My wife and I go to the movie theater all the time. We have a Megaplex Rewards card so we get coupons because of all the money we spend. One problem is half of the coupons are for things we never purchase so they are no good to us. One of the coupons we get is for a free regular popcorn, which is great. The problem arises when the cashier tries to get us to up size to a large for $1.50 more. The reason its a problem to me is because a large popcorn is only .75 more than a regular. To me, thats fraudulent! Then to make it right, I had to argue with the cashier and 2 managers before getting the lead Manager who says to the others to "Take care of him." Another problem I have is that they keep changing their Regular Nachos. First it was the chips they were using, then they were putting it in a separate cup and then in the corner cup in the tray. Also the cheese keeps changing, and the last time we went they only gave me about 2/3 of the amount of cheese that they used to. That is not enough cheese to finish the chips, and when I asked for more they wanted .75 to give me the wrest of the cheese they used to give. That caused another argument with 2 different employees until I got to a 2nd Mngr. who told them to "take care of him" The whole thing is getting really old!

So, we go see Star Wars on the 19th of Dec. We have been to this theater many times Walk in the theater lobby and guess what? All the tables and chairs that were in the lobby for you to sit at while you eat or wait for the movie to start were gone! Replaced by the tackiest displays of junk being sold that I have ever seen, the lobby looked like the swap meet on Redwood Road. One table had cheap jewelry for sale, one had candles, there were T-shirt sellers, and even a couple of guys trying to sell insurance, but the prize for the worst booth goes to the guy pimping pre-legal attorney services. I rounded up the manager and asked what that was all about, wheres the chairs and tables, how Im I supposed to enjoy my snack while standing up? Of course the guy was of no help and offered a weak "well these people paid to put their stalls here in the lobby". Look here, theater owners....I went and paid money to your facility, and I get a flea market? If I wanted to see that I would have gone to the one in West Valley. Try not to vacuum up every available penny on the planet, try not to show so much greed. Seeing those crass displays of junk ruined my whole experience, I wanted a movie, not a tour through the DI.

Normally I love megaplex. However we went and saw Wonder Woman in dbox, our seats barely moved more than a couple centimeters. My husband went to talk to the manager John. John said if they are moving they are working. (Weve seen dozens of Dbox movies over the years) my husband tried to explain this. John told him to make sure his chair was turned up. The entire movie it felt like someone was kicking our chairs. The chairs were making awful clanging noises. We went out after he movies and were given 10 tickets to any movie but not any format instead of 5 to Dbox. Which is what we paid for. We purchased our tickets on line so we asked for the points to be added to the card. At every other location they will add them with out a fuss. However here they told us hey had to have a physical copy of the reciept. This is an app they use Ogden and south Jordan as well as sandy have ways for them to add the points with out needing a paper copy. GET WITH THE TIMES!!!! They instructed us to email a copy of our reciept to them and they will add them when they get around to it. Instead of while we waited.

We are frequent movie goers at Megaplex Theaters. Generally, we are very pleased with the service and the accommodations. This past Saturday, March 25 I took my mother to see Beauty and the Beast. I seated her and then left to get popcorn and drinks. The movie started at 3:05. I stood in the line for 25 minutes. They only had three employees who were frantically trying to fill everyones order. And to top it off one of the employees left to help a customer carry several tubs of popcorn leaving only two employees to get drinks, make popcorn, etc. My suggestion on a busy Saturday afternoon would be to staff at least five people behind the counter. There were quite a few disgruntled customers with the length of time it was taking to get served. The staff was polite, and were hustling as best they could but with amount of people they were trying to help it was still a very long wait. I missed the first ten minutes of the show. Please on Saturdays when you know you are going to have a big crowd, staff accordingly.

I fall on the high side of 3.5 stars. I like all Megaplex Theatres because they always have a lot of movies and almost always a showtime that works for me and my crazy schedule. But at this particular location, which I dont travel to often (usually only for IMAX movies), its always super crowded so the concessions stands get overwhelmed. Customer service seems to suffer a lot because of this. And the popcorn is almost always just on the wrong side of stale. And like everybody else, the prices are kind of outrageous. I know most theatres make their money on snack bar sales, but seriously... With how many people go to the movies on a daily basis, I really feel like the exorbitant prices are just a way to "stick it" to the customer... On another note, the parking lot is always a nightmare. It wasnt very well designed and is often confusing to navigate, but luckily there are usually open spots, although when it gets busier they are harder to find.

The movie experience itself was great. Comfortable seats, good sound and picture. BUT their night manager is horrible at his job. Just last night when I was there he was wandering around hiding in the back and only coming to help of someone couldnt get a till working while his employees were trying to run the till, restock all the food, and fill peoples orders. All 3 stations were open, and while when I first got in line every till had a person on it and things were going smoothly, then they began to run out of product and it ended with only 1 person at each station and a 30 MINUTE WAIT. When I finally got my turn to order the poor girl looked so overwhelmed I had to order 2x because she ran my card but left items off. Hire a new night manager, this one does NOT support his team when things get busy; he goes and hides in the back looking around corners to see if its still busy.

To be brief: Its a fine theater, but I took my kids to a 7:20 show last night and sat through 8 minutes of advertisements, 10 minutes of trailers, and another 2 minutes of ads. I didnt pay $75 for 4 tickets, concessions, so that a movie theater could show me ads. This is the reason I dont watch TV and its the reason I wont go back to the movies. Oh, and the texters / talkers dont help, either. I have to look like an a**hole in front of my kids to ask people to shut it down. Seriously, stop advertising to me. If its before the movie time and Im early, fine. If the movie starts at 7:20, start the dang movie.
