The staff are very young and could be better trained in being people friendly and more professional. They also need to be more aware of people standing in the Premiere ticket sales line instead of ignoring them. There needs to be more attention on keeping both the lobby floors and counters clean along with theater and bathroom cleanliness. Ticket sales prices are average compared to other theaters. However, the concession food prices are outrageously priced. (Why pay almost $6 for soda when you can get a 2 ltr bottle in the store for about $1?) If prices were lower they would increase sales. Many of the front row balcony seats are broken and need to be replaced. Some theaters have a pungent and mildew odor due to unclean carpets. These carpets should be replaced or be on a professional cleaning schedule. The perception here is that the owners of this theater wish to only run it on pennies, not updating or repairing anything, yet still charge luxurious prices. Ive been going to this theater for the past 12 years and very little has been changed or improved. Ive noticed customer levels go down, popcorn quantity go down and all concession prices almost triple in those 12 years. The best way to increase the customer level is to invest...make upgrades and repairs, give quality training to staff. Then the prices that are currently be charged will seem acceptable. From many other people, I hear the fact of its uncleanliness, high prices and old uncomfortable seating has been driving people away to go elsewhere. AMC17 could be the best theater around if the owners simply invested in it to make the appropriate changes that are needed. Especially when the local community is getting a better quality upgrade and more people moving into the area. I consider this just an okay theater. I have learned to eat before going that way Im not inclined to spend $20 on popcorn and soda for one person. Stopped by a few times over the past 30 days again. It seems like each time its either the ticket sales or concession sales that are not paying attention to the folks standing in the Premier Stubs Member line and making them wait over non-members. Im not upset, just frustrated that the jobs of these young adults are to simply provide customer service and they are falling short. AMC is trying to maintain customers by offering programs like the Premier Stubs program for a better quality of service, but its pointless when the staff members working ticket and concession sales are not giving the benefit to those members that pay for it. This simple omission of lack of customer focus will directly lead to less participants in these programs and a decrease in overall sales if not corrected by managers. I would recommend to anyone from AMC reading this, that the Premier Stubs member line for ticket sales be moved closer to the doors, so that the Premier Stubs members are the first customers the ticket sales team see. If there is a large crowd of non-paying customers in line, they most often block Premier Members out of sight from the ticket sales team members. If the line is considered to already be in a good spot, then members need to pay more attention during busier hours.

Do not go to this theater! Its so awful and a total waste of money. If I could give this theater zero stars, I would. My husband and I attended the Saturday night showing of the latest Hunger Games movie and it was an unbearable experience. The movie was set to start at 7:20pm, but due to some kind of problems (management? technical?), it never began until 7:50pm. There was a large, unattended group of teens that made loud noises, talked, and behaved obnoxiously during the ENTIRE movie. Fellow movie goers asked them to be quiet, but to no avail. Other people in the audience were on there phones throughout the film, which was also distracting. We did not see one single usher enter the room throughout the duration of the showing. During the last 20 mins of the movie, the theater staff must have finally decided to say something to one of the teens and there was a nice yelling match going on between a kid and the staff at the door to the room during the climax of the film. The rest of the group of teens remained in the theater, taunting people as the left once the movie ended. Upon leaving, we noticed that the front of the parking lot was trashed and glass bottles had been broken all over the place. The experience just sucked all around. I would never ever go back there, even if it was the last place in the state of Maryland that showed movies. Worst movie going experience ever.

I cant believe this theatre has a rating of 3.9 that is insane. It doesnt deserve 1 star but that is literally the lowest score I can give it. I dont ever write reviews, but I have had back to back to back to back terrible experiences here. The staff is lousy, there is no security, every movie I see has a group of kids being loud and obnoxious on there phones, a group of teenagers being disrespectful and rowdy towards other patrons and people constantly walking in and out being unreasonably loud during the movie. Tonight a woman was straight up talking on her cell phone, not even trying to lower her voice, talking as if she were outside just going about her daily life. I said somthing to her and she just continued, I went out of the theatre to look for security or an usher and literally I couldnt find any staff in the building. Then upon leaving the theatre there wasnt a 10 squart foot porion of the parking lot that wasnt littered with trash... filthy, disgusting theater, bad service, terrible environment. Threatening aura about the place. Im a big guy but I wouldnt suggest any women come here at night. I live in the inner city in baltimore and almost thought I was back home. Disrespect runs rampant here. Do not waste your money, you will not enjoy your experience.

The seats are comfy. Excellent sound system. What I like most about the place is that management does their utmost to keep all customers satisfied. And last but certainly not least there is an elderly black gentleman named Mr. Preston who is sitting there ready to take your tickets and always with a smile. He is also fun to joke with. There is a special place in Heaven waiting on Mr. Preston. I only have 1 problem with this theatre, in the summer months I always wear a ball cap, and I take it off while watching the movie. And I always leave my seat at the conclusion of the movie, and the cleanup crew never seen my hats, so I lose a half dozen hats a summer. The clean up crew pays no mind to the trash if they find my hats they throw it away. So their lost and found is basically if you lose it, its gone forever.

From the reviews I couldnt tell this, but this location (especially the mall) is an older more run-down location. The theater definitely has the baked in popcorn smells of a 20-year old theater and I sat in a seat that smelled like it has suffered from mildew/water damage a few months ago. That said, we went and saw IMAX 3D Guardians of the Galaxy and once the lights went down and the IMAX projector came up, all was forgotten. The picture was excellent, bright and sharp (just like any other fancy/high end AMC theater Ive been to for IMAX 3D showings). So if you are all about the picture and dont care about anything else, this theater is fine. If you are all about getting dinner/lunch before the movie and walking around a nice mall and then going to see your movie - look somewhere else.
