Just went over there the Labor Day weekend. I share with another reviewer - very frustrating. New younger owner took over the older guy who has retired. I got 10 cardinals which were nicely priced ($2 each, so I thought) but then when he fished them out, he included one that seems to be rotting at the tail, so I told him to get rid of it, and he did. The next day, they all died of rotting in various parts of the body. The disease is very aggressive. I feel that the owner knew that the batch he got is infected and yet he allowed them to be sold. Furthermore, I saw in another tank with full of Congo Tetras - mouth rot. He might have got a bad batch from the supplier but then he shouldve responsibly labeled them as infected tanks and treat them. Buy fish there at your own risk!

They have a variety of fish and have an awesome selection, but the reason for only two stars is because we were taken advantage of. We made the mistake of making it clear we were beginner hobbyist and needs hardy fish for our newly cycled aquarium. The gentlemen that helped us told us we could keep Kribensis in a group of three in a community tank. He suggested two male/1 female and a gourami. So thats what we purchased. After doing more and more research it seems that Kribensis are a type of cichlid and are NOT community fish and are supposed to be kept in pairs. So now one male krib is dead and Im skeptical about putting other actual community fish in my aquarium. Lesson learned. They no longer have our business.

Arrived early, wife had doctors appointment nearby. Waiting outside we both decided we were hungry since we had no breakfast and left home early for the 1 hour drive. Left the store front, went next door to Subway, ate, returned and waited until 10:00. I got out of the car and checked the Houston Aquarium Warehouse door, locked. Walked to the fish store, also locked with a miniature font note saying "open at noon due to" I dont remember exactly what it said after that because it really pissed me off that we waited there so long, saw a person do from store to store, left for a few minutes, returned and were screwed over. Im looking for a 125 gallon saltwater system, you wont get my business.

True, if you like discus this guy has a few pretty big ones too. Three or four varieties of 3"+- also....fair prices but I just couldnt get past the unkempt feel algae covered tanks and dead fish enough to drop discus money here. When I askd about some plants I could tell he was pulling prices from the air. I asked about some shrimp he had and his only response was "dont ask me to catch you any shrimp" I asked about buying some rams and he said he wasnt sure if they wanted to come out or not. What do you mean? "Theyre gonna be to hard to catch cuz I fed them an hour ago." O.K. I said and left maybe your experience will be as described in the other reviews.

Very knowledgeable and friendly service from people who obviously care. All fish and plants are healthy and perfectly maintained. They always have a nice supply of live plants, a good selection of freshwater fish and for Discus there is no better supplier in Houston. They always have stunning display tanks to help inspire your next aquascaping project. Their minimalist product line is small but efficient, carrying everything you need without all the snake-oil / "Acme Fish Tonic" clutter. This is my favorite fish store and I gladly drive over 30 miles across Houston to get there.

I drove 30 miles to come here but it was definitely worth it. I really liked the fact that this store is actually about the fish and not the $1000 aquarium set ups. The owner and staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to talk about the hobby. The aquariums are filled with nothing but healthy and very active fish and are obviously well maintained. If your looking for hard to find freshwater fish at a very reasonable price this is definitely the place to go. Great selection of discus and angelfish. I left with two blue angelfish but I look forward to be back again.

Houston Aquarium Warehouse is about a hour drive from our home but the drive is well worth it! Their prices on fish are amazing and just the knowledge they have to give and willingness to help everyone who walks through their doors are worth the drive! Support local and these are the type of owners we must support to keep in business! HAW deserves it! They dont sell fish to make big money, they sell fish because they LOVE it. They have the best discus selection in Houston and also sell a great variety of cichlids with more coming in nearly every week.

Came here to buy Discus. I got 10 discus with different color. All 8 out of 10 fishes died after 1 week. The rest died after another 3 days. I believe they sell sick discus because discus i bought from different places are all healthy. Fish tanks in here are very dirty, that the reason all fishes carry parasites when I took it home. All the fishes got white poop after i took it home for 3 days. The owner is very rude and disrespectful. Please avoid this place.

I called them to ask who their supplier was and where they get there fish. The guy rudely asked me "Why, for what?" I said I was just wondering. Then he said "No!" And wouldnt tell me. It makes me very suspicious that they may be getting their fish from a supplier that has a bad reputation because its a pretty simple question to answer. I wont be coming here to get my fish.

It took me an hour to get there but it was worth it. Kenny was very helpful. I wish I was into discus and planted tank because this is the place for that. Prices are great especially for breeder pair African cichlids. Bought some peacocks and haps and will be back regularly to check on new stock.

John the owner is very down to earth, no frills, no high markup. Willing to order anything you need that he does not have on hand. Smokin prices on powerheads, filters, etc. Worth finding in the maze of storefronts in the warehouse area he is in. Great place to buy from.

The guys at Aquarium Warehouse are the best. Always friendly service and great advice. This is my go to store. Unlike other stores they have fish that you dont see anywhere else, and every time I go its like looking for treasure. They also have popular fish in stock.

Excellent fish shop. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff who are eager to answer any questions. The only aquarium shop I have found that sell almond leaves! Great mom and pop shop for supporting local businesses instead of corporations.
