This is a film center rather than a movie theater. A great place to socialize while having a drink as well as watching a movie that you would normally not see anywhere else. The staff are wonderful and down to earth. Now, getting to the comment below in concern to courtesy cups, well he is the scoop. What everyone doesnt know is that the only way a film center or movie theater can stay in existence is with concession sales. The movie theaters rent the movies at a high price on contract. The theater does NOT make money via the box office. The amount of courtesy cups asked for by patrons were enough to lose money on. And concession sales is what pays for everything else like payroll. Next time you complain, think about someones job (a family member of yours for example) on the line. And why else do you think most theaters dont allow outside food or beverages. THINK ABOUT IT If you want to see a movie next time and its not there because you complained.....because they couldnt make any money via concessions to stay in business.

Theatre is clean, well priced movies, cheaply priced concessions with comfortable seating and awesome movies you cant see anywhere else. Now for a one star review. Just received a $37 ticket for parking in a LEFE spot. Have never heard of this before and can find almost no information online. Not surprising since only three parking garages in the state of Ohio, all on OSU campus, have them. If the spot you park in has a dark green spot on it that is almost impossible to see when you are parking in a dark parking garage. Column several spots away from where we parked, and not between us and the Gateway entrance FYI, had information about LEFE, also in dark green lettering. LEFE in big letters, the word Restricted buried in a sentence below in small letters. Honestly makes me never want to go back to this place again. Turned what had been a pleasant afternoon out with my wife sour. Thanks. First day out with just the two of us in months. Everyone be aware.

This is a fantastic theater that legitimizes Columbus as a city that appreciates art, and is something the community should be proud of. They offer both blockbusters and limited-release, foreign, animation, and art-house films with a variety and selection that rivals eclectic theaters in larger cities. They have excellent customer service, and a small on-site bar/restaurant that is nice to visit before or after a flick. What sets the Gateway apart, however, is the clear passion for film held by those who work there. The theaters are always clean and comfortable, the projection is excellent, and the array of special events reveals a passion for film that will make you excited about going to the movies and supporting this institution. A few examples: Sci-Fi sleepovers, the Groundhog Day Marathon, this years cult film series, and Saturday Morning Cartoons - theres a lot of creativity there. I love the Gateway!

Its a great independent cinema with good beer options, decent food, and a fun mini art gallery. You can find a lot of films here that dont exist elsewhere, e.g., Kickstarter Film Festival and the Manhatten Film Festival. There are discounts for BuckIDs (last I knew, $5 tickets). They work with SBB to prived one free monthly movie screening to card holders (SBB is free to join). Every Tuesday night they also have free unlimited popcorn (and, I think, reduced price admission of $5). The restrooms are also very nice and feature local artisan soaps. And in a great move to give back to the community, they also provide special sensory friendly screenings for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders. One of the features of ASD is greater sound sensitivity, and so this gives them the opportunity to enjoy the cinema experience.

My boys went here for the dragon ball z movie event. They had a blast, didnt have any complaints with the seating. To the lady who griped about the seating arrangements. Remember to read the fine print, before complaining about something that does NOT exist. It specifically states that reserving a ticket does NOT GUARANTEE,that you will get a SEAT. It is up to you get there early enough to get a descent seat. The fine print also states, that the seating arrangement is on a first come first serve basis, so i disagree with your review, and will be flagging it as such..;) Other than that my boys had an awesome time here! Before posting a bad review, make sure that you READ THE FINE PRINT, when purchasing tickets!!!

There is no finer film seeing experience in the city, and possibly the nation. The theater is always clean, the chairs are comfortable, and the projections and sounds sharp and crisp. They pick a wide range of features, mixing the big blockbusters with independent, classic, foreign, and local selections. Often the non-standard showings get top billing, and keeping a diligent eye on their schedule is always rewarded. They also pair events with their features, which make the experiences even more fulfilling and social. The concessions are well priced, and complimented with a full bar and a wide craft beer selection.

The Gateway is an eclectic movie theater that shares its space with a restaurant, a night club, and a splashed on art gallery that features a different artist from time to time. Youll find that its back screening room is nothing like you will find anywhere else in town, with just 16 lazy boy type chairs for seating. You can find me here weekends after midnight, when independent horror is usually screening. Dont be shy at the concession stand. Prices here are HALF of what they are other theatres. The only reason I cant give five stars is they still dont have subtitles for hard to hearing folks. Just headphones.

Gateway is one of the best movie theaters Ive been to, hidden between some sticky bars that make it seem like an ordinary college-area locale. Cheap tickets, delicious beer, lots of deals for loyal customers, and one of the best places for movie (and television) variety anywhere. You can find huge lines for all the midnight openings, but youll also find independent movies, international cinema, class westerns and horror movies, 24 hour Groundhog Day marathons, as well as live showings of Mad Men and Sharknado. Check out the trivia nights on Tuesdays and Fridays for a chance of free tickets.

Gateway Film Center is a must stop place in Columbus, Ohio. It doesnt matter if youre visiting the University, at the Zoo or simply driving through - You have to experience this place. The environment is fantastic, the music they play is great and they have a wide variety of terrific movies to choose from. We were there days before Holloween and they were showing several different classic scary movies including "Hitchcocktober" with all of Alfreds bests. Its truly a great place and a must do in Columbus if youre looking for a good experience.

Great theater that has new movies and older ones. Each room is called a house and they are smaller than a normal theater. Park in the parking garage right next door and they will validate you for only $2. You can enter the parking garage from 11th or 10th and you can basically walk right out to the theater entrance. This is a theater that focuses on independent and local stuff, but they have major movies too. This theater is in an area that is very popular and bust so plenty of food places near by.
