Went to the AMC Showplace Mattoon tonight to see Money Monster. Bought tickets, went to buy popcorn and soda. The guy behind the counter talked me into buying the large combo, said I could get free refills. Told him I probably couldnt finish the one I had. He said, come before you leave, get a refill and take it home. Went into the theater where my movie was going to be played. My husband and I started eating popcorn, 5 minutes later, fire alarm goes off. We are told we have to leave and go to the parking lot. The popcorn machine caught fire and was in the parking lot. We were told to leave, bring back tickets another day and see our movie. I asked about our large popcorn and soda. Were told we will have to buy it again when we come back!!!! Not going to happen. That stuff is expensive. Not happy with AMC at all.

Seriously the most unpleasant visit I have ever had. I will never be returning to Mattoon AMC ever again. I tried to get more information on signing up for their rewards since you cant buy anything unless you are. Absolutely no one would give me the time of day, including the manager, so I said forget and paid for our tickets. Since we werent signed up for rewards a drink and popcorn would cost $16 instead of $6 so we just went to the theater. The theater smelled ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING and there was trash everywhere. Im assuming no one cleaned between movies but considering it was a Tuesday afternoon my guess is that no one cleaned it. Our clothes wreaked after sitting in the seats through the movie and we had to go home and changed before continuing our day. If I could rate zero stars, I would.

This is literally the cheapest amc theater I have ever been to that shows new releases (and Ive lived in five states). The concession prices are still the same old jacked up prices, but weekday matinee tickets are 4$ and weekend tickets are still only $8. People whove lived in the area forever need to stop complaining. In big cities if you want to see a movie on the weekend youre shelling out at least ten dollars for tickets alone. The place is a little dingy and could have better seats and screens, but for four bucks a movie Id sit on the floor.

Loving the cheaper movie prices, but come on..... whats with the extremely high prices on the popcorn and drinks? Your prices for snacks are so high you give customers no option but to rent from family video/redbox so we can make our own popcorn at home from a bag that cost LESS than $3.00! Plus they only serve carbonated drinks and no lemonade.... what about those of us that dont or cant have sodas? I know these comments wont go anywhere and they wont do anything about their snack prices!

Took my little sister to see minions. She is 8 and has severe food allergies. We brought her special organic popcorn and were told we couldnt bring it :/ and asked to leave because someone complained. We will not be returning. We spent over $40 for this nonsense. The manager told us if someone complained they have no choice. This is ridiculous.

There is a premiere member line on weekends when it is busy but they dont check ppl to see if they actually have this membership to be in that line. 4 people which were behind us in the regular line went into premiere line and got in way faster than us. If u r going to have a special line for members, make sure they are members!

The service is good . To much noise in there so we left early.and it wasnt the movie.Would have loved to see the end. The people were asked to quite down but as soon as nobody was watching . Right back to it. The goodies are pricey, but that is everywhere. Didnt know I could gotten tickets to see it again due to the noise.

This place is ridiculous it cost 74$ for 3 adults and 1 kid no free refills(u have to spend another 20$ for refills) and not to mention we were willing to pay 20$ for 2 hotdogs but were told it would take 30 min for them to be ready! How is this place even in business???? I dont think we will ever go back.

Cheap movie tickets, but popcorn and soda is $20, a new level of ripoff! Also, they dont have fresh corn in the popcorn maker, its always the bottom of the bag type of kernel. I make a point to call them out on this when the corn costs $10, if i have to sit and wait for fresh popcorn, i do so.

Show areas are small prices are too high!! Would love to take kids more but it cost almost $60 for the show 2 drinks and large popcorn and thats when they had the special going buy 1 slushie get 2nd free. That was the cheapest they had!! Lower prices and they would make more money!!

Ticket prices are very fair (although they list seniors separately but do not give any discount) Ushers never check back to see if cell phones are on or lit up., Cant people wait two hours to check their cat videos?? Yes, eats are costly but they are at every theatre.

This theatre was fine when the Savoy and Champaign theatres were average too, but now that the theatres in Savoy and Champaign have been significantly renovated, the only thing the Mattoon theatre offers is geographical convenience. Hoping they renovate soon.

This is a clean theater with a decent selection of movies. You have to drive to Champaign to find better. By the time a film is older it is relegated to the smaller screens, nice but not epic. I recommend a matinee for the price and crowd conscious.

Screens in a couple rooms are starting to get scratched up making it a little less clear to watch, concessions are beyond overpriced..totally defeats being happy about cheap movies.. overall ur better going elsewhere

The movies are way too pricey!! 2 pretzels, lg popcorn and lg drink $28! I guess they have to over charge due to not ever having large volume of people. FYI for them...lower prices= more customers.

Ticket prices are a lot cheaper than other theaters around but the only thing I dont like is how expensive the candy is and also how small the screens are. Other than that, everything is great!

I dont typically write reviews. I love this theater! Soda and popcorn might be more expensive than other places?, but its a move theater.. its just what it is. Also, very clean!

Clean theater. The rope lines ate a little ridiculous and unnecessary; they make navigating the lobby needlessly difficult.

Movies are always great! But the cost of popcorn, candy, etc. Is out the roof! Costs lots. But the popcorn is always good!
