Let me tell you about my first experience at Pure Science Golf of Clearwater, FL... I started playing golf in 2015 (2 years ago). I have put in many hours of hard work both on/off the range/course to improve my game. I started buying technology to get more granular details to track improvements and nothing "paid off". I was so frustrated that I could never figure out why I made mistakes and I didnt want to spend more money on "the next new thing" or spend years of practice. I wanted to know NOW. Then I started seeing what the Pros were using, the TrackMan™ technology. I wanted to use this system so I started searching within Tampa Bay, Florida to find anybody who also cared about the numbers and real time feedback of their golf game. Searching Google, I found Pure Science Golf of Clearwater, FL. Ironically, I had previously seen their signage as I passed their location many times before on the south side of Ulmerton heading north to Tampa. Just the name peaked my curiosity! After navigating their website, I was happy to see their pricing listed and it was totally affordable to use the TrackMan and get custom fitted for every club in my bag! I decided to call and get some information. With a warm greeting, I was fortunate enough to actually speak with John Reynaud (the Owner). He was very easy to talk with and answered my many, many questions. :) With the information he gave me, I was confident to take the next step. We set up an appointment within a week and I have to admit I was really excited to finally get the real answers to golf game! I have to admit the location was a little difficult to access and I was unsure where the front door was but I just went with my gut and found it without a problem (follow the signs!). When I walked through the front door, I was so impressed with the setup! I felt right at home. The place was well organized, clean and professional. John was very welcoming and checking-in took no time at all. Walking back to one of the bays, the wall was filled with one of the widest selections I have seen of golf club shafts and heads. Unlike most golf shops, you can tell each shaft and club head was meticulously selected for a purpose. John then took his time to explain the process of using the TrackMan system by myself. He trusted me to use the system and he wasnt sitting over my shoulder. I felt very comfortable. Throughout my session he would stop in and explain data points and even gave me a couple tips. For example, my Attack Angle on my driver was as low as -6 (this means I am coming over the top and really this number should be at least + ). John gave me a correction tip and I increased my total driving distance by at least 15 yards with much better stats. Truly, an eye opening experience to get that much feedback and best of all, I was able to delete some of my outliers to get a more accurate report with graphics that show my ball flights all in one easy to read, valuable report. All this for $60 is unbelievable! Again, the experience, the instant feedback, the critical data all for $60 is an unbelievably great deal IMO for any amateur or professional, bottom line. Will I go again? Yes. Will I get better at my golf game? Im hopefully certain because I know now what I didnt know then and that gives me the confidence to enjoy the game all the more. The numbers dont lie. I hope this encourages other golfers to make it a point to push their game and never stop progressing. In October 2015, I undertook a complete golf club fitting at the new Pure Performance Golf Labs Tampa Bay. John Reynaud and T. J. Shelton have established a world-class facility in Clearwater that offers the average golfer a unique professional-caliber fitting experience. They spent more than four hours fitting me for a driver, fairway woods, irons, wedges and a putter. T. J.’s extensive professional fitting experience allowed him to quickly, and efficiently, zero in on the optimum clubs for me. We all hit non-optimal golf shots, and T.J.’s focus on the dispersion of the hits to select the best club is the correct approach in my opinion. Also, one key capability offered by Pure Performance is the fact that they are not wedded to any one manufacturer, so that allows them to optimize the fitting across all club brands. Of course I was astounded by both John’s and T. J.’s expertise, but when combined with their positive attitude and encouragement the fitting became a delightful experience. I strongly encourage every average golfer to take advantage of the outstanding club fitting opportunity offered by Pure Performance Golf Labs Tampa Bay. Today, December 1, 2015, I took my first lesson with T. J. Shelton to improve my swing dynamics in order to maximize the improvement offered by the new club dynamics. Personally, I think he is an excellent teacher, on par with instructors like Mike Bender, from whom Ive had several lessons. T. J.s knowledge and communication are superb! In a final note, I caution golfers who get clubs fitted using a Foresight system, such as that employed by GOLFTEC, rather than a Trackman used by Pure Performance. I learned from personal experience that one really needs to incorporate the "smash factor" into the swing dynamics, especially when using the dispersion of hits to select the optimum clubs. A Trackman system, which is central to the Pure Performance system, uses the dynamics of the club strike on the ball. The data generated by the dynamic interface between club head and ball are measured by a Trackman system and are not available on a typical Foresight system. The fitting solution is simple: use a Trackman to get fit for golf clubs, and let the Pure Performance team drive the Trackman.

As a long-time low-handicap player who has always enjoyed tinkering with golf clubs, I thought I had a pretty good understanding for how to select the right tools for my game. Early into the fitting process with John and TJ, I realized I am far from an expert. Between John’s understanding for the golf swing and TJ’s experience in fitting countless players of all abilities, I was very impressed with how quickly they were able to identify the shaft/head combinations that were going to work best for me. Many fitters out there have learned by reading technical information spit out by the manufacturers but lack the real-world “instinct” that the best at their trade have. This, along with the state of the art technology present at the Pure Performance fitting studio, gave me tremendous confidence that I was getting what I paid for. Since receiving my new woods from Pure Performance, I have seen a level of consistency in my long game I had not previously experienced. Golf is a game of misses and the best way to improve is by improving the quality of your bad shots. This is the difference I have noticed the most. The good shots with my new clubs are great but it’s the lack of the round-killing misses that have me the most impressed. I look forward to finishing out the rest of my bag with clubs from Pure Performance, I will never waste money again on guessing by buying clubs anywhere else.
