Before going to the manor theater for a FREE screening, I read the reviews. Comments about three dollar ice, mold, and rude employees made me laugh, and I assumed the experience would be delightful. Upon arriving, I was not greeted, and finally told to walk down a long hall. They took the tickets and directed us to the front row, as it was all that was available. It was a small theater, but clean and seemed like a small, nice old screening room. Twenty minutes late, they came in and told us it would be 5-10 more minutes, as they were experiencing projector trouble. Several times, snippets were shown upside-down. The whole time, ironic as it was, "I wanna go home" or "sloop john b" by the beach boys was playing. We were instructed after this that we could stay, or go, as it was our choice at this point. The first twenty minutes of the film were to be played upside-down and backwards, proceeded by the rest of the film, unadulterated. Deciding to leave, I could not help but laugh at how all the Google reviews were very helpful. Thank you, Google.

Ive been frequenting the Manor Theater for about seven years, and Ive always enjoyed it except during the last days of their reel-to-reel projectors, which were on their last legs. That was about three years ago, around 2011. The projectors are now digital and Ive yet to encounter a problem since they were installed. A complete renovation has spruced the place up significantly, including a comfortable in-lobby lounge with a reasonable selection of snacks and drinks, and theres even a bar alongside it that serves beer, wine, and mixed drinks at modest prices. Films range from art house to blockbusters, and one room has a 3D projector. A welcome relief from mall multiplexes is that the Manor does not show commercials for restaurants, other entertainment venues, or for television shows. Also, admission prices are lower than those of multiplexes. The fact its independently owned and operated is a major selling point for me.

We went here for the first time yesterday to see Cafe Society for our 7th anniversary and had a great time. The staff are friendly and efficient, the concessions were great and reasonably priced, and we had a wonderful experience. My wife also said the bartender made her a great drink so if that is your thing give it a try. Two of the staff members also complimented my newly acquired Dungeons & Dragons t-shirt, earning them a +5 bonus in my esteem.

Just got back from the revamped Manor Theater. This place is amazing. They tore up the lobby floor to expose the beautiful black and white marble floor that was hidden underneath. They revamped the lobby adding a sitting area and a bar. Like a full service bar. And best of all new comfy leather seats and digital projection. This is one of Pittsburghs oldest theaters and right now it may be its best.

My favorite theater in the Burgh! They get the movies I want to see. They are locally owned, and have a long history in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood. The staff is friendly, and many of them have worked there for years. And finally, theres a bar, where I can get a cocktail or beer to sip on while watching the movie. Overall thats a fantastic package for a movie-buff!

Great little theatre. At most there are 4 screens and each screening room as less seats than normal. This made the movie watching experience seem more communal than I have typically experienced. Seats are very comfortable. There is a normal concession stand and a bar serving beer, wine, and mixed drinks. Would recommend so long as you can find a movie you want to see

They beautifully restored this building, it is a wonderful place. They are reasonable, have leather reclining seats and a full bar. The place is a real gem and it turns movie going from a expensive chore in a boring sanitized big box theater factory to a charming good time in a unique sanctuary. Ive never felt so relaxed going to the movies as I have in the Manor.

I love this small local movie theater in the heart of Squirrel Hill near many restaurants and bars. The theater screens a wide variety of films from documentaries to blockbusters, at a pleasant lower volume than many larger theaters. They serve food and alcoholic beverages! Seats are comfortable, though dont lean back, and prices are unbeatable!

Usually playing the more cerebral and artsy movies. The bar has some good cocktails but try to get there early if you want drinks because it backs up quick (usually only one bartender on staff). Note that this theater has a lot of history associated to it in the area so it has some cultural significance as well.

This is a great neighborhood theater, mostly featuring independent films. It was recently renovated, and has an interesting selection of food and beverages, including a bar with a liquor license. Watch out—there are no free refills unless you get a certain drink-popcorn combo.

I love this theater. Well-selected movies, friendly staff, great projectors, and best of all, no advertisement reel to punish you for arriving early! I wish there was slightly more sound isolation between the rooms. But thats minor compared to all the plusses.

Great, home town feel theater! Always has at least one of the topped billed flicks and sometimes foreign films. Like the option of getting drinks that you can take into the theater. We are lucky to have this gem that is within walking distance of our home!

Excellent film choices--the only theater in the city that has consistently good independent movie options. Facilities and staff are also great. Great location surrounded by restaurants and cafes. Matinee prices are extremely competitive.

Wonderful neighborhood movie theater that has a good combination of current big films along with art films or independent films not usually in the multiplexes. Also has a bar/cafe in the lobby, so meeting before a film is pleasurable.

Its nice to have a small local theater that shows current pictures. The theater is clean and the seats are comfy. But it is tiny. Small screens and aisle goes down the middle of the theater. Not terrible, but worth considering.

I loved the lobby of this theater. It felt like it was a movie theater that catered to adults. The seats are large and comfortable. I will be going back there again even though I will pass several other theaters to get there.

Rarely go to any other theater. Historic. Wonderful. If you want to laugh with people, have classy yet relaxing environment, and clap at the end of the show -- go to the Manor Theater. Best theater in Pittsburgh! LOVE

This is a small theatre, but the chairs are very comfortable and the screen and sound system work well. Because it is small, movies dont tend to stay as long and showtimes are a bit more limited then a larger place.

Favorite theater experience. Small and cozy, easy to get in and out, but still has great seats, picture, and sound. Old school experience with all modern technology. Plays theres great food and adult beverages.

I am a fan of this theater. However, during my last two visits Ive noticed the staff is loud in the lobby area, talking and playing music. I actually went out there during Lion to ask them to keep it down.
