpool comes out to rent so I can watch it properly.
