I played the course for the first time on August 9, 2017. Im an avid golfer, about a six-eight handicapper, play a lot of courses around the nation, am a full time RVer. The gentleman at the pro shop was very nice, professional. The courses greens had been recently sanded, but thats a necessity that golfers understand, so theres no criticism there. The course seemed to me, to be typical of many modern golf course designs. That is to say, its a very difficult course for the average or even better than average golfer, let alone a high handicapper. Its tight for the most part, with forest or other trouble, like peoples homes, right off the fairways (number one hole). The back side opened up some on a few of the middle holes. The greens, in my opinion, many of them were simply ridiculous, with the extreme contours, number two stands out, some of the three pars also. Little thought, in my opinion, was given to the outcome of its design, that is to say one feels like they are playing miniature golf on some of the greens. Its like the mentality is design a golf course that would challenge a scratch or pro golfer, never considering that 98 or 99 percent of the people who will ever play your course, are not scratch or pro golfers. The biggest drawback is the rounds are slow because golfers spend so much time looking for balls in the trees, or crevices, peoples backyards, or other difficult spots. The driving area on number 10 is another example of a ridiculous design. Only an extremely straight drive ends up in the fairway, and theres little room on the second shot also. The condition of the course was better than average, although there were a few sand traps or ponds (?) that were desolate, without sand or water, that gave a terrible look to the course, which would be interesting to find out why. If one drives near the greens, the golf cart shuts down and one has to go in reverse to get out of the situation. Never seen that before, and the man in the pro shop probably should have warned about this. Other negatives about the design. Homes close to the fairways, leading to OB stakes, adding to the courses difficulty. Also, long rides between some of the holes, the course probably cannot be walked, another negative in modern golf course design. Overall, and again this is my opinion, I would not be inclined to return and play this course, due mostly, to its poor design.

I would rate the course itself a 4+, but thanks to Mark, the pro shop employee, I cant rate it any higher than a 2. To say that he was extremely rude would be an understatement (and I would use more colorful language to describe how he treated us, but I have since calmed down). When I explained how he treated us to other staff members, more than one made the excuse of "thats his personality" and were not surprised that we had been treated poorly. I was so upset that my wife and I nearly left, but decided not to let one person steal our joy. The course itself was in great shape and we enjoyed our round, but even after we left, I can forgive the poor customer service. We will likely not go back.

First class golf at bargain prices! Great greens, fairways are perfect. Interesting layout with lots of features - water, traps, hills and valleys - fun! Well marked for distances too. Brand new (and fast) carts, smooth cart paths and NO HOUSES. Not because they didn want them. Its The economy stupid Play it now before they all are built out. Missing one star because there is no club house. Well there is a small pro shop. Nice deck overlooking a pond is a great place to have your 19th hole drink. No food or booze though. Stop off at the Shade Tree on 281 for lunch or a drink on the way home. Fun funky place.

What a beautiful golf course. It had rained so had to play cart path only but so glad we had the opportunity to play. The course is fair as you can match your skill level with the appropriate tee box. Did not have a bad lie in the fairways and greens were great for this early in the season. A great balance of scoring challenges and opportunities. Good staff, facilities, and carts. I cant wait to go back.

Greens are lunar landscapes. The guys working around the greens and mowing will not let you play through. The signs are a joke. It is too easy to get lost trying to find the tee box. Do not try and walk this nightmare. The pro shop says tee off on 10 and the greens super comes and says the back is closed. What a terrible waste of time and money.

A nice layout and course was in great shape, played the front 9 in on a Saturday evening, no one around. The course is off the beaten path, looks like a golf course community that didnt get finished due to economy? I walked the course and except for getting to first tee, an enjoyable walk. Greens were smooth and fast, how I like them!

I have played this course 2 times and it is definately one of the top courses around. Yes it is in Blanco which is a pretty good drive from Austin or SA but well worth it. Fairways are GREAT...greens are FAST and water on a bunch of holes (uncommon for courses in south TX). Very reasonable rates and well worth the time!!!

A hidden gem of a golf course in Texas. It is worth the drive from anywhere in Texas to play Vaaler Creek. Great greens, usually fast. Your round ends with a gut-check on the last two holes - be playing your best when you get to #17 and #18, both are great tests of your golf game. I wish I could get there more often.

This course is one of the best kept courses year round that I have seen. The staff is nice, the new gps golf carts are awesome. I know all this because I live in the community and see how hard everyone works. Prices are reasonable as well.

Beautiful layout and wonderful 3 tiered greens. This course is a little short but has teeth because it has so much slope. In my opinion one of the best layouts in town. A Must Play, but do not try to walk this course!

This is a great course, that always has wonderful customer service. The owners are doing alot of work to make this a top notch destination for families. All we need is some rain to make the water features active.

Best golf course in the region. Difficult but fair. Not to long. Very few flat puts here. Great shape and greens roll true. Just a little pricy for us seniors.

Hill Country Gem! No dead spots on fairways, keep it in play and be rewarded with 1" thick fairway grass, Greens were like outdoor carpet...
