First off 1) I do like this place as its great to see the old rice lake theater come back to life after being home to several other business in this location. I believe SMG will be a success here as they have the right model and offering. If you havent been - please go as its nice to go to a theater where you can actually have dinner instead of eating unnecessary popcorn and other food items. My problem with the theater are as follows A) why oh why does no theater ever realize that having a seat where the arm rest goes up makes the entire experience better for couples. The only theater to ever do that is AMC. Personally I understand why the cheap theaters(ogden 6 -tickets $4) dont do this, but when a new theater comes in and ignores this fact I see it being a lack of both thinking and good design. Aside from that the design is a sleeker looking theater compared to competitors in the area like Hollywood Palms and Hollywood Blvd. Their lobby is rather nice to actually relax in before your movie. B) Food: Its good that they have fruit and other healthy items. I will say their black bean burger, while it is what i normally order, does not compare to how tasty smash burgers black bean burger is. My issue is that they charge you at a minimum $10 for a dish, no less, but what they do is they fill everything with fries to allow them to make a higher profit margin on the food. You might be saying, "well doesnt every restaurant do this?" And in response to that, I will say that it surprised me how low the ratio of Food:Fries was in each entree Ive ordered there. For example, if I didnt eat the fries that came with the dish and only ate the entree, I would starve by the end of the week. Well guess what, fries are not healthy. So why the heck does SMG make the default option for the healthy meals choices force you to have fries or feel like you are being totally ripped off by payng $13 for nothing more than a burger and a drink. Plus, if i want to substitute for a healthy option instead of fries, as fries are the opposite of nutritional since they are not considered a vegetable but a grain due to the high starch content- why the hell do you have to nickle and dime me when it comes to having a healthy side like fruit or vegetables. It makes you feel in a box a bit as its easy to spend way to much here as if you get a drink and then upgrade to the fruit for 3 dollars, suddenly you just paid 16+tip for something that you would get more of elsewhere for cheaper, and to top it off, would taste better too! I believe this shows a lack of 1) care for consumers long term health and 2)consideration of the experience of those choosing to be healthy. Overall, My main problems with SMG are not the service, as I find them to be quite courteous, nice and helpful, but in how they chose to design their food offerings and price structure - as I have found to a large extent the food, while fun to eat in a theater is the opposite of a good value given my experience trying to eat healthy as it seems for dinner they provide small portions of the entree for a side they load up the rest of the plate with an awkwardly large amount of fries relative to what we actually ordered, and finally for dessert, they nickle and dime you when it comes to being healthy. Must say it put a rather sour taste in my mouth.

Although my server was nice, she did not ensure I received my food in a timely fashion. She passed by my seat several times without once asking me if I needed anything and without even noticing that I was still waiting on my food for the last 45 minutes. I understand it is dark in the theater and there are hundreds of people and its hard to keep track of who ordered, but come on, you cant drop by and ask if I need anything so I can talk to you about not getting my food for the last 45 minutes? Furthermore, I pressed the red button twice and two additional servers ensured me my food would be come and it never did, the second girl, a fat woman, brushed me off rudely and told me it was coming. When my food did arrive, the guy who brought it didnt even check my seat, he asked one person, two seats down from me if it was their food (even though they had food in front of them) and didnt even bother to use his peripheral vision to see that I didnt have any food at my desk. He left before I could even process what the hell he was doing. Finally, my server came back and instead of asking me if I needed anything, asks my coworker next to me if she needed anything even though she got her food and my coworker had to tell her, that my food never arrived. Even though my server personally delivered food to my desk and said sorry, I couldnt even concentrate on the movie because for the first 45 minutes I had to flag down two people to inquire about my food. Furthermore, the movie didnt even start on time, it started half hour later, and I ended up leaving late. All bathrooms were congested and I had to piss at the restaurant across the street. The drinks I ordered before the movie didnt even get me buzzed because they were watered down drinks. When I finally got my food, the chicken and fries were cold on the inside and the way that the waiter placed the sauce on my plate when she placed my food on the desk, some of the sauce flew off and landed on my hoodie. Im still washing my hoodie to get the honey barbeque off. I will never return to this place. After spending 40 dollars in one movie, I feel it was the worst movie experience Ive ever had in my life.

I had no clue what rating to give this place. Well really I did. I dont understand why they dont let you do half star ratings, because 3.5 stars describes this place perfectly. Ive been to several of these sorts of premium movie type experiences and this place is solidly right above middle grade. I only have a couple of small complaints. First off is there are far too much words on their tickets. The seat number is nearly impossible to find unless you really know where to look for it it doesnt really jump out at you and it isnt bold or anything. You basically kind of have to remember where you got your seats. That may be a little difficult to do if you had a drink or two at the bar. The drinks are well made and their specials allow you to come here without breaking the bank. Their food prices are among the cheapest of any theater Ive been to that serves a full meal. The downside is the food doesnt really bring fond memories to mind. Its almost as if you combined the TGI Fridays or Chillis quality of food and rolled it out into this place. The drinks were quite tasty to the point that I almost thought they were loosing money on them. There was also a small snafu as the movie I was watching had a glitch in the middle where the picture went away. It was addressed though and they resumed play where the picture went away. Its kind of funny because for the first minute or so of this I thought it was some sort of theatrical choice rather than a malfunction. All things considered, if you are a suburbanite, this is an excellent place to see a movie and get food without breaking the bank.
