On a couples wedding day you may be thinking that is the best day of their lives but you would be wrong. It was at this moment that I was at my saddest point on my wedding day. I married the perfect man but chose the wrong venue, East Ivy Mansion. I remember the day my wedding planner and I came for a visit, I was so overwhelmed with joy, when I got in my car to call my fiancé and express to him how I had found the perfect place for us to get married. He was excited because I was elated and could not stop talking about how beautiful this venue was. East Ivy Mansion is breathtaking! It is truly a hidden jewel until you get to the business aspect of it and the disappointment slowly evolved. Although, my journey to finding the perfect venue started in October 2014, there were two venues that I was considering; Noah Liff Opera Center and East Ivy Mansion. On December 19, 2014, James and I said “yes” to East Ivy Mansion. I thought that we had asked all the right question and was given all the needed information. However, it was not until two months before our wedding day that the bottom begins to fall out of the perfect place and turned into a financial nightmare and contract burden. However we were at the end of our road and had to make this process a great day and close to perfect for our family, friends and ourselves, since we were constantly bombarded with abrupt changes, inconsistences, ineffective communication, broken promises and unprofessionalism, yet our contract bounded us to East Ivy Mansion. You may say what happened? How could this beautiful place be such a disappointment? 1. The amount we were quoted only pays for the venue. ( that did not include anything else) 2. There is a surcharge to the amount you pay the preferred food vendor. 3. you are charged for the parking lot where the valet park the cars. 4. If you did BYOB you were charged for a liquor licenses. consequently our toast were done with water. 5. The DJ changed 4 times and he was horrible but we were stuck with an arrogant and unprofessional DJ. 5. the week of our wedding we were giving a bill that was unexpected. 6. the staff was polite but constantly slip charges for everything.( tables and chairs for dj and caterer) 7. We were unable to have a rehearsal unless we paid an additional fee. So we had to have a rehearsal the day of the wedding. 8. we were constantly told that the owners were out of town and no one stayed at the house. Was the reasons we had to be charged for additional fees. 9. The venue could not comfortable hold 200-250 people. They could not hear or see the bride and groom dance, cut the cake, or meet guest due to the tight floor plan. 10. I do not feel that they wanted an African American middle class family wedding there. Although I never dreamed of this day turning out this way, the only good thing about choosing East Ivy Mansion is the pictures. With tears in my eyes that my husband wiped away, I must admit the pictures were amazing. The photographer whom did his best to capture the moment, may have left out a lot of family and friends in pictures. however it was the pictures that soften the disappointment. It my desire is to share with future brides and grooms so they will not feel the way I felt on my wedding day! Also with all the been said no one has contacted us or sent a thank you for having our wedding there. Which further leads me to believe that they do not care after they received their money! I would not recommend this venue to anyone! I will do go some where else because I truly wish I did!! The venue itself was great! ...but thats where it ends. The very main issue was communication and the lack of professionalism shown by a particular staff member. If you plan to have your wedding here I would highly recommend that you hire a wedding planner (not theirs) that is well versed in the business prior to committing. At every turn during the process it was proven to us that we should have had a planner on board first to help with selecting a venue and reviewing the contract. There were so many things that we were told and we had to go back and tell them that the contract says "this" or "that". Cross check East Ivys mark ups on outside vendors with other venues costs. Also, make sure EVERYTHING you discuss with their rep is in the contract. Our wedding went well but we credit this entirely to our wedding planner, Sarah at Music City Events. Given the opportunity, we would go back and choose another venue. Their staff caused unnecessary stress during an already stressful time. GO ELSEWHERE!

Jamie, Coby, and the rest of the staff were amazing, and our wedding wouldnt have been the same anywhere else. We live in a different state, so we had our initial meeting with Jamie when we first saw the property, and then all of our planning was done long distance until we got into town 2 days before our wedding. Even with that, everything went off seamlessly. Jamie & Coby were able to get all of the decor Id brought into place perfectly, and Jamie even got us chargers delivered at the last minute, when we mistakenly didnt realize we had left those off of our rental company invoice. Side note - If you have the opportunity to have John photograph you from The Exposure Studios, definitely do! He was so fun, made us so comfortable, knows the property inside & out, gave great directions, and at 1 point was even carrying around my lipgloss for me. I really cant say thank you to them enough!

Can I give more than 5 stars?! Our mid-September wedding at East Ivy was a dream! Throughout the course of planning, Jamie was extremely helpful - from referring me to vendors to giving me advice on what lighting/draping looks good and helping me visualize the layout and develop the timeline. The venue itself is beyond stunning, with many different options of where ceremony/reception/dancing can be. I was so bummed when rain was in the forecast for our big day...we decided to use the tents based on the chance of rain. I thought that would take away from how beautiful the venue is, and I was wrong. It was STUNNING with the tents! The location of EIM is perfect - close enough to downtown, but not in the heart of the the honky tonks. We loved staying overnight at the mansion afterwards after our reception was over to continue the celebrating with our wedding party. Book your wedding here now!

My wedding at East Ivy was everything I dreamed my wedding would be and more! The location is absolutely breathtaking. Although there was a switch in my wedding date, Jamie and the manager did everything they could in making sure we were happy. There were also a few times that communication as delayed. But besides that there is nothing bad I can say about this venue. I didnt like the fact that even though we used their preferred vendors we still had to pay a service fee not included in the venue cost. As a DIY bride every penny mattered. I would suggest to make sure you include your service fee as you book things. I would recommend this location for any occasion. Thanks to the East Ivy staff for making my day perfect and memorable!!!
