This movie theatre is updated and fantastic, with a flair of modern. Pros: Reclining seats with enough room to stretch out and enjoy a movie in the most relaxing position possible. Every seat has a great view and the seats are easy to find. Reserved seating guarantees you your favorite seat, and can be reserved as early as movie listings are posted. The popcorn is delicious and the soda dispenser, with virtually unlimited choices, is the current kid in a candy store dream. The location and parking make it easy to arrive and depart without traffic back-ups or complications. The bathrooms have plenty of stalls and are always clean and stocked. Cons: The AMC website and app have glitches making it (sometimes) hard to purchase tickets (thank goodness I live close enough to this theatre to run down and purchase tickets in a pinch). The theatre is seriously understaffed. I visited on 7/4/17 and the concession line was 27 people deep, with only 3 employees working the counter. Only one employee was working the ticket desk and the line outside mirrored the one inside (computers were slow that day, I had to go to the customer service desk to resolve my ticket problem of overcharging for a Stubs Premier Member). Large refills are only granted to Premier members after membership is confirmed (so if you leave your movie to get a refill of popcorn, make sure to bring your Stubs Card to the counter). AMC is the only movie theatre company that does not allow refills on purchases of popcorn at anytime. For example: I frequent the movies often (almost weekly, even 4 times in one week) and wasnt able to redeem my large popcorn refill even the next day (or later that evening). All other theatres in the area allow large popcorn refills (limit one, any day or time) with a purchase of a large popcorn. Finally, twice in the last few weeks, I have experienced viewing previews that were rated higher than the movie that was to be viewed. An intense, violent, overly sexualized preview was played (Rated R) in a Pg-13 (The Mummy) and Wonder Woman viewing. Shocking....for the children and those not choosing to view said genre. Overall, the this movie theatre is worth the visit, it is clean and comfortable, with a main draw of the morning movie viewing price of $5 per ticket.

They dont clean the theaters, thank goodness! Shortly after leaving the theater on Saturday I realized I was missing my wallet. There were 2 places it could be. I didnt use it to purchase anything at the theater, so it could be at home. The other possibility was that I left it in the theater. I remembered digging around in my purse for some contact drops before the movie started, so maybe I took my wallet out and left it on the seat. I started driving home already so I figured I would just run in the house and see if it was there. I called the theater a TON of times on the way home , somebody answered once and hung up on me, otherwise the calls were just ignored. The wallet was not at home, so I went back to the theater. First I went to the customer service/ticket booth to see if it had been turned in. The young man asked me for a description, and pulled out a binder to see if it had been turned in and written down. No luck there. I asked if I could just go see if it was still in the theater. The next showing of the movie was already starting. luckily nobody had purchased tickets for the seats we were in, so I went up to check them out. There it was! My wallet was sitting untouched in the middle of the seat!! It was easy to spot, a big brown wallet in the middle of the bright red chair.... nobody cleaned the theater, lucky me!!

No matter how early I get there Im always made late by the pressure to get or update my AMC card (this is why I am NOT going to update it). Today I took my son to see HTTYD2. There was a large, crescent scratch at the top center of the screen that was horribly distracting. I got up within the first few minutes to tell someone and nothing was done. I was basically told to just go back to my seat. I did stay through the movie because it was evident that nothing was going to be done as far as a refund if I chose to leave early (I would have rather taken the money and gone to a different theater). After the movie I addressed management politely. I explained that I had sat through the movie, and thus didnt want a refund, but that it should have been addressed. At this point I was called a liar by the manager on staff. She told me it was a "crease" from when the screens were mailed. This wasnt a crease and the effect was glaring. I was insulted enough that I told her I wouldnt be back and began to walk away (not once raising my voice or speaking harshly to her) and she had the nerve to call after me "HAVE A NICE DAY!" and laughed. I will absolutely not be going back. There are at least 3 other affordable theaters in the area that I can go to instead. I suggest going to these before you go to this AMC.

I rarely do reviews, but felt this was so bad that it should be shared. We purchased tickets on-line ahead of time but still showed up about 45 minutes early, based on other reviews that it took time for food to be prepared. We ordered two hot dogs, a popcorn and a drink. We received the popcorn and drink and were given our ticket number for the hot dogs as they were not ready. 10 minutes later, we received one of the hot dogs. They forgot the other hot dog and said they would get it prepared and bring it to us. After about 20 minutes and still no hot dog, went to check on it, and stood there for about 10 minutes before I could flag someone down and ask about the hot dog. She mumbled something to the effect of itll be ready soon and another 5 minutes went by. By this time the movie was already starting. There were at least three people standing around in the back doing nothing while this one girl was working on all the food orders coming in. Finally received the hot dog, but waiting over 35 minutes for something that should have been ready in five, is ridiculous. Not to mention the reclining seats were only somewhat comfortable and the popcorn was burnt. We will never go back to AMC and choose to stick with Harkins.

Havent been here since mid 2000s (when I was a teen). It was a fun place to hang out back then, but as a mid 20s guy, its gone way downhill. Todays Google results showed only 8 movies playing (none of which were what I was looking for). With 24 screens, are you kidding me? 13 Hours isnt even 2 weeks old. Despite prices going up in the last 10 years due to various reasons, my one saving grace was the student discount, which I hear is apparently no longer a thing. I couldve dealt with it only being offered on Thursdays, but not at all? Thats a major problem My last point isnt AMCs fault by any means, but the location just isnt as hoppin as it used to be. In fact Im only ever on that corner to take my girlfriend to Texas Roadhouse or if Im stopping at the new Canes on the way home. I like having a variety of places surrounding the theater Im going to go to for when I hang with my friends. Chandler mall, Tempe Marketplace, San Tan mall, San Tan on Gilbert and 202, and heck even AZ Mills just has more to offer. Its understandable if you live right near here, or dont have the means to get to further places. But honestly, youd be better off going to literally ANY Harkins location
