Customers appreciate the comfortable reclining seats and the spacious arrangement. The theater is also praised for its visual and audio quality. However, some users have pointed out that the theater could improve its cleanliness.
The staff is generally considered to be friendly, but there are instances where management has been criticized for poor customer service. Some customers have had issues with ticketing and seating, which were not resolved to their satisfaction.
The theater offers online booking and reserved seating, which customers find extremely convenient. This feature allows patrons to choose their seats in advance, eliminating the need to arrive early to secure a good spot.
While the ticket prices are considered reasonable, the concession stand prices are a point of contention among patrons. Some defend the high prices, stating that this is how theaters make their profit, while others find it excessive.
The XD experience is highly praised for enhancing the movie-watching experience. However, some customers feel that the regular theater experience could be improved, particularly in terms of sound quality.
The concession stand offers a variety of snacks and even has a Starbucks. However, customers have noted that the stand is often understaffed and that some advertised items are not available.
The theater is located in a place that some customers are willing to drive over 30 minutes to reach, bypassing closer options. This indicates a strong preference for this particular venue.

Cinemark Theater in Altoona is a popular venue for movie-goers, offering a range of experiences from standard screenings to the XD experience. It's a part of the larger Cinemark chain, known for its quality service. While it excels in many areas, there are opportunities for improvement, particularly in customer service and concession management.

Excellent theatre. Comfortable seating, the XD experience is phenomenal. To the people complaining about concession prices... Grow a brain. Movie theatres dont make any money off of box office ticket sales. Those profits go to the movie companies that produce these movies. The theatre overcharges for concessions because thats how they make their money. No different than when you go to a baseball game, or a football game and pay higher concession prices at the stadium. Without the higher prices the theatres wouldnt be able to operate. Youve got to pay to play, if you want to go out and watch movies in the theatre youre going to pay the price. If you dont want to pay high prices, wait, go to a dollar theatre when the move you want to see is past its life expectancy, or wait for the movie to come out on DVD or Blu-Ray. I laugh too at the people complaining about cleanliness. Could you be any more pretentious? Its a business ran by a bunch of high school kids who get paid next to nothing, and often companies like Cinemark, Carmike, etc... Keep the theatres running on the minimum amount of staff possible. Thats how theatres work. More staff during rush times, and on weekends, and less staff during the down times and during the week. Anywho, Ive been to this theatre quite a few times, I used to be a concessionist back when I was in high school. Cinemark in Altoona is easily the nicest theatre around right now. Id rank Jordan Creek, and Flix Brewhouse a close 2nd and 3rd. If you dont mind a little bit dirty and run down, and want to take in a movie with less obnoxious teens to ruin the experience check out Southridge 12. But all in all the Cinemark is a nice theatre that offers a wide variety of options as to how you want to watch the movie, and how much you want to pay.

Just had our first experience at this theater. The movie viewing was a great experience, with comfortable recliners, drink holders, seats spaced so you always have a great view. Visual and audio quality great! The theater did not seem very clean, trash full as we left trying to throw away our trash meant balancing it on top of a mountain of trash overflowing out of trash can. Consessions area wasnt that clean either and seemed understaffed with many items advertised not available! I was excited about the fact that they have a Starbucks, but in reality they only offer a fraction of the drinks that Starbucks offers and they were even out of whipped cream for the Starbucks drinks. I will add that I mentioned this to the cashier and they only charged me for a small frappaccino for my large, since whipped topping wasnt on it. The girl didnt tell me ahead of time that no whip cream was available. Popcorn was mediocre, especially considering the price. At a theater I expect WONDERFUL popcorn...not what I got here. With the investment they have made in this theater they really need to step up the quality of service in concessions and the overall cleanliness of the place.

I live over 30 minutes away, and there are 5 theaters closer to me than this one, but I still absolutely make the trek to this theater above all others. Heres why: 1) Amazing seats - Power, reclining seats which are super comfortable. Plenty of spacing in between rows so you dont have to be bothered by people walking in front. Rows are elevated such that a tall person in front of you will not block your view. Seats are "loveseat" style, with each "loveseat" having its own armrests so you dont have to share arm space with your unknown neighbor. 2) Reserved seating - This is amazing, and took to long to exist. Order your tickets online, pick the exact seat you want, and never worry if youll get a good seat, be in a sold out show, and you dont have to arrive 30 minutes early wasting your own time to ensure you get a good seat. 3) You can put your own butter on your popcorn! I dont know about you, but the staff never seem to put the right amount of butter on. Its either too much or too little. They have the exact same butter dispensers out in the concession area for your own use, so you can make it perfect.

The theater itself is great. I love coming here, except for today in particular. The managers handle on customer service was absolutely terrible. Since I purchased the tickets on fandango, I got to pick my see seats, which is a neat option. Long story short, I purchased those specific seats. I didnt have the physical tickets to get into the theater room, so the manager told me that she couldnt let me in even though I have the receipt and scan code to prove I bought those seats. She told me that someone else could already have bought those seats, which doesnt make any sense because I bought those seats. She demanded that I have the physical tickets. I told her that I would have to drive 30 min back and forth to get them from home. Cant the receipt and scan code be proof enough? Nope. She finally let my wife and I in with a conditional that if someone is already in out seats, we would not be able to the them. Theres just no logic to this. Terrible management!

This was my first time here. I never go to the theater anymore but I wanted to see Guardians of the Galaxy 2. The recliner seats are great! And the grade of the stadium seating is perfect, I actually forgot people were in front of me. I love that you can reserve your seats online too. However, the screen had a pattern on it that was destracting enough to see it while the movie was playing. The sound is not good. Its way too low and it sounds like the center channel is missing so the voices are hard to hear and the surround sound is not calibrated properly. Its sad really, because all the parts are already in place to make this place a really nice theater experience. I was in the "regular" theater, maybe the "XD" would be better, but that shouldnt matter, it shouldnt cost more to have proper sound. I wont be back. I have recliners at home, my TV has a better picture and my surround sound is properly adjusted. Ill wait for Blu-ray next time.

UPDATE - 7/7/17 - Situation has been resolved. Local manager and regional manager called me back and we discussed the situation. Everything has been resolved in a fair way. Many companies wouldnt bother getting back to you, let alone hearing what your concerns were, and offering a REAL possible solution going forward. Very impressed with the regional management. Heres to hoping all continues to go well after a negative experience has been made much better. Thank you Robert Ive edited my original post to shorten the details... We had an issue with a member of the management team at Altoona. She asked us to leave because she displayed some poor judgment, but was within her rights to do so, and we complied. We missed a fireworks display, which was regrettable. I complained to her managers, and they replied with a satisfactory resolution for our incident, and some proposed remedy for future 4th of July fireworks issues.

We just went here for the first time tonight. Over all the only things I liked about the theater are the film I saw and the chairs. We did see the film on an XD screen but it didnt make the experience any better. Overall the design is pretty poorly done. The ticket booth, is just shoved in a corner, and the concession stands are right next too it. The concession stands are poorly staffed, and the lines get so long they end up backing up into the ticket booth which causes things to become rather chaotic. It gets even more chaotic when you are just trying to get drinks as they are self serve (which is fine) but then everyone merges into a huge mess trying to pay for their stuff. Also this is the first theater Ive seen that doesnt offer free refills. Not that I ever get them, but for 4.00+ dollars for a medium, you think theyd be able to afford it. All in all, in the end you will have just as good experience elsewhere.
