It had been a number of years since I visited this theater. A long time ago the place had run down, the theaters smelled strong of moldy mop and the floors were sticky from all the residue that hadnt been cleaned up. Somebody really cleaned this place up!!! They have digital DLP projectors, great screens, new carpet, comfortable seating and the theaters are very clean all around. Even the bathrooms were clean. The theater did not have any odor this time. I will probably only go to this business in the future to see movies because it is much closer to my house, its cleaner, more pleasant staff, MUCH more reasonable prices. Two tickets on matinee were only $13!!!! I love this place now. If its been a while since you tried it out I would highly suggest you give it another try. Someone corrected all the old issues. Mark

The amazing
Movies the way they used to be. Where the bigger theaters have "luxurious" seating and prettier atmosphere, etc, their prices are outrageous, tickets and concession. Salem Valley 8 may not be spectacular ambiance, but Im paying to see a movie, not sit on a cloud and look at the pretty curtains. SV8 skips getting new carpet or updating random unnecessary interior decor and offers instead a decent price that you can take your kid to see a movie without having to skip paying the gas bill for a couple weeks afterward. The staff is excellent, very nice people, and do their job without being pretentious about it, unlike some other theaters I know. Ive boycotted all the other theaters in the area and have used SV8 solely for the past few years. Couldnt be happier with that decision! :)

The new changes they made is a headache, they only had one line open and the person in front of me was in line for 10 mins, so when its my turn, I was told they did away with small sizes, which I could only buy large or medium. And in other to get refills I had to sign up for a member ship and give my email address. And that took a while and the movie was starting. Then all the money I spent on popcorn it was stale, and we had to put our on butter on our popcorn, there was no fresh popcorn made after I said something, and get this when we did want a refill we had to show the membership card every time. Who has time for that, I thought coming to the money was a place to relax, not a pain. So good luck and get there a little early.

The staff is awesome, always has a greeting when you walk in, always smiling, the Theater is clean and spotless, rest rooms sanitized and in great shape. The ceiling is old and needs occasional repair but nothing dangerous. The movie screenings are great, good picture and sound and the POPCORN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....the best in the Valley and as far as i can tell the best in any other cinema i have been to. Love the place, we go 2-3 times a week, 5 year old granddaughter knows everyone and greets themwith hugs, this tells you something.....

Great place, popcorn is great, staff is great, and the people are great. Its a movie theater gor god sake. Not the companies fault if we the people mess up the seats and trash the place. Tell the person next to you or around you to police up after them selves. Stop being afraid to approach someone about there nasty ass, and let them know. If you are afraid to say something go pick it up yourself. Simple fix. World is full of confrontation, time to start one yourself.

Bought Star Wars tickets online, only to find that the cashier didnt know how to confirm my tickets. Extremely exorbitant popcorn/drink pricing. Was subjected to a drunk movie goer who insisted on singing throughout the movie -management was made aware of this, but failed to do anything about it.

Prices are great, staff is very friendly and helpful. It needs to be upgraded a little bit....some of the seats are getting old....but overall its a pretty decent theater....and they have the best prices in town!!!!!

Great theater! The review about lice claiming that their family was "clean" is irrelevant... lice like clean hair, do some research! The theater is a safe place to bring a family. Ive almost never had a problem here.

Every time Ive been, something has always been wrong. One time the sound quit working towards the end of the movie. Another time, there was a huge smudge on the movie screen. The staff didnt seem concerned at all.

My favorite place to watch movies on the big screen. They have $5 Tuesdays which is great bcz I dont like to spend a lot of money on movies. And on Tuesdays the popcorn drink and candy are all $2 or $3.

Its an okay theater, but the dumpiest one in Roanoke. If youre in Salem, its not too bad of a price to see a movie, but the outside and inside are dated looking, and in bad need of an overhaul.

Salem Valley 8 is alright, what is wrong is people drop the kids off unsupervised they trash the theater and talk loud so you enjoy the movie.
