6/29 update: 5 stars on customer service. The carmike team reached out and were kind enough to offer me an explanation as to what happened the other day and did offer their apologies. What occured was an accident that could most likely not be prevented and I appreciate someone addressing my issue. Thanks carmike. This review would have been 5 stars if not for this past weekend. My boyfriend and I usually try to catch a movie every other Sunday at Carmike, and every time, we have always been pleased with the service, staff, and facilities. Granted the prices are steep, but thats any theater in the country, so we dont mind paying. We have both been excited to see Independence Day in theaters and we knew it being action packed, we really wanted to have a great viewin experience. Neither of us had tried the Big D Experience, so we decided to go all in for this big movie event. We splurged for our Big D experience, tickets, popcorn, tons of candy, drinks: over $40 for 2 people. There were maybe 20 people in that theater, but we were going to have a great time. And everything was great. Sound, picture, film...everything. Then towards the ending of the movie, the CLIMAX..the lights in the whole theater turn on. Not on and off. Just ON. Now the screen is barely visible because of the lights, people are talking, no one wants to get up to get someone for fear of missing a scene which we can still hear through audio or because the lights may turn off. But alas, they do turn off...minutes later..as the movie has about one scene left and the credits begin to roll in the darkness.I just dont undertake why they turned on in the first place.

I had to give this theater a rating of "1" because after visiting tonight it became clear to me that management either doesnt care about their customers and/or they are incapable of maintaining control of their facility. I paid extra to see Wonder Woman in "Big D" at 7 pm on Sunday, June 4th, 2017 at AMC Champaign 13 (formally Carmike 13) in Champaign, Illinois. There was a group of a dozen or so teenagers whom, throughout the entire movie, kept yelling, talking, shouting, cussing, taking pictures, wrestling, throwing change at each other, and other obnoxious/distracting/disrespectful actions. There were multiple complaints but only once did staff come and ask them to please keep quiet. Staff did not check back in on the situation, they did not request to see those members tickets, nor did they ask them to leave. Families even got up and left for home while the movie was still playing. Other people were shouting at the teenagers in a rage of anger. It got to a point where the safety of those teens and the safety of others was becoming a concern. Still, after all the complaints, people leaving, and angry audience members yelling, the teens were never approached by staff a second time. To add insult to injury, I walked out of the theater only to find those same teens out in the parking lot, leaning up against other peoples cars, throwing their cups at their friends and leaving their litter, being loud and obnoxious. Its clear to me that the staff was both indifferent of the entire audiences movie experience and lacked the leadership to handle the situation. #AMCTheatres #AMCChampaign13 #CarmikeCinemas #Carmike13

Went and saw Deadpool on a saturday morning here. The lines at concessions (Which are also ticket sales?? kind of strange and inefficient) were very long and to make things worse, the employees werent very quick and had to ask everyone if they wanted to make a donation to something , if they were a loyalty program member, and if they wanted to join. It just made that process a bit painful. Theres also a 4 dollar upcharge to see films in the "BIG D" theatre. Why they chose that name, Ill never really know, but it seemed like a bit of a steep price for that. Anyway, Ill quit complaining now. The Coke freestyle machines for getting drinks were great and made that process easy and fast (there were plenty of machines so you didnt have to wait for someone to make a selection) , the theatre itself was clean and very modern on the inside. The BIG D theatre specifically was really fancy with a glass entryway lined with sparkling black wall tiles , the theatre was huge, as was the screen, and the seats were also very nice. Not full recliners , but very nice rock-back seats. The sound quality was great (Dolby Atmos) and the picture looked very good as well. Though I hate paying that much extra to see something in the BIG D, Id probably do it again because it was a great experience. This is one of the better theatres Ive visited.

Man oh man. So this review is a long time coming. Wanted to see The Cure for Wellness awhile back, looked on their website for times and arrived at the theatre to buy tickets. When I got to the front of the line the cashier told me that the only showing was an hour and a half later. Went home disappointed. Tried again two days later, bought tickets, went in the theatre, and after 20 minutes of trailers, they began showing the WRONG MOVIE. I and several other people informed staff and had it corrected. But dont worry, I got to sit through another 15 minutes of trailers and Coke ads. Then just tonight my wife and I went to see an R rated movie and there were several small children with no adults disrupting the movie. Not sure how kids clearly underage were able to buy tickets for R rated movies is beyond me. Get it together Carmike 13, youre better than this.
