During the weekend of September 12, 2015, I celebrated my 46th birthday with no intentions of riding to Vinton and spend money at a casino. However, we needed to desperately get out of the house. You see although this is/was my birthday, this is also the month I lost three members of my family; one was my Mother, who died of natural causes and the other two were killed, they were my brother and nephew who were shot to death by an angry employee. Nevertheless, we headed to Delta Downs and upon arrival I checked for promotions with my B connected card and I noticed a Happy Birthday, pick a gift. I was so surprised; just to hear someone who really didn’t know me proclaim, “Happy Birthday”! It really didn’t matter how much the gift was, just seeing Happy Birthday made me smile and relax. Later, as I sat down on a machine, used my card to play I seen again, Angela Happy Birthday, this too made me smile and at this point my attitude was, this maybe a small thing to many people who really want to win money, because after all it is a casino, but as for me, to just say Happy Birthday was the highlight of my day. I never write letters like this and I really don’t socialize with other patrons of the casino, but this time my husband and I sat next to a couple who smiled and laughed with us after I landed on a small jackpot when he got up to get change. We all laughed afterwards, which is something I have not did after the deaths of my family members, I was placed in counseling and it has now been two years and I am still seeing a counselor. However, I’d like to share with you, how such a small gesture of Happy Birthday did for me what counselors could not do in two years and I thank you for that. Warmest, Angela Lea 623335967

I had reservations since January 20, for February 12 and 13. I just got a call telling me that they have to change my reservations to a hotel in Orange TX. I told the host that this would be a big in convenience because Im bringing my mother with me, she does at home dialysis. The dialysis machine is very heavy and the process of having to move it from hotel to hotel would be very inconvenient. Because she has to be on the machine 9 hours, the distance from the bed and bathroom cannot be a far distance. She was looking forward to this trip without having to be confined for time or worry that she would not be able to stay in a particular hotel because her dialysis machine cords would not reach the bathroom. The host did not seem to care at all. He say if the rooms were blocked I wouldnt have been able to get the room in the first place. That may be true but regardless I do have reservations. No I may not be a high roller or one of your VIPs but I do patronage your company, there should be some appreciation for that. Delta Downs is not the only casino in the area. If it wasnt for the fact that my mother has been looking forward to this trip, I would have told him to just cancel it all together. Because of my mothers medical condition her trips have to be planned and the plans had been set into motion at the onset of the reservations. Now here it is not even 20 hours before we are due to arrive at the casino we have to adjust our plans. And on top of that we are 2 1/2 hours from the casino. Our trip is ruined before it even starts.

Pretty nice facility, had a nice pool if youre traveling with kids or just want a break from gambling. The restaurants arent bad here but dont expect world class necessarily. The restaurant upstairs that overlooks the horse track is pretty damn good, Id say its great. The buffet, Rosewater, and grill there are pretty good but the buffet is the trickiest one depending on whats served that day. Gambling here can be fun just dont expect table games or even video poker. They have a great variety of slots from 1 cent to 100 dollars, and about a million of those 9 line machines that arent really slots. Of course they have horse racing, and Im pretty sure they have off track betting too so you can get a bet down for another track. Cocktail service is pretty good, though their options are a little limited. Overall a decent casino as long as you arent counting on MGM Grand or something. We always have fun here.

Room were immaculately clean, reasonably furnished, adequate consumables(soap, shampoo, etc.), good TV with large number of channels, comfortable bed. Ate one dinner at the newly opened Rosewater. Food was very good, excellent service, but a little over priced. Ate another evening at the Triple Crown Buffet, having the weekend seafood dinner buffet ($30). Food was plentiful, and tasty. The crab legs were good, but the BBQ shrimp were excellent. Carved prime rib was very good. Dessert bar had wide assortment of cakes, pies, and other desserts, many of which were labeled as sugar free or no sugar added. Service was good. Casino has large assortment of slot machines. Horse race track is beautiful, but horses were not running on this trip. There is a very sophisticated OTB parlor on the first floor.

#localguides Ill start off with the positive things about Delta downs. The food selection is good and affordable. I love the casino its clean and they have a big selection of slots. The max bet on some of my favorite slots is alot cheaper then at other casinos. I recently had an issue with Delta Downs and it took them a while to respond. I even contacted the main company Boyd, in Nevada and they were even worst. The lady left a voicemail saying she would call me back as soon as her supervisor came back from vacation. Its been over a week and still no call back. Customer service needs a big overhaul. I really hope I never have to deal with their customer again. Such a headache....At this point Ive given up on resolving the issue.

The accommodations, as always, were great! However, we were very disappointed that, even though, its "high season", most amenities were closed. 1. There was a lack of restaurants. Only one, the evening before we left. Were not too keen on buffets. 2. There were no bars open. Almost missed a scheduled NBA playoff game because the cable was out. You should get cable. 3. The gym was closed, never opened. 4. The pool was closed, never opened. We were never give a reason for their closures. 5. There was no info book in the room, so, had to ask front desk about room service. We didnt realize that until second - third day. We probably "will not be back"!

loved the buffet and snow crabs...the music with the contest and other announcements were colliding over each other to much...there was a couple of machines where they were too loud even I was shocked at how loud they were it was disturbing at one point trying to play near it and it was really overbearing...the other sounds in there it doesnt need to be thay loud...the staff nice friendly and clean place...servers that walk the floor are quite slow especially on a weekend...didnt like that there was no poker (not the tables but the machine) if there was I didnt see any at all...over all good
