You really cant expect much this golf course has been around since the 1920s, it used to be 18 holes, but they sold the land to Farmer Jack, which is now Kroger, Burger King, CVS UAW hall, and a bank, and also the subdivision on Venoy was part of it as well, it was called Birch Hill Golf Course, they seemed to start doing poorly, after they built the subdivisions in the 1950s, between Merriman, Cherry Hill, Henry Ruff, and Avondale. And also from Birchwood, (which is the street that it borders) to Palmer, from Merriman to Venoy, minus about 40 acres on the NE corner of Palmer and Venoy. Known as the Birch Hill Subdivisions 1-16. Just a little bit of history, for the history buffs out there.

This course is only 9 holes and costs $21.50 i believe. Its a rip off, it has done nothing so far to merit the hike in price from $15. All 9 holes are tightly packed together and usually touches each other. The staff is very very friendly and the ranger likes to come by and joke around with you. The difficulty is very easy, i have been playing for maybe a year and a half and shoot low 50s here. It was worth it to me for $15, but not for $21.50. Every hole is flat, some water in places, gravel cart paths are terrible with large pits, and tree roots coming up. Westland gets a zero, which is the same amount of times im coming back.

Nice little practice course and the clubhouse staff is very nice but they let too many kids and women who dont understand golf etiquette clog up play. Today an older women and 10 year old girl were taking 10-12 shots a hole and never once stopped and allowed us to play through. We finally just jumped past her but this kind of thing is very unpleasant. There are too many people on courses who belong on driving ranges. It wouldnt be so bad if they played quickly or showed courtesy, but most dont. Especially not this woman.

I really like this place if I dont have much time available. I can breeze through the 9 holes in about an hour and 15 minutes, provided there arent people in front of me. No par 5s, 2 par 3s, and 7 par 4s. The course is alright, but some of the people that go there might need to goto the range first. Everyone is really friendly though!

ILL give this place 4 stars. Yes its not the BEST conditioned course, but it is starting to get better. And people need to stop complaining. Its cheap, and you get what you pay for, otherwise dont go
