Fun movie venue with many special events and films you might not be able to see anywhere else in the area. They do a Rocky Horror Picture showing - with your typical audience participation - usually twice a month on Saturday nights. The Professor and I had a ton of fun recently when they hosted two nights of "The Mads" - a traveling duo who perform Mystery Science Theater 3000-style running commentary during really awful movies. The theater is community-supported and has been undergoing a gradual rehab for several years and they are still working on it. No stadium seating but the balcony seating is usually open. Go early if you think the show will be well-attended, to make sure you can find parking nearby (they do not have any dedicated parking for the theater).

Great place to go and watch a movie. It has a sense of nostalgia and adventure to it. I went to see It Follows, The Void, and Halloween III: Season of the Witch there. I will always have memories of watching those films at The Hollywood Theater in Dormont. The staff is incredibly personable. It feels like you walked into a quaint little movie house of days past. They play a lot of diverse films. Independent films, classic old films, dramas, documentaries, and so on. If you want to visit an old fashioned personable theater please go to The Hollywood Theater in Dormont. You wont regret it.

I have been to this theater several times for various movies and events, and I have to say that I am quite impressed. The theater is well run, the staff is friendly, the facilities are clean. The prices are incredible too! $7 for a regular movie, and events seems to range from $10+. You cant beat that! I think one of the more interesting aspects of the theater is that they still have a balcony open for patrons. And on that balcony? Couches. Who doesnt love watching a movie cuddled up with someone or with their feet up on the couch? Communists, thats who.

Wonderful gem in Dormont. A single screen non-profit theatre with balcony, friendly staff, great priced concessions. It’s nice that this theater exists so that there are alternatives to the megaplexes. They shows all kind of movies, having something for everyone. Movies like an Orson Welles classic; or a new Anime movie; or a locally produced film; or a shadow cast screening of Rocky Horror Picture Show; or a foreign film or a silent movie with live organ accompaniment and lately they are showing first run movies.

Amazing little theater. There are a ton of events like Breakfast and a movie, Twin Peaks parties, Rocky Horror Picture Show. Staff is super friendly and the theater is well taken care of. Plus parking is pretty easy to come by. The Hollywood is one of those places you have to visit at least once, and face it once you go once you will want to keep going back.

Came for a simple Breakfast and a Movie to see White Christmas. What a lovely experience! $15 for a breakfast and great screening of a classic was so worth it. Everyone is all smiles and hospitable with anything you could ask for. The theater is beautiful and invokes a feeling of old cinema when going to a movie was an Event. Can;t wait to go back!

Decent selection of food and drink at the concession stand, the staff are nice and sometimes this place gives special shows such as the program on the brain which was sponsored by WQED and UPMC. You can also occasionally see an Anime film on the big screen here.

Quaint old theater. Shows new and old movies. Great seeing some of the old movies brought back to the big screen. Not just movies but EVENTS! Ladies night with vendors and snacks. People working at the theater care about the theater and the patrons.

Its a great theater. I really enjoy the small size and one screen. Being in the middle of the Dormont business district is nice because you can go out to dinner and then watch a movie there. Great way to do a date night.

The Hollywood Theatre is a local, non-profit, single screen theatre. It is awesome! They play indie flicks & more, and it is also BYOB (with a dollar charge per adult beverage brought in). Excellent place.

Facilities are great for an older theater, and the staff was cool with showing a late night movie for 3 people. Concessions are decently priced, and their selection of movies is really diverse.
