Late afternoon is the best time to play this course. If you live in Summit or Short Hills, its the only public track you can get out on and finish in under 6 hours(unless you want to practice your short game at the muni courses). Dont expect to see a Marshal, difficult shots or any water on the course. Fairways and greens are just green and round - pretty much no breaks, undulations or slopes. Play is slow(no Marshals) during peak hours and paying more than $30.00 for a round at this course would be criminal. Do you want to bang out a quick 18 holes and not worry about what kind of shape your game is in? Then this course will suit you fine. Looking for a manicured track with nice people and staff? Find another course. Place was closed for an entire year, nothing changed.

To those of you who played the course last year and had an unfavorable impression, give it another try now. Last year was a transition year. Its difficult to do such an extensive renovation while still keeping the course open for play. The golf course renovation is nearly 100 percent completed now. All 18 holes are open and course is in very nice shape...and will get even better as weather improves. The city wisely hired well known golf architect Stephen Kay to oversee the renovation and the golf course superintendent is doing an excellent job. Simply put, East Orange GC is a bargain...an enjoyable golf experience for an affordable price. New clubhouse and restaurant are under construction and will be open sometime later this year.

Second time playing here. Played here once last summer and just played here again summer 2017. Course is in good condition. Good course to practice irons. Clubhouse is completed with a bar and restaurant. A lot of 9 hole golfers, therefore they will throw new golfers out on the 10th tee which happened to us. Slowed our pace of play. They also wouldnt let anyone take carts out. Not even cart path cart only and they didnt have enough pull carts for everyone either. Other then that i would play here again because its a good practice course

Total disaster. One girl in a trailer running the show on a Sunday. Our tee time was triple booked, no starter on site, and even those that got out (we did not) were told the carts were backed up 40-50 minutes if they wanted one. One kid even walked in and said they owed him a refund for a previous rain out and they just told him to go out with out even checking a thing. If youre used to the way things are managed at most courses in this area, you will be very disappointed.

I am in the parking lot right now writing a review for my 3.5 hour round that ended on hole 11 due to thunderstorms. Not only did the front 9 take almost 3 hours to complete, the staff was extremely un helpful and the kid Pat that worked the front desk couldnt do anything to help. There were a group of 3 women and a 10 year old boy in front of us playing 3 balls a piece. Im done ranting, just go elsewhere. You will see more negative reviews. On AND NO RANGER .

This place needs to be closed. I played last Friday and walked off after 5th hole. The guy at the "pro shop" told me they were 75% -80% finished with renovations. Really? Where? Bathrooms/club house still look like a scene from The Shinning. 2nd hole green was all brown. No green at all. Maybe it got better on later holes. The fairway on 18 looked good from parking lot, I simply couldnt wait that long to get there. Needs to be condemned.

The greens and tee boxes are better than before but the place still needs a ton of work if they want to attract real golfers, who will spend real money and be regulars. The staff acts like they are doing you a favor, saw golfers in gym shorts and t-shirt, and the course itself still suffers from years of neglect. Its close, its cheap but real golfers will not come right now and they need those if they want to have any chance of success.

Be warned - the course is under construction, with almost every tee-box a temporary and huge areas of debris and torn up fairways. Many of the existing greens are parched wastelands with little grass and weeds everywhere. While I can understand the construction will eventually make the course better, the rates should be deeply discounted. Instead, they were charging $35 to walk 18 holes. A complete ripoff.

Look, this aint baltusrol. But if youre looking for a cheap way to practice your game, itll do the trick. I just played on a Tuesday afternoon (around 2:30pm) no wait and $20 for the round... How can you beat that? They just opened a brand new clubhouse with outdoor seating and bar that looks pretty sweet. Keep your expectations low and youll have a great time.

I love playing that today the people are very nice very congenial the only problem that I have with the course is that you do not have 150 wood Stakes or 100-yard steaks in fairways its very difficult to see what distance you have as you cannot see your in-ground marker other than that the experience was wonderful looking forward to the restaurant opening

The NEW clubhouse is very chic; upscale but inviting. I enjoyed the driving range and large comfortable chaise loungers on the porch sitting area with views of the reservoir. Great place to meet up with friends and colleagues after work or after a round!

It is a work in progress. Tee times were scheduled 10 minutes apart for each foursome which delayed starting time and made playing time lag. The greens were in decent shape and the fairways were in average condition for late autumn. There is no pro shop..

Greens were nice. No food or drink. There were vending machines but the didnt even work. Hopefully when. They build the clubhouse it will be much nicer.

Nice golf course very affordable. Greens are not in good shape, but you can putt well, you can tell they are still under renovation.
