While I appreciate that the theatre has a more "alternative" vibe and serves wine/beer and other concessions beyond the standard movie theatre fare, I cannot get past the outdated seating in the actual theatre. Because there is not much of a slope in the theatre, it is very hard to get a completely unobstructed view of the screen over the heads of the people sitting in front of you. This is the kind of place I would go to see some sort of Sundance documentary about social justice reforms, but not really the place I would go to see the newest blockbuster release from the major studios.

The Terrace is a vital part of the citys artistic scene. As it is one of the only small independent theaters in the area it screens movies that arent in wide release. If you hear about a film that is picking up a lot of good reviews and isnt in a big theater, theres a good chance The Terrace will have it. The concessions are pricey, but what theatre has cheap stuff, but they offer a wide selection of beer and wine. If youre in the mood for a film and dont want to go to a big theater, check out The Terrace.

Well I have not experienced this location yet, but I give five stars to the ones that speak so highly of it. My partner and I are on the way to see "The Theory of everything" tonight. And sure to fell at home at this location that is not my location of living. Ok, so we came back home from the theater and all I can say is that we have found our new theater. I have NO issue with driving the 20 min from Park Circle to this gem of a place. BRAVO on such a great establishment!

Nice old school theater, subdivided quite imaginatively-aggressively into 5 separate viewing arenas. The Terrace has a checkered history, has often been on life support, but the past few years (5/2016) in good & competent hands. Additional to regular showings, runs worthwhile festivals, etc. - and influence on local film culture. Profits a bit more than Id like from its unique niche in Charleston, but has earned a fair claim on doing so.

I love the Terrace! I have been attending movies there for 10+ years. I do have to say I would love to see them consolidate and rethink their beer selection. If Regal Cinemas can serve craft and primarily local beers on draft so can the Terrace. Its time to catch up and throw the Mikes Hard Lemonade and four different versions of Bud Light away. Locally brewed draft beer is the new standard.

Very fortunate that this theatre is in Charleston. Many cities that are much larger do not have an independent movie theatre as great as this one. They play the mainstream, obscure and films that fall in between. Comfortable seats, limited movie trailers before the start of the movie, great concessions (including beer and wine), this is THE place to see a movie in Charleston.

I wanted to rate like one star so people would stay away and I could have the place all to myself. Loved it: great atmosphere, the chocolate gelato was on point and there was an impressively large selection of beer and wine. You dont have to see a movie, you can chill in the lounge and play dominos or some other game out on several tables with comfortable chairs.

Comfortable theaters, decent beer selection. You can get 6 bottles for $25. If youre waiting on the far side of the main area you might not hear them say when your theater is ready, though, and the two guys working were rude when we found out we missed the beginning of our movie. They should get a speaker system if they dont start movies at their listed times.

The Terrace Theater has a retro feel with posters of old movies on the walls. The movie choices are generally very good. The concessions (especially the ice cream!) are better than those offered at a large multiplex theater. However, the movie tickets are a bit pricey considering the fact that the theater does not offer a senior discount.

The prices are high. The seats arent comfortable. The manager is awful. He actually announced to all the moms ( during a kids movie in the summer) that if they had food or drinks from outside then now is the time to take back to the car. But they do not offer a kids popcorn and drink pack like other theaters that show kids movies.

This place has a very laidback vibe. They offer a wide selection of bottled beer and a few wines. The theater playing the movie I saw wasnt very big, but the screen was huge. The seats were ok, featuring a widened spot to place snacks, but as a consequence didnt allow the armrest between seats to be raised all the way.

From the moment we walked in, you could tell whoever owns this theater cares so much about it. It is very well kept, nice, comfortable. Better seats (leather, leaning, mini table and drink space for each) than I have ever sat in at the movies. Wonderfully done, with retro purpose, rather than cover.

The theater looks great. A variety of options at the concession stand to choose from, ranging from your typical popcorn and candy box to organic foods. They serve beer and wine too! The seats and floor here are more well-kept compared to other theaters in the area.

My favorite Lowcountry theater. Charming and homey... without all the hassles you find at the big cinemas (inconsiderate patrons, stupid movies...). Always a great selection of films that appeal to a more educated clientele. Worth the drive from Summerville!

Clean, well-maintained, great little theater, best popcorn Ive had in a long time. Beer, wine, interesting selection of candy and sodas, and gelato. You cant go wrong here. Also, board games in the bar area to enjoy while you wait for your movie to start.

The concessions are ridiculously overpriced and the staff treat you like garbage if youre in your twenties (a lot of old people frequent there). If they didnt play movies that dont get nation-wide release, there would be no reason to go there.

Perfect place to catch a movie! They serve beer, wine & gourmet sweets....always a good experience at The Terrace! They DO have stadium seating, as opposed to a previous review. And prices are less than that of other theaters in the area.

Nostalgic decor, cozy places to sit pre-flick, variety of food and beverage both traditional and non. Small staff, went during a matinee and we had the place to ourselves. Perfect component for a dinner and a movie (tapas next door) date.

I love this little theater! Retro feel, but updated with big leather seats. Concessions include a large selection of beers/wine. Very clean and well kept, with a good selection of big budget films as well as independent ones.

This is the avant-garde Theatre of Charleston. They always get the new releases first and hold on to the less popular movies until we all have had an opportunity to see them. They also serve beer and wine which is fabulous!

Great atmosphere with amazing and varied showings. Even if there doesnt seem to be any good movies out they will have some obscure title that turns out to be great. We love going here and have never been disappointed.

Love this little theatre, it strikes me as classy with a silver screen era feel. They sell beer, candy, popcorn, and bottled soda. Seats are spacious and all leather and theatres are small without being cramped.
