I tried to leave a complaint via the contact page at the time, and again on their FB page, and both disappeared. Someone recently suggested writing here, so Im giving it a go. We had been to Elm Road several times over the years and it wasnt that the screens or food was that bad, it is what Ive learned is the owner. If youve been there, he is the golf car driver. Im sure people have tried to scheme or cheat him in the past, but what he did to our family, Ill never forget. Ill also never grace that property again. It was Summer 2011 but Ive heard he is the same, so I decided to post, again because someone recently suggested it. We would always say when we bought tickets that we had our own food and wanted to pay extra, and this time we asked about switching screens because the second movie wasnt one our family wanted to see. The kid charged us a couple dollars and told us if asked, to show a different color ticket. We didnt even make it to the second screen before the golf cart blocked us and he started yelling about how we were cheating studios by switching screens. We tried to show the ticket and explain and he wouldnt let us talk. He got called away and told us to stay, and we did. Trust me when I saw were not a trouble-making family. When he came back he continued but at least let us show the ticket. He asked how much extra we paid. When we said, he said we still owed money, we were undercharged. We get out the cash and hes still yelling about how we arent supposed to switch screens. He moves back to where my kids are seated and asks their ages. They tell him and he said they were lying. They were 7 and 12. I will never forget that. He then accused us of harboring people in the trunk. They were Adirondack chairs. Once he took our three dollars we thought we were done. He went on the loudspeaker not only to remind people about the concession stand, but went on to tell our story, that apparently not everyone knows not to switch screens because it robs studios of money. We didnt fight him, we werent disrespectful, the only thing we did was try to get a word in edgewise, show him the ticket, and pay. And this was our treatment. He still wasnt done. Once we finally parked at the second screen and he made his announcement, he drove to us again. He was at the back of the car and he shouted out, "Just writing down your license plate in case I have trouble with you later." I was so upset I couldnt even speak. I cried through the entire movie I was so upset. When the second movie was near over, long after midnight, he drove up one last time. He asked where my husband was and I pointed to the front of our car, outside, where he sat in the chair. By then he talked to the kid who registered us and it was obvious there was miscommunication, and we had told the truth all along. He never apologized, but at least in a nicer tone said we cant switch screens. Lesson learned. Since then Ive been to Skyway. They are so friendly. They interact on a regular basis through social media and try to please the customer. The prices are reasonable. To this day our youngest asks if anyone will come on a golf cart and yell at her. Not at Skyway--where Ive told everyone I know to visit for a pleasant, family-friendly drive-in experience.

I would like to share my experience with the Elm road drive in the other day... We have visited this location several times but havent been in awhile, decided to take the kids. We were in line with a bunch of food, we approched the checkout line and I was telling the lady what we had. The lady from the other checkout line comes over and tells the lady checking us out that we had a large ice cream. I turn around and said yes we told her we had a LARGE ICECREAM, she proceeds to scream at me, telling me not to shake my head at her and she owns the place and if I didnt like it I could leave and that she was going to go out and tell the policeman outside that we were stealing and didnt I see the signs and that she has the right to check our stuff, now meanwhile Ella is bawling her eyes out thinks we are getting arrested. I was so dumbfounded by whats going on at this point and more worried about my daughter. I wanted to leave but they wanted to see movie. I proceed to get our drinks and she comes back and starts yelling at me there as well. I politely and sternly tell her she has upset my daughter who has anxiety and would like for her to lay off, she says well how was I suppose to know that. Well look at her crying her eyes out, you apparently have upset her over what you think is us telling them we had an ice cream that was smaller than it was, $1 difference to be exact. which was not the case. Poor girl had to use the bathroom and wouldnt go because she was afraid to run into her again. So if they have OWNERS who act in this way and treat their patrons in this manner and care nothing about what they did to my child I WIL NOT BE GOING BACK and Will be sure to share this story with social media and let them know what type of caring owners they are Brian Demsey, feel free to share everyone.......

NEVER AGAIN!!! Me and 5 daughters went an hour and a half early so we could get a good spot. When we pulled in a man on a golf cart stopped us and directed us to a place to park. We were fine with it and proceeded to unpack all our chairs. Over the next hour the place started filling up, then here comes the man on the golf cart again. He told me we couldnt park there that it was for cars only, I said "youre the one who told us to park here!" He didnt apologize, just said we had to move to the grass infront of the screen. We packed everything up and went to the front were there was no room other than under a huge tree that blocked half of the screen. So I drove back through all of the rows looking for a spot to park and if there wasnt a car, there was a bunch of chairs taking up the spot. The only lane that had barely any cars was the lane I was first parked in! I think there was 4 cars and the movie had already started by now. We ended up in the grass on the left side of the main road in, next to a house that had dogs that barked the whole time and the tree that blocked our view. It turned out to be a very expensive, miserable and crappy night! NEVER AGAIN!!

I hadnt been to a drive-in theater since high school so I was excited to try it again. I cant recall having this much fun at a theater in a long time. The theater was offering triple features on two of the three screens and all three movies we watched were enjoyable. I firmly believe the drive-in has the power to make any movie better. On my second visit there was an issue with the sound quality. The radio broadcast was wavy as if it was being piped through a large fan. It was really bad at first but got better after I called the drive-in to complain. But it never did get completely fixed. The concession booth has a large menu including pizza dinner deals. Between my two experiences I have to rate this a four. Either way, Drive-ins are not about the quality, but about the experience.
