Ive been going to The Desert Star Cinema since I was born. Through my 21 years this place has gone through more owner/management changes than Joan Rivers face has had plastic surgery. AMC has taken the reigns the past few years and I am slowly feeling more disdain towards the theater and everything that it represents. First and foremost its prices are ridiculous. I realize they have to be expensive to pay for employees, tickets, new projector ext. But for GODS SAKE I CANT SPEND 20 DOLLARS A PIECE PAYING FOR ME AND A FRIEND TO SEE PLANES IN 3D!! I understand that the location is in the Dells and, not saying any names, but out-of-staters have lots of money and want to spoil their kids with vacations. But us locals, who have been supporting you since DAY ONE are having a hard time footing the bill just to take the family out for a movie and popcorn. Lastly but not least this weekend (8/30/2013) my mother, myself and a friend were planning on seeing The Grandmaster. Amazing looking movie if youre into foreign Chinese films. AMC desert star plays trailers for the movie and has posters up for it. The release date is today AND, however, they will not be playing the Grandmaster this weekend. All other AMC theaters in Wisconsin i.e. Fitchburg and the silly one in the Wauwatosa mall are all playing it. Disappointed. AMC get your selves together.

Its Christmas day and my mom and I usually see a movie every year. She just passed away and in memory of her my husband and I wanted to go. The website was not working and so when I called to kindly ask if it were possible to pay over the phone so we didnt drive an hour to our hometown for nothing the manager jasmine was extremely rude. She told me there was no way they would do any sort of payment over the phone. Its Christmas day, an emotional day since my mom is now gone. I got off the phone and cried knowing how rudely this woman spoke to me. No one should be treated like that. I hope corporate sees this. I wouldnt want someone so nasty working with my customers. Stay away.

The place is always filthy. The carpets shoud have been replaced years ago. The employees nomally huddle in the main area sitting at the tables many times with the Manager. The mens bathrooms smell like urine, are also filthy and at one time one stall was out of order for over 6 months! Owning several business in the same area I am embarassed that such a poorly run theater is surrounded for the most part by other good businesses. I suggest any patron contiplating going to this theater drive to the Marcus Theater in Middleton. Even though it take an extra 30 minutes to get to its worth the ride!

I dont think the comments below me know what a bad theater truly is. Ive lived in a big city and this place is literally a dream comparatively. Big, open, clean, tickets prices are pretty standard. People out here dont appreciate this, but I love that this theater is never overly crowded. Even on holiday weekends movies dont sell out and if you wait a week or two after a movies initial release, you usually will have an entire theater to yourself and your family. In the city an empty theater is the stuff of legends. As far as theaters go AMC Desert Star 15 is the most enjoyable one I have visited.

Prices Way Way Way out of line. Will not be back. 14 plus dollars to see the movie The Mummy, which sucked bad enough that I left after trying to stomach watching only a quarter of the movie, It was absolutely horrible!!! Tom Cruise needs to find a new career. Cant act. Very surprised and very disappointed to see Russell Crowe even associated with Cruise or at all with this horrible thing they dare to call a movie. 10 plus dollars for a drink and lousy box of milk duds. Talk about an absolute rip off!!! Dells Gouging!!!

Nice big beautiful theater! The only reason I give it 4 instead of 5 is for the quality of food. If you visit do yourself a favor and eat out somewhere else. They advertise all the new food items they have but they are garbage. Im not a picky guy and maybe I should stick to popcorn and soda at the movies but man. So many different options and I was feeling adventurous.....What a mistake

Most of the cinema was clean. Floors of the seat area were a bit sticky but ok. I cannot comment on the bathrooms as I did not have to use them. Movie screen in Auditorium 13 was great. Seats were ok but they didnt seem to recline back enough. Concessions were a bit costly but I understand that is where they make their money from. Overall my wife and I had a great date night.

The 3D effect didnt work and I had to complain three times before anyone went to fix it. 20 min into the movie they fixed it and refused to start it over. I had my tickets refunded, but still wasted my afternoon for a frustrating experience and spent $18.65 on two drinks and a popcorn I no longer wanted.

Only go there because it is the only movie theater around the baraboo/Wisconsin Dells area. You cant get any thing without being an AMC stubs member, which is really annoying. Now you cant get free refills on large popcorn anymore. You cant buy anything under $5. Everything is so expensive.

Okay is probably the best word for it. Prices arent too bad during the week but you will get gouged on the weekends, trust me. Pretty typical for AMC, not squeaky clean but not filthy either. Food prices are through the roof, as expected of any theater.

To all the morons complaining about price, this is the standard price for theaters nowadays. If you find a place cheaper you will also be giving up luxuries like comfortable seating, big screens, 3d, & excellent sound. Too many whiny bitches nowadays.

We always enjoy going to this theater. Not only are the employees pleasant and cordial, the facility itself is very nice. The entrance has a beautiful mosaic on the ceiling. Plus there are tables inside so you can sit and wait for your party.

The good: clean, local, large enough for the area, you can express check in with pre-purchased tickets. The bad: sometimes the volume is horrifically loud, the popcorn is on the small side, and snacks, as always, are expensive.

Some quality. But, theater #12 smelled like a locker room and you could see the crusty dirt under the chairs. Another theater didnt have the smell. Actually, Im boycotting as long as a "Fifty Shades" movie is showing there.

Sorry but WAY to expensive for a movie and concessions! For family of 3 expect to spend 60 dollars in order to be able to enjoy the movie. Place is clean and well kept but like i said, to expensive even for the tourist!

This place is absolutely fantastic, great prices and big roomy seats with true theater seating so no one has to look around the heads of the people in front of you. Great place to catch a flick
