READ THIS REVIEW I have been an aquarium hobbyist for about 15 years. I recently started my first saltwater aquarium and conducted all my business at aquarium world. We made a big purchase at the yearly sale in which all of our fish died. We have already spoken to one of the employees about the problem and didnt expect anything back in terms of a refund. Yesterday my wife simply asked the owner about the fish dying and his response was "ITS NOT OUR JOB TO BABYSIT YOU." I own my own business and I told my wife as a business owner it is our job to educate our employees and answer any questions a customer has to the best of our ability. If I told my customers it wasnt my job to babysit them I would hope they would give me a bad review too. Not only is it unprofessional but it is rude and inconsiderate. We just simply wanted to know if there was something we were doing wrong since the first fish we bought from aquarium world in our saltwater tank are still alive and going strong but the ones we bought at the sale ALL died. Maybe it was too many at once or the wrong food. We just wanted a question answered. Like I said I have spent thousands of dollars at aquarium world but wont spend another cent. I dont feel that me or my wife should be treated this way and I am sure others feel the same way. Just wanted to let anyone potential customers who are planning on asking questions to make sure and do some homework first on GOOGLE so you dont feel like a complete idiot in front of others when spoken to like a child.

Never I repeat never go to this store to buy livestock. I went in to the store to look around since I live close to this location. What a disgrace!! I would say 80% of all the saltwater fish that I saw had ich or other visable signs of disease and infection. Every display tank had fish that were constantly flashing. The recommendations that I heard the employes making to customers were irrational and uneducated. They take complete advantage of the new hobbist and are in the business to make money not educate. It is hard to educate when the store employes are clueless. Like recommending a clown trigger for a reef tank that a gentleman had just setup and also trying to sell him an bubble tip anenome for a aquarium that had been setup for 2 months. The prices of their hardware are twice what you would pay from an internet retailer. That would be fine if it was justified by their selection and knowledge, but the only thing that happens when you come here is get mislead and product forced on you. I ask everyone that is looking at getting into this hobby please spend the time and educate yourself so that you can make rational descisions before stumbling into this pitfall of a store. I had to rate this 1 star because it is the lowest available otherwise it would be a 0. Only thing I could recommend this store for is if you are about to run out of frozen food and are in a pinch, but expect to pay higher prices.

We visited yesterday and can tell you I was not impressed. I had been there years ago and I remember what a nice store it was but it seems run down to me. The first negative thing I noticed was the condition of the huge display tank on the right as it was very cloudy l like a bad swimming pool gets when poorly maintained. I could tell it was a matter of poor filtration or maybe none at all and i can understand something breaking down but how do you let an aquarium get that bad? Especially something as important as the largest display in the store? The only water movement in there was some kind of bubbler and the surface was just loaded with scum with only clear spot being where the bubbles were breaking the surface. There are some nice displays in there I admit and maybe I would bring my children here to visit but thats it because of the exorbitant pricing of everything I looked at. The tanks are sky high and come with Nothing but a tank, no combos here buddy. 65$ for a glass lid? You MUST be joking! No serious hobbyist would ever shop here. You may wow a newbie but thats about it. The final pisser was $2.70 a lb for holey rock! Obviously you think consumers are just stupid. You will never claim a dime of mine. I cant believe you are still in business

Well they have a nice "looking" selection but Ive learned a thing or two about this place since I began shopping here a few months ago. Almost everything is over priced ! They have a 7 day warranty on their fish but guess what, even if you use the warranty you still probably overpaid! I went down the street to petsmart and the SAME FISH (freshwater) were there for almost half the price ! And guess what at petsmart you get 30 DAYS to return ! ! Im not a fan of large chain pet stores but so far Ive had NO problems with petsmart fish but have had to return NUMEROUS fish to aquarium world and one that almost infected my whole tank with ick ! Maybe if their customer service was was better I would somewhat recommend them for marine life , but customer service here is rude and they act like you are annoying them if you want to ask them a question ! Get a clue aquarium world - the community around you has kept you in business and if you treat them like crap they will not continue to support you !

Went to Aquarium World for the first time today. We were shopping around looking for the items we intended to buy when this "know it all" sales guy came up to us. He insulted us by giving us a "lesson" on saltwater tanks. Ive setup many saltwater tanks before but he just assumed we were idiots and treated us as such. If he were trying to educate us on saltwater tanks, I wouldnt be writing this because a lot of people who are new to saltwater tanks may need a little education. No, he was trying to be miser know it all, he was extremely rude and flat out insulted me without giving me a chance to express my experience. I planned on spending thousands on setting up a new saltwater system for a friend, but I can assure you that this store will not see a single penny of my money. Shortly after leaving, I sent over $2k on a system at another store. Lesson for this employee: respect your customers, dont treat them like idiots. They may know a lot more than you think.

Im writing this review after Ive had time to let it all process through. Ive had over the past weeks 3 dragon gobys, 10 zebra danios, and one goldfish die. Now before you say oh well what are your water levels like, my tanks always had near perfect water levels (some minuscule and I mean really barely even detectable ammonia from fish dying). What I find curious is that all my other fish in all my aquariums are perfectly healthy from my angel fish to my plattys Im only seeming to have issues with their fish. Prices are not bad they have some cool sales and their return policy is nice but honestly I got tired of taking dead fish back to the store by 2nd time around. The people who work there are pretty awesome and knowledgeable so there was no problem there. Just for some reason 75% of the fish Ive bought have died so Im a little displeased with that.
