First the good. The renovation looks great. I like the reclining chairs. The movies always appear crystal clear and the sound is great. I do like how the movie theater occasionally does fathom events like rifftrax. If you are just wanting to see a movie its pretty good. Now the bad. Tickets......they have changed where you can purchase tickets. There are two lines for the concession stands and then one for tickets. The farthest cashier next to the entry way into the movie area is the ticket line and it makes no sense. People generally buy tickets first, concessions second, then go into the movie. So maybe have lines arranged in a logical way? The ticket line gets hidden by the lines for concessions. I know this because the cashiers constantly have to yell at people to go to that line to get the tickets. It makes the staff seem grumpy. My biggest complaint has to be concessions. The concessions are a joke. $5 for a hotdog (grumble grumble use your swear word of choice). Its a hotdog. I know they make their money on concessions but thats ridiculous. They also know their prices are ridiculous because they constantly have to send out coupons with "deals" that say "$2 off a pop with full purchase of nachos". Might as well say "$2 off pop with purchase of elephant". Save the money from advertising and put the hotdogs in the $3-$3.50 range. Put concessions at a reasonable price so you dont have to constantly offer deals to get people to buy concessions. With limited seating you need to maximize the number of people buying food. You will sell more and actually make money off them. You can go anywhere in the mall and get food. DQ is awesome and sells hotdogs and sloppy joes for cheap prices. Go there. There are no refills on pop at the theater, which they used to do a long time ago and should have been reinstated. Sometimes the movie staff seems a bit overwhelmed and a little grumpy. Its not a bad theater but I tend to prefer stadium 6 next to Minnesota State University-Mankato. The staff at stadium always seem friendly, there is a free refill on large pop (needed in the event the movie is awful, like Batman versus Superman, sometimes one needs an excuse to step out for a minute), they have buckets of a decent popcorn size that are actually worthwhile to get if you go to a lot of movies, and their reward card actually gives you free items after earning so many points (free beverages, free popcorn, even a free ticket on occasion). Those types of perks make a difference for my movie going experience. In summary, the mall movie theater is fine. But its not the best movie theater in town in my opinion. It has the potential to be really good with some additional changes to concessions and ticket lines.

I have been an move aficionado since my parents first took me to movies way back when. That being the case, I have visited all of Mankatos movie theaters: Carmike 4 (before it became Cinema Six), the remodeled Carmike Cinema Six, Maverick 4, and of course, Cinemark Movies 8. Of all the theaters in Mankato, Movies 8 is by far the best. First, the staff is great 99% of the time. They are friendly and quick, enough said. Second, the popcorn, pretzels, and other foods is better and less expensive than what Carmike serves. Third, the picture quality is is significantly better in terms of brightness and clarity. The only thing keeping this theater from being five stars are the older seats and bathrooms. However, for a 23 year old theater, it looks great. Although, I hope they put some money back into it.

This theater has really improved after the recent upgrades. The seats in the theaters are SO comfortable. The seats recline, have a foot rest, and have a tray for drink/food. There is limited seating, so going early to buy tickets and reserve seats is a must. The last movie I saw started at 4:10pm, and I arrived at 3:55pm thinking I could enter the theater early, except I had to wait in the Lobby until exactly 4:10pm and wait until the board said I could enter the theater. So, to maximize your visit, go buy tickets the day of the movie in advance, reserve seats, and get to the Lobby just before the showtime on your ticket! Great theater!

Sigh, where does one start. With the prime location it has in the River Hills Mall. This theater features nothing impressive besides size. Staff is lackluster (dont blame them seems like a bad place to work at), facility is old and dirty. Does not feature stadium seating and these "new seats" are just reused seats from a different theater. Bathrooms are disgusting. Thankfully they finally got Digital projectors. Prices are cheaper but you get what you paid for. If youre going to a movie in Mankato. Save your money and see a movie at CARMIKE STADIUM 6. Way better!

If you want more comfortable chairs, appropriate number of staff, and better service, save your money and go to the Cinegrand. Went to this theater on a Friday night. Hardly any staff available. I ordered tickets online (paying extra, mind you). No one checked the tickets, and no one seats you. I could have just not paid and seen the movie for free. Not to mention, with the terrible service, no one shows you to your assigned seat and there were people already in our pre-ordered seats. Terrible experience.

New Stadium Seating is neat, but nicer chairs mean fewer chairs, and they try to make up for it by assigning seats. My first time in, I found a guy sitting in "my" seat. Thankfully the show wasnt crowded and I just sat in another seat with no problems. The new seats are great though! A free refill on the large sodas would be nice. Constructions noises during our first viewing of "Deadpool" distracted me enough that I felt like I wanted to see it again for a no-distraction experience.

I thought the service was great the past few times I was here but have had a few ignorant people help me at the counter. They seemed upset about me bringing my entire family there and purchasing over 50$ of food at the concession stand. I give 3 stars because the other times the staff was extremely nice but all it takes to bring it down a few stars was one time. Of course still a great movie theater to bring the family if you are around mankato.

Im not a big fan of having to reserve a specific seat before I have seen the actual space, but the seats are pretty good. Selling tickets appears to be less of a priority than selling food, which is okay as long as you arent running late. Lights come up a little too soon during the credits, but staff dont crowd you if you stay to the end. Decent movie selection for the area, including solid options for regular (not "3D") screenings.

The theater chairs are super comfy but the bathrooms are consistently disgusting. Either stall locks are broken, toilet out of order, or worse toilets are left unflushed with toilet paper all over the floor. The movie theater needs to upgrade their bathrooms or have staff clean/check on them hourly. Actual movie experience is great until you need the bathroom.

My wife and I had a great experience here. Our service was very friendly and the reclining seats were very comfortable. There were a few messes around but that didnt bother me much because the seats seemed nice and clean. I would certainly recommend this theatre and plan to potentially return for special event showings (like the Pokémon movie we went for).
