The ONLY reason I go to this movie theater is because its the only one in Ames. This place has some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. The employees seem constantly annoyed with the customers, and the prices are slightly ridiculous for the quality of the movie theater. A couple months ago I went to a movie and left my keys in the theater. About an hour later I realized I had left them and so I called and spoke with the manager. She told me that a man came out and asked if they had a lost and found, to which the employee said yes. The man then said "Nevermind, Ill just figure out whose they are myself." and the employee LET this man walk out with another persons keys. The manager was somewhat helpful, but told me there was nothing she could do. A couple weeks after that incident, I called the theater to ask when a certain movie would be showing at the theater, as I had seen a poster for it the last time I went. The girl on the phone said "I dont know. I would have to go look in my book to find out. Youd be better off looking it up yourself." I hung up the phone. Its your run of the mill college town movie theater, and it works for its purpose. That being said, it is outdated, overpriced, and has some of the worst customer service Ive ever experienced.

****Changes since last post: seats have been renovated...much more space and comfotability for average people. Both friends now go. I grab a booster seat and put it on the floor so my feet dont dangle with new seats, but they feel good on your butt. I havent seen the employee who pocketed the money. Many employees are smiling at times more. Lastly...The school year has started up again so $5 Tuesdays are back to being awesome(with less folk). ***Old post: Good size theatres and sound system, time for new seats though. Renovation needed. My friend wont go with me because the seats hurt his back and my other friend wont go because she is a bit bigger and the arm rest dont go up. I end up going by myself a lot. Many of the employees dont seem happy to be there and one guy pocketd the cash once. I paid with card and my friend paid cash. He cupped it in his hand, opened the register, put nothing in, handed the tickets to us, then put his hand in his pocket, pulls it out empty. I always pay with my card whenever I see one of the young men.

Ordered their overpriced tickets online in advance (& paid their ridiculous "convenience" charge for the online order). Once we actually got to the theater and IN our seats, the manager asked us to move to accommodate someone in a wheelchair...no problem. He stated there were other seats open - NOT TRUE. So we had to leave that showing. Then he offered to get us into the next showtime, but once again, no seats were available. When we asked to speak to the Gen Manager to see what else could be done, we were told they were "too busy" to speak with us. Overall, HORRIBLE customer service & ordering your tickets in advance does NOT guarantee you a seat! The manager supposedly could NOT refund our money & at one point, he actually stated "he didnt know what he was doing." It was a huge waste of time & money to *try* seeing a movie at this theater. So, even if you order tix online days in advance, dont plan on seeing the movie ~ you may not get in at all & youll be treated like cr@p in the process!

I come here often, and the only problems Ive ever had at this theater were from the other people around me also "watching" the movie. Obviously theres not a whole lot management or employees can do about that, so I wont penalize them for it. For the reviews that say the theater is in need of renovating, they recently put in new, much more comfortable seats. The sound system is great. Im not sure why the décor matters to some people, as youre here to see a movie, not look at the walls, but theres nothing unflattering about it to me. I see a few people complain about prices, when this is actually a fairly cheap place to see a movie. The only places Ive ever seen cheaper are dollar theaters. I believe theaters dont make money on tickets, its mostly concessions, which is why food there is expensive everywhere you go.

worst cinema ever, the one who rates it more than two stars im sure he or she hasnt gone to any movies out of the state. I went there yesterday to watch the movie "limitless," I was 40 minutes late, they didnt let me in because I would disturb people inside the movie theator, and the women who works there told me if I have had a ticket itd be ok to get in. then she opened the door and said im goona have to ask you to leave now, and this what made me give this review, I mean the movie is small, and expensive, all of this you can add it to what happened with me. but if there are guys work there, they are very cool, once I went late also and there were only guys working, they let me in without even making me buy a ticket. they think the right way, but that woman, is making people give bad reviews about the place.

Very average movie theater. Always seems to have a layer of grease on everything. Staff likes to push the discount combos but are normally friendly people. Inside is decorated very strange and the arcade area games dont always properly function. The headrest area on some of the chairs is very disgusting but you cant see it because it is so dark. The very large bathrooms are a big plus about this theater. I wish the second concession stand on the other side of the theater was open so I dont have to fumble around like an idiot trying to hand the ticket taker my ticket with a popcorn and soda in my hand. It is a bit annoying to be IDd for a "R" movie when I clearly do not look 16 years old.

This review does not concern management, I am addressing it to patrons. For the fifth time in a row, able bodied Iowa men and women have refused to give up a handicap seat in the back row. They are clearly marked and if that is not enough, seeing me in a wheelchair should trigger at least one person to behave in a civil manner. People either ignore me or refuse to move when management ask them. The selfish and lazy always fill up the handicap row and leave the theater under their own power. Times really have changed, I expected more from fellow Iowans. So please continue to plop your overfed non-handicapped selves in seats marked for the less fortunate. I will never return.

Cinemark is the only theater left in Ames, so they pretty much have your money no matter what. With that being said, its a good theater with new releases and comfortable seating. I wish they would upgrade and add stadium seating, as they certainly make enough money at this location to do so. One problem today, they didnt open the doors until 10:40 am, the movie started at 10:50. They also only had 3 people working, so there were long lines. Im a weirdo who enjoy previews and missed out on a couple, so that bugged me, but otherwise, always a good experience.
