I took my girlfriend to this movie theater for the first time because we were in the LA area and we wanted to watch a movie. We went on 4/12/13, we decided to watch the Scarey Movie 5. We watched the first 30 mins and we decided that this movie wasnt for us. We went to the lobby and asked to speak to the manager. The manager came after 10 mins of making us wait for him. He did just about everything until he came to assist us. He didnt even introduce himself to us, he appeared to be very rude and was not even smiling. Anyways, I asked him nicely for a refund and he refused. He said that its company policy and they dont do refunds. Then I asked him why? he looked at his watch and said "hey its 2:35 p.m and the movie started at 1:50 p.m". He was lying because there was also previews and there was at least one more hour left in the movie. He said we can walk into any other movie we want too, without even asking us what our preference was. Then he turned his back on us like we were his abandoned children. Then I went up to him and I asked him for a third time on why he doesnt do refunds? he said "it was your poor decision to pick the movie, not mine". At that point I was outraged but his moronic response and I decided to leave the theaters with my girlfriend. I told him "you are gonna get a lot of nice reviews sir", he said " okay, we will see." I asked for his name and he said it was Marleen. All of the workers at this location are rude and deserve to get fired. Nobody is upbeat and wants to actually be there. Its a shame to see such unprofessional employes, clean up youre mess Rave Cinemas. I will never again attend another Rave Cinemas and I will continue to oversee its downfall. GOOD JOB MARLEEN YOU DID YOUR JOB BUDDY!

I’ve been going to the theater at the Howard Hughes Promenade for years. It’s changed ownership a few times but it’s service and design has pretty much remained the same. One of the biggest theaters in LA, it has 18 screening rooms and one stadium seating XD (Xtreme Digital 3D) theater that’s pretty amazing. The tickets for the XD theater is a lot more than the already pricey movie tickets these days but the experience is well worth it every once in a while. Many of the theaters have cozy leather seats, and the ones that don’t are still pretty comfortable and spacious. All the blockbusters are shown here and additionally, some select independent films which is a plus for me as I’m a lover of indie films. They also due special screening promotions where they’ll show a series of classics that you can buy as a package for a really cheap price. This is great for those that are interested in blasts from the past or a little nostalgia on a big screen. Two owners ago, the concession stand was really awesome, with specialty food items like chicken tenders, fries, Haagen-Dazs ice cream bars, but it has gone back to the standard concession items: popcorn, nachos, hot dog, pretzels, soda, slushees, candy. There is a bar/lounge inside of the theater that is open late and is pretty nice. They have several TVs so you can catch the game as well. You can come early to get drinks or dinner there in the lounge or grab it to go and bring into the theater. Yes, you can have a beer or cocktail while you watch the show! Theyve raised parking for the center to a $3 flat rate which I think is ridiculous but it is what it is. Basically, be prepared to spend money when you come here!

Its certainly true that the cheap matinee and student prices (6 dollars for 3D) are a tantalizing reason for coming to this despicable establishment, but what you get for that price is pure rubbish!! 1st strike- The movie start time was 12:40, I was seated at 12:35 and errors occurred almost immediately. The screen froze and had an error message for a good 15 mins. I should of took this as a sign of to get my refund but I was too eager to see The Hobbit I waited it out.... 2nd strike- The previews finally came on closer to 1pm and we are all prompted to put on our 3D glasses... Almost immediately we all notice the 3D effect isnt working -_-. I miss all my delish previews in attempt to contact management and let them know their system is on the fritz. 3rd strike- Once the movie begins and the first seen is high intensity action, and the volume is off. The dialogue is almost inaudible and the chaos and destruction this dragon in the movie is creating and similar to popcorn crackles. It sounds completely low budget, as if we are watching a film at home on the lowest possible volume. My brother gets management and have them listen to the movie, they identify that the sound is a bit off, but tells us theres probably nothing they can do to fix it...... Its safe to assume I wont be back to this theater especially for action films. Maybe something that requires subtitles since the volume is so low that youll need them anyway. Needless to say I left mid movie and got a refund.

Terrible customer service! We happened to stop at Howard Hughes Center, and decided to see a movie. Our daughter didnt happen to have a student ID, since she doesnt yet carry a purse, and we hadnt planned to see a movie (plus its summer - no need for her to carry it all the time). The ticket seller refused to give her the student discount - which would have cut $6 off of the price - despite the fact that she is very clearly a student, because at her age, it would be illegal for her not to be. Most kids dont carry their student IDs until theyre old enough to carry a wallet or purse. I was a manager at a megaplex, fora competing company, and we would not have refused a student discount for customers that stopped in for an unplanned movie and happened not to have a student ID - nor have we ever been refused the discount anytime our kids were growing up and forgot to carry their ID to a movie theatre! What is even worse was the ticket sellers complete nonchalance about the whole thing. She could not have cared less about providing customer service and using common sense in realizing that our daughter HAD to be a student, at her age. Cinemark lost $30 in ticket sales today, plus another likely $40 in concessions, as well as any future money from our family and friends. Kudos for a complete lack of concern about accommodating a customer, HH Cinemark.

Been coming here since it opened as The Bridge. Back then, aside from AMC Universal City Walk, this was arguably the fanciest movie complex in L.A. County (MTV used to film here). Since then, it has lost some of its sheen and the wear and tear on this facility is starting to show. If Cinemark management reads this, they should consider at least ripping and installing new carpet and give this place a makeover: AMC has stepped its game up with newer, refurbed dine-and-drink theaters in L.A. But its still pretty solid in terms of presentation and sound (only had one projection issue in the many years Ive been here). Agree that the staff could use some customer-centric attitude training. Cinemark has some good promos like the $6 Tuesdays, bargain matinees. Hate paying to park here. To be blunt, I go here because its so close to where I live. I was disappointed to see Cinemark ditch the IMAX projectors in the biggest theater here - they call it the XD screen which means its just huge with loud surround sound, but not IMAX. Took my son to see the Lego Batman movie in XD theater and it was still pretty awesome to see a movie on a screen that huge. Overall will continue to come here due to proximity, but hope the new Howard Hughes Center facelift brings some much needed new life to this venue. And ditch the parking fees!
