Negative Experiences: There are reports of inconsistent ID checks and poor service, especially during busy times. Some customers felt that the staff, often teenagers, lacked professionalism.
Convenience: The cinema is generally accessible, but some customers have reported issues with the timing of services, such as the concession stand closing shortly after the last movie starts.
Staffing: There are mentions of slow service at the concessions, possibly due to understaffing.
Ticket Costs: Customers have noted a significant increase in ticket prices over the years, making it less appealing for frequent visits.
Concession Costs: The prices for food and beverages are considered high, with some customers describing it as "highway robbery."
Concessions: The cinema offers a range of snacks and beverages, although the quality of some generic candy brands has been questioned.
Screening Rooms: The cinema is in need of renovations, as some rooms are reported to be uncomfortably warm during the summer.
Management: Customers suggest that any issues during the visit can often be resolved by speaking to the management.
Planning: It is advised to allow extra time for purchasing snacks due to slow service at the concessions.
Temperature Control: There have been complaints about the temperature inside the screening rooms being too warm, even during the summer.
ID Checks: The cinema has a policy of checking IDs for age-restricted movies, but the practice has been inconsistent, leading to customer dissatisfaction.
Arrive Early: Given the slow service at the concessions, arriving early is advisable.
Check for Discounts: Student discounts are available but are restricted to certain days of the week.

5 Star Service every time! I go to this theater often and have noticed many rude customers. I work in hospitality and know this town has a reputation for entitlement. Any hospitality worker in this town will tell you theyve never met people like youll meet here. Yes like other reviews say, teenagers do work at this theater, probably their first job and my family and I have seen adults (probably the ones posting negative reviews on here) go berserk on the "teenage" staff at this theater. Ive had to speak up for a cashier once. Its not okay for you to slander, demand, and rage at an underage kid because you waited in line to pay $6 for a bottle of water. BRING YOUR OWN OR USE THE WATER FOUNTAIN. You have to remember these days corporations do not allow enough staffing to accommodate business. Except for Chick-fil-a.. They seem to always have a ton of staff and thats why their service is super fast. So how about dont take your frustration out on KIDS but call corporate and take it out on them. And in case you know nothing about movies, ticket sales go to the studios, and the theater and staff are paid for by concession sales. If youre planning a visit to this theater, it may not be the staff whos the problem. It may be some entitled people that have given this town its reputation. There have been a few instances where I interacted with management and from what Ive experienced they go above and beyond to make accommodations. A+ to the General Manager Trey he will do anything to make your experience great. My family dropped a tray of drinks and popcorn and a manager named Mitch HAPPILY replaced everything, cleaned up the mess and insisted we not be late to our film. AND delivered everything to us in the theater. He was cool as a cucumber about it! Very polite and professional guy, excellent customer service recovery. He always asks what good movies Ive seen, and my family always feels very welcome when we visit this theater. Ask for Mitch if any issues arise upon your visit! I have yet to interact with any other management.

I ordered a Pop-corn and a corn-dog combo at the counter, took the drink, paid, and then left my girlfriend to be given the other items and bring them with her into the movie (it was an action movie (WWZ) and she wasnt too worried about being late). After I left the counter the manager appeared and told her that they were out of corndogs and he would refund her money for it; but once he did he told her that he was going to charge her again for the drink I alrady taken into the theater. Well it just so happened that the clerk gave me the wrong drink (too large) and the manager made her pay for it which ended up being more expenseive than the combo in the first place! He essentially tricked her out of our corndogs and charged her more for it. Highly disappointed with the level of consideration given to customers. I mean we all know movie theater concessions are NOT cheap but this was another story all together.

The prices used to be great at the Palmetto Grande, but recently the cost of a movie ticket has been raised way too high for Charleston. At $10 for an adult and $9 for a student, theres definitely been less of a reason to go see a movie here. Whats more is that you can only use a student discount Sunday-Thursday. These prices were definitely not this way three years ago when I was in high school and you were definitely allowed to get a student discount any day of the week. I wont even mention the price of popcorn or drinks inside; its nothing short of highway robbery. Its disappointing to witness the prices raised so high, but its becoming the standard with such little competition in Mt. Pleasant. Im sure lowering the cost by a few dollars would attract a lot more customers. Needless to say, Ill be using my $10 somewhere else -- most likely to BUY a movie if Im going to spend that kind of money.

I love going to this movie theater usually, but I literally got there 20 minutes after the movie starred and I was told I couldnt go to the movie since or closed at 11;00. The movie started at 10:40. I dont care because there are 15 minutes of previews!!!!!!!! And then when I was "allowed" to purchase tickets at the machine inside, I then tried to get a drink and popcorn, but wast old they close down 15 minutes after the last movie starts. Considering if I was there on time and purchased a large popcorn with free refills, they are basically saying I would have to eat the whole thing in 10 minutes to get my free refill in 15 minutes??!!! We only got there 20 minutes late!!!! This place is run by a bunch of teenagers who dont care about customer service.

Weve been to countless movies here. This was a nice theater when I moved to Charleston 8 years ago but it needs renovation/updates. It is showing its age. Some of the candy they serve is generic and not good. Try their brand of "Twizzlers" and gummy bears and youll see what I mean. During the summer some of the theaters towards the end of the building are uncomfortably warm for watching movies. Mount Pleasant is a growing town with affluent residents. Lots of other towns like this across the U.S. have much better theaters with more comfortable seating, faster service and better concessions. This is the only act in town (I consider Cinebarre to be a different category) so there isnt much pressure for them to change.

Missed 20 minutes of my movie because after they checked my ID and gave me a bracelet showing I was over 21, they required me to go back into the theater to get my ID checked a second time. Shamel, who checked my ID the first time and served me a beer needed to see it again? I have been here before and never been required to show my ID twice. If I had been required to, I would have been prepared. You should really have consistency in your practices, so patrons are not inconvenienced. If You will require an ID with every purchase, dont waste our time or your money on the stupid yellow bracelets. They serve no purpose.

Disgusting movie theater with way over price tickets and food. Also the people who work here are terrible, I was told that they couldnt sell me a ticket to a movie because I was under 17. I am 21 years old, not once did he ask to see my ID (which Ill happily provide when asked) and he rather quite rudely told me he wouldnt sell me a ticket. I provided two forms of ID only then did he sell me a ticket, not once did he apologize. Horrible service. Go to cinebarre if you want to actually get treated nicely.

POSITIVE: workers are friendly. Thats where the good news ends. NEGATIVES: very slow concessions and burning hot theater. Allow at least 20 extra minutes to get snacks or just forget them altogether. Theater was a sauna! After basting for an hour, I left the movie, found the manager, and asked him to lower the temperature. He said he would, but he never did it. I was soaking in sweat by the end of the film. It was cooler outside (Charleston, SC in July!) than in the theater. This could be a great theater.
