Good place to meet up with a friend for a glass of win, talk and one of their films. Its a bit ecletic, like speakeasy from years back, in its setup inside. I like it for a friend visit, and its easy access downtown. Friendly people, good service. When they had a weekday special that included a special price for a glass of wine, popcorn and the movie, it wasnt mentioned or honored, though we asked for it. The wine price was changed. We just paid slightly more than was is promoted on their site. This is strange. Why offer week day promotions if you have no plans to honor them? Save money and lose a customer? I suspect its difficult to make a living is why, with this little theatre. But then again, that wasnt expensive wine we had in the 1st place--just honor the deals without us having to make a big deal of it. Usually in a professional setting for networking when I come, so wouldnt make a big deal of it. But I know it and dont appreciate it.

FilmBar is a source of many forms of entertainment in one! First and most importantly, they are an indie cinema. They play all kinds of movies here (check their calendar online). I loved watching Casablanca in theater with a glass of wine and some popcorn. I was even able to attend an event where they played Pink Floyd over Wizard of Oz, and held a discussion beforehand. Oftentimes they will play new indie releases that you just wouldnt be able to see elsewhere! They offer an extensive craft beer selection, along with a nice selection of wine. You can even come here without seeing a movie simply to enjoy the drinks and ambience. Hot tip: every last Saturday of the month, Djentrification (a favorite local DJ) hosts his world music dance night "Palace Party" here. Get dressed up, have some drinks and dance to music from all over the world! So fun.

The FilmBar is a terrific venue showcasing independent, cult, and older films. A nice selection of beer, with a smattering of available wines, adds to the cozy, eclectic ambiance. Its convenient location in downtown Phoenix, and close proximity to the light rail, makes adding it to a night out simple. (The business is bicycle friendly as well, with a well-lit bike chain-up area right outside the front door!) If youre not interested in seeing a movie, you can always hang out in the communal area out near the bar. The staff is helpful and great conversationalists. And patrons are relaxed and open to meeting new people. Whenever I want a night out without all the hassle, I head to the FilmBar. I dont need to check the schedule, they are always showing something interesting enough to watch and relax with a beer or glass of wine.

Loved watching a flick here! Really exceptional staff. Fun atmosphere & lots of art & great decor. Sort of tucked away in a difficult to get to neighborhood, but so worth the effort. Ticket prices are comparable to theater chains. There are a few snack options & if you get a good cashier, you might even get a free refill on your soda. Seating is comfy, view of screen is perfect, sound is amazing. Free parking & lots of interesting murals all over the walls outside. Great selection of varying and eclectic films that changes often. Terrific place to go for a date or with friends. Not really a place to take children. Feels more like a refuge for grown ups. I loved seeing a movie here & plan to go back again & again.

This is hands-down my favorite place to go when Im downtown. It has a very cozy bar to sit at with inviting bartenders, or you can go into the more intimate back room with tables and murals on the walls. Definitely check out a film while youre there too. The theatre exudes indie charm. Chandeliers hang from the ceiling and there are tables in the back that let you converse before the movie begins. But dont expect your big-budget flick when you go. They only show independent films, documentaries or classics depending on the theme of the month-- e.g. October is monster month so they show Halloween and American Psycho. For film nerds like me, this is the place to be Phoenix.

Fav place in town! Craft beer, food (or bring your own), patio, and Cheap tickets for most movies. Many interesting independent films, as well as old favorites (think anywhere from Goonies to Kung Fury). Awesome atmosphere and during the early hours , it is a calm place to chat or even get some work done with a great craft beer (they always have Four Peaks Peach Ale on draft... Yay!!!). As the hours move on, it becomes more of a busy social hour environment. Also, new patio just installed for after the sun goes down and it cools off in the summer. :-) My only criticism is that it doesnt open earlier so I can come more often!

This place was really awesome. Went with the NERDs Meetup group to watch summer wars. I really liked the atmosphere of the place. The drinks were priced ok. The theater was an actual theater (I sort of assumed it was going to be a bar with a TV behind the counter but it was an honest to goodness lights out theater seating room with a projector and everything). The image quality was great as well as the audio. Im bringing my wife back this week just to show her!

I love FilmBar. They play some amazing independent films that youre not going to see anyplace else in Phoenix. Ive had a great experience every time Ive been. Be sure to grab some dinner nearby at one of many great downtown restaurants, then come to FilmBar for a drink before the show and hang out in their lounge. Plus, get a free ticket to a show on your birthday!

Made my first visit to the FilmBar tonight - definitely not my last. What a cool place! It was super slow, but granted I went for a late Monday night show - greatly enjoyed sipping some beer and relaxing to watch a movie. Also, the tamales live up to the hype - as others have already mentioned, let me just reiterate: seriously delicious!

It is a perfect venue. It solves that awkward problem where a movie date is a nonsocial encounter. I dont even bother researching the films anymore; I just show up and buy a ticket because they dont show bad ones. Also, look out for their livingsocial deals. Those make an already perfect experience even better.

I had a wonderful experience here, the people are great, and the staff gives excellent service. I love the local selection of beverages being a business owner myself I try to support local as much as I can. The place is busy with people I am glad others support this because I really enjoy independent films.

This is a great place. I am not a big movie theater fan, however this is a very nice relaxing place to watch a film. The Tamales they serve are yummy! Best of all, when the film started, no cell phones went off. Cannot recommend this place enough. My wife and I will certainly be going back. Cheers!
