I play this course every week, and love it. The poor reviews are outdated, or uncalled for. The Wheel is not Pebble Beach, but it does feature two unique and challenging tracks. Both courses are constantly being upgraded, and within a matter of time the Black course will become one of Connecticuts best municipal courses. The greens on both courses are fantastic, the fairways still need work, and the bunkers are under construction. My biggest gripe is the tee boxes are in need of serious work on several holes. Overall you can not beat the value, and playing these two courses regularly will make you a better golfer.

To be honest, the course is overprice for what it is (I paid $25 w/ a cart to play 9 after 3PM) but its convenient if you live in the Fairfield area. I have played the red course twice and the black only once. The black course is in much better shape than the red, and is not nearly as hilly and ridiculous as the red course. Its actually night and day between the two. Not a huge fan of the course overall but its worth playing if you want to get a round in. If you want a nice place to work on your game check out the South Pine Creek Par 3 in Fairfield!

and is once again a beautiful and challenging golf course. This year (2008) the City of Bridgeport has rebuilt all the bunkers and added new bunkers to the Black Course and combined with all the other improvements this course is nothing short of amazing. The "Wheel" is sure to give all the other area courses a run for their money. I have lived in Fairfield for 20 years and just discovered this golf course and am glad I finally did.

Gotta love the wheel! Its a great place to play golf at a very reasonable price. And they have great practice putting greens there that you can use for free. As for people who complain about the snack bar, dont you have better things to worry about? Maybe you should just bring a snack with you the next time you play at the Wheel!

If you want a decent cheap round of golf - this is your place (red or black). If you want a snack or food - do not get it at the snack counter - The service there is all dependent on who is manning the counter - Today for example, the old guy was rude and nasty right around noon.

Easy to play and sometimes the starters/staff are nice. It is really hit or miss with people that work there. Much like a gun shop or gun range I would say, in how they treat their customers. 18 hole courses: Black and Red. So there is never a hold up!

I have played on this course 3 times in the last month. The red course is not amazing, but the black course is a hidden gem. If your looking for a quick 9 holes for $15, play the back 9 of the black course, you wont be disappointed.

The only reason why I didnt rate 5 stars is because of the practice range. Its terrible! Everything else is 5 stars
