Update: On 5/3/09 I took my son to see yet another movie at Showcase to give them another chance. We were getting all set to see Wolverine when we (and everyone else) noticed that the picture frame was going through the middle of the screen (not sure if thats descriptive enough but lets just say the picture was cut in half). Someone else complained and that was fixed pretty quickly. Then, as the previews continued I noticed how blurry the picture was.. AGAIN. I knew it wouldnt improve once the movie started so I went to report the problem. They "got right on it" so I went back into the theater and NOTHING changed. For close ups of faces the picture, while dark, was ok enough to see, but for further away shots (and there are a lot of them in Wolverine) you couldnt even make out which characters were which. This was theater #9. With the price of going to the movie youd think that Showcase would be trying really hard to have a quality movie experience and that theyd put a lot of focus on good customer service. Maybe Ill give them another chance in 6 months or so. Until then Ill just wait for movies to come out on Blue Ray to enjoy on my 50" plasma. And if I do go to the movies Ill take the drive out to Blackstone instead of giving my money to Showcase in Worcester. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I took my son to see "Star Wars: Clone Wars" a couple of days ago at the Showcase Cinemas (North) in Worcester. The projection was very blurry so I walked to customer service to tell them about it. They immediately called someone on the walkie-talkie to fix it. By the time I got back into the theater they were working on it. The big blur spot moved from the middle/bottom to the top and thats where they left it. So out I go again (very long walk when youre trying to enjoy a movie) to customer service and find someone else. They go in and work on it again and it didnt improve. So I decided that we arent going to sit through 1 1/2 hours of a blurry movie when I paid $29 ($15 for the tickets and $14 for refreshments). So I went back to customer service and after waiting for a couple of moments and no one showing up to help us I went to the box office. I told the lady working there what had happened and she said shed give my money back (for the movie only of course) or movie passes to use again. I decided on the refund. I mentioned that there was still another family sitting in there and they shouldnt have to pay either but she didnt respond. Isnt it a bad time for movie theaters when they should be working as hard as they can to keep people coming back? Not only is the economy in shambles, keeping moving-going a low priority, but in todays high-tech home theater and nearly instant DVD/BlueRay release of movies, shouldnt you care just a bit more about getting my future business? Unless I really change my mind I wont be going back to that theater. The people working there didnt seem to care about the movie being blurry.. they didnt double-check to see if theyd even fixed it after messing with it for about one minute. And when we left, no one apologized for my inconvenience nor offered me ANY incentive to come back (i.e., maybe a couple of movie passes since I spent $14 on 2 drinks and some popcorn that we wouldnt have spent had we not gone to their theater for 15 or 20 minutes).

My car got broken into at North Showcase Cinemas Tuesday December 29, 2015. Purse stolen and all my stuff rummaged threw. Valuables missing, prescription medication, and sentimental things from my dead father and grandparents.. This happened to multiple other cars in the lot this night. Attending officer humorously informed me this has been a nightly occurrence and that they actually got rid of their security patrol beginning of this season......? They have plenty of cameras inside the business, to protect themselves. Yet none outside to protect the patrons... That theater should be shut down if this is happening nightly and nothing being done. Ive called corporate and all they had to say was Worcester Showcase North has one of the lowest crime rates out of all their theaters...? Well guess what, thats because your managers arent reporting any of the crimes. He lied to myself and also the other people who had cars broken into, said all we could do was call police. Wasnt until my boyfriend and I both went in multiple times and persisted that he finally admitted they could file an incident report for us..... It only has a low crime rate because your statistics are completely inaccurate if you have a dishonest manager who doesnt even offer to file reports immediately and denies any help in the first place.. All my prescriptions and valuables stolen. I am mainly concerned about my medicine which I get withdrawals from and can experience seizures. Your highly placed small print "park at your own risk" signs are meaningless compared to legal doctrine, when the police openly admits this has now become a nightly occurrence. The sign can say whatever it wants, but torts revolve around a willful duty of care.

Full disclosure: I worked here in the 90s for several years. I dont think that taints my opinion, but just to be transparent.... Showcase North is the epitome of "We dont really care.". I remember seeing Fellowship of the Ring when it first opened in this theater and remarking to myself "Wow, the audio system in this theater is FUBAR!" Now, a full decade later, the audio system is still garbage. It slows down or speeds up bt just a fraction of a second on occasion and the sound mixing is off. Visually, its a crapshoot. If the picture goes out of focus or theres any issue with it, dont expect the issue to be repaired immediately. It takes an act of congress to get their projectionist out of his coma to check on it, and in the meantime youll miss half the movie and end up demanding a refund. I wont go on about prices, as this is a problem with ALL first-run theaters. The fact is: Renting the films with public display permissions pretty much eats up ALL of the box office cash brought in with ticket sales. Their entire business model is predicated on marking up the snacks and drinks in a nearly comical manner. Want 25 cents worth of popcorn? Be prepared to spend $7. (and I know.. I personally popped 85% of all popcorn consumed in that theater through the entire run of Titanic!) Sadly, the only other options are a second-run theater out by Walmart (the WB), or heading out the Solomon Pond Mall. Showcase North doesnt have much in the way of competition, so they simply dont care. If you live in Worcester and have limited transportation, you either go to Showcase North or wait for it to come out on DVD/Netflix.

I paid $32 for two reserved seating tickets because of the promotion and passed experience at other locations with reserved seating we figured it was all the same. We went inside and there are only like 6 or 7 chairs all the way at the back with a reserved ribbon on them only the back reclines the legs do not what is the point of that first disappointment than with hit the service light and waited 20 minutes and nothing happened 2nd disappointment so I decided to get up and see if I could speak to someone as well as get me and my best friend wine I stand in line and gentleman who took my order stated he can only sell me one glass and my best friend would have to come out and but her own ARE YOU KIDDING ME 3rd disappointment than he proceeds to let me know that the service lights are not connected to anything only reason they turn on is because the chairs need to be connected the chairs were donated to them and they are really just there to charge people more for them with no extra amenities 4th disappointment so I go back pretty upset but not wanting to ruin my night I let it go when I go back there where teenagers sitting on the reserved seats that they didnt pay for and were loud and disrespectful and no one ever checked to see or anything just a whole LOT of disappointment its sad to see how this movie theater is just going down hill I go to the movies ALLOT and I will not be going back there again.
