This place is awesome and I encourage everyone to support it. I actually prefer going here than to the big chain theaters in town, if I can, to see a movie I want to see. They often show movies that arent shown at other theaters in town, sometimes they have free screenings, and they are often involved in events that support the local community (because theyre a co-op and actually an active part of the C-U community). If youre still unsure if you want to go, another perk is that they serve alcohol here for a reasonable price (unlike the large theaters where drinks are overpriced), so you can get a beer with your popcorn, if youre into that, and not have to pay $10 for it. Plus, sometimes they even have drink and other concession specials to help fundraise for local organizations.

This is one of my favorite places in Champaign. They play indie, vintage, and sometimes wide release films. Its a great place to see films you might otherwise miss like Polish horror movies about mermaids. They have pretty good drinks, usually they offer a themed drink. The theater is a small one screen theater. Definitely a gem that should not be missed if youre in Champaign.

Hey this place is great! Go get a burger a Farrens and check out a theater with a lovely staff. I like to enjoy a Guinness with my movie. Not as showy as the Virginia but it doesnt have to be because they have a much more regular mix of classic and hard to find new releases. You can even become a shareholder and own a portion of the joint!

Comfy seats, a quality sound system, and better concessions than youll find at any of your standard movie theaters. The Art Theater (formerly Boardmans Art Theater) is a great place to go for a little variety and class in your moviegoing experience. Check out their cheap Late Night Movies on Friday and Saturday for a little extra spice.

A wonderful independent theater with good selections. Plays first-run indie films, but also has late shows of classics and modern gems. The main appeal of the Art is its welcoming nature: the staff are great, drinks are good, and the general experience is cozy.

Tickets and concessions are reasonably priced. The screen is larger than expected. The sound system is also impressive for a local theater. Id recommend seeing any movie at this theater over the larger chain theaters whenever possible.

I dont think there are many other places who will host free Secret Screenings. I also dont think there are many places showing not often seen Star Trek wardrobe and makeup check reels. Its a sweet spot to kick it for the indies.

Love this place! You can catch a movie, drink a beer and chat with the awesome staff. They know and love movies and it shows. Almost all the movies here are quality and the theater is welcoming and has a great atmosphere.

One of my favorite places in town. My wife and I love going to the 10pm weekend shows, and catching all of the films that dont make it to the big theaters. This really is a place for movie lovers.

This theater is a co-op. We love the eclectic and high-art movies they show there. Add them on Facebook, check out their schedule and go as much as your heart desires. It is a great place!

Support this local business. It is a great little theater. They show indy films, old films, and sometimes even anime. They cost is low, and for those of legal age, they serve alcohol.

A historic place that has been updated in terms of projector quality and audio, while still retaining the old feel. Great place to catch classic and indie films.
