Went to see a movie with my mom and instead, ended up walking out in tears. The line was long and I tried standing in it but knew that I would not make it standing there for another 10-15 minutes. I went to the side to speak to an employee about using the "wheelchair line" even though my wheelchair was not present and explained what my disability was (I have POTS and pass out and have seizure like convulsions) and that I didnt want to just go to that line and cause an issue. The employee then called a manager over who I had to re-explain the entire thing to. He told me next time I need to bring my wheelchair or purchase a ticket online but that he would make a "one time exception" for me. He escorted my mom and I over to the wheelchair line and immediately I was called by the next cashier. Once I got up to her to get my ticket she huffed and rolled her eyes and let me know that "next time I need to stand in the regular line". I was embarrassed and definitely lost my cool and my tears started flowing. I told her I had just spoken to the manager and that it was not ok to treat me as though I was being lazy. I ended up just throwing my hands up and walking out. I brought my handicap placard back in to show the manager and try to speak with him about invisible illnesses and that not everyone looks or fits a criteria on the outside of having a disability. He didnt understand what the problem was and felt as though his employee handled it in a fair matter. Bottom line...I rarely speak up about how Im feeling. I rarely use my handicap placard and have a hard time reaching out for help when I need it....this broke me tonight.

This place is decent. Its kind of expensive, we spent $32 on two tickets, water, and sour patch kids most recently. They do have military discounts and alcohol here which is nice. There is also a birthday party room for kids and a good selection of snacks and drink options too. If you decide to see a really popular movie on the weekends its best to buy tickets online or else youll be waiting for a bit. My biggest complaint is the smells. They have carpet floors in some areas and cloth seats which hold every smell imaginable. There seems to always be a funky smell in eatch theater room whenever i go. The place is clean, i just dont think cloth seats and carpeting are good for a movie theater this size that sees so much traffic.

This is my favorite theater in North Carolina. It is huge, and comforting, and they have a refillable ICEE and Freestyle soda machine. They also have refillable buckets that last a year, which is pretty cool because you dont have to pay the full price of a large popcorn every time you go to the movies. Plus on Tuesdays the do $5 tickets if you have the AMC Stubs membership. And whats even cooler about this place is it is practically in the same parking lot as Krispy Kream, Chicago Pizza, Fuzzy Peach (A Pretty awsome Fro Yo place), Buffalo Wild Wings (A yummy sports bar, wings, burgers kinda place), Acadamey, and some other places. This place is a great theater for family, friends, movie dates and even birthday partys

I love someone opened up a better theater in Jacksonville. However when you post no costume or face paint, etc. And you then allow a female on the second night if "IT" playing to walk in with full clown makeup and costume. It kinda defeats your rule. I wanted to dress my youngest like Georgie but seen that rule upon purchasing tickets earlier that day. Stick to your rules and enforce them or trust me in Jacksonville your theater will become overran by the rule breakers here. Also it was absolutely freezing in theater. We were told tickets were sold out but there was an empty seat by me and a few others the whole movie. My husband wanted to go the last minute and couldnt. So thanks again!

The theater is nice and the Big D auditorium is great, so why the very low review? The method for purchasing tickets is ridiculous. There is a single line to purchase snacks and tickets, so if all you want to do is get a ticket then you are waiting a long time. Get there early if you are going to peak times and plan to stand in line a looooong time. I am not sure who said this is a better method than having a dedicated box office for ticket sales, but it is slow and frustrating. Too make matters worse, there usually only 3 or so registers open. I prefer the other theater for this reason alone even though it uses a similar method ( but uses its box office on weekends).

Clean, but the prices on everything is ridiculously expensive. I have to go on 5$ Tuesdays to feel like I get a good deal. The Big D theater is very comfortable even though the price is outrageous. I do like the flavor adds to any drink. Especially flavored fizzy water. Helps me not miss soda so much. Since the theatre has changed from Carmike Cinema to AMC, I definitely recommend getting the upgrade membership. Getting in the fast lane helps. The drink and popcorn discounts are decent. Earning points towards 5$ rewards to pay for the next movie is worth it. Not to mention the 5$ Tuesday movies. Ive almost felt like I made up the 15$ I paid for the membership.

I wish I could leave zero stars. The change of management is very evident. The wait times are atrocious, due to being absurdly understaffed on a Friday night. The employees were inattentive and lethargic. Many employees simply wandered mindlessly behind the counter as the line was going out the front door. The front lobby was littered with trash and spillage, and they did away with the popcorn stations on either side of the drink dispensaries. I quite enjoyed the previous Carmike Management. They knew how to run a theater. AMC? Two thumbs way down.

The theater is in a nice condition, looks new, good location and all. But the quality of their projectors leaves a lot to be desired. The refresh rate is under 60Hz (I cant focus on anything when the camera pans across landscape or whatever is in view) and the detail is atrocious. Im watching a movie that JUST came out and I feel like Im looking at an original tube TV or watching a YouTube video set to 420 or whatever. Ive been to cheaper theaters with much better quality screens. Meh.

If you arent going to a movie in Big D then you chance getting a theatre with poor sound proofing. If you are next to a particularly action packed film then good luck hearing dialogue for your film. I was also told they were going to work on fixing this and they still had the same problem a couple months ago. You are probably better off going to the Carmike 16 unless you plan and going to a Big D showing which is probably the best experience within 50 miles of Jacksonville.

The theatre has three lines: Premier, Express (Fandango) and regular attendance. Tonight, Express did not move at all for about 10 mins. People who came in at the regular line were served much quicker and were admitted before most of the Express line. We almost missed our movie. I complained but not much happened until a Marine complained a little louder. How hard is it to designate a ticket seller for each line? Tickets and refreshments should be separate.
