As a frequent movie-goer at the Westhampton, I agree with other commenters that this is a great place to see a film. But it could easily be improved upon. Ticket sales are painfully slow, even with cash. Why it takes several minutes for the computer to process a ticket for each customer is a mystery. Thats a minor quirk unless the line is long and the weather cold (as it was last night). And why does this theater sell absurdly over-priced popcorn and snacks just like those unpleasant megaplexes? What it needs is a decent coffee shop atmosphere in the lounge area and a more imaginative and reasonably priced menu. The movie selection has been much better in recent months..unlike a year or two ago when dreary depressing inconsequential films stayed on for weeks. But still, were fortunate to have this little theater in our neighborhood. Thanks for keeping it going!

The seats creak, some rock like a bolt or two are missing. The padding in the seats ran out in the 80s. The upstairs screen is pretty small. People that walk in or out during the movie do so from the front and that means heads in your way while they move past. Weekend lines can be pretty long with only one person ever working the ticket counter. And for all of these reasons and more, this is the best place in Richmond to see a show. Avoid the monstrous movie complex and instead relax and enjoy an edgy indie film in the coolest movie house in the city.

Before reading this, bear in mind I am a "youthful 50ish" person. So the guy taking the tickets says, "Are you a senior?" Really?! I said, "Do I LOOK like Im a senior?" I mean, honestly--dont push it. Ticket taker responds, "I have to ask everyone" (kinda like carding for beer?). Then I say, "Is the movie CHEF still playing?" Guy responds, "Unfortunately so." And Westhampton wonders why it continues to struggle to stay open? A little PR on the front side, guys! Otherwise, this and the Byrd still rock RVA.

Such a refreshing get-a-way for the afternoon. Drove with a friend from Lynchburg to Richmond to see the movie "Buck" on its short run. This was the closest theater in which it would be playing! The quaint street with restaurants, Starbucks, Cupcakes, etc. within 2 blocks was a wonderful place to spend the hour before the movie (and after). This wonderful 2-screen cinema nestled in the heart of this area was a treat! The staff was kind and sociable. The feel, nostalgic. Would do again!

I brought the kids for the children movie and there were too many nonsense ads prior tha actual movie starts and I was sick of it. It involved horror, romance and actions that are not appropriate to children. Children movies shouldnt have that starting. Never ever bring the kids for movies

It was a great place for movie classics, or for films no one else was screening, spacing was tight but you felt like you were in a grand theatre of old. Sadly, this theatre is now closed, demolished, and the site of new construction.

Very cramped seating, many seats are broken or loose...a theatre in such poor repair should at least have a reduced admission fee....its time to retire this old place !

Great place to go for a movie. They tend to show the best intelligent movies. Love the popcorn, the feel and the location. Get diner at the Continental right beside it.

Great old theatre. I went here as a child 50 years ago for 18cents kids ticket. They should open a coffee shop in the lobby then it would be perfect.

Classic movie house showing the highest quality offerings. Not the place for dollar kids movies, but a lovely oasis for film lovers.

Will miss this place so much... Why does Richmond always close the places of history that makes it so special?
