Generally, I like this place. Normally clean, staff is nice, popcorn is good... Hence the 3 stars. Basically, if its your only option, go. It wont be bad. Its just not good as far as that "theater experience" goes. I still much prefer going to the Woodlands. They are always dialed in there... Even if its a little sticky inside. But heres the real issues, and its shame because I dont think its getting fixed, as it continues to be pointed out by others. 1) The sound - this is the big one for me. This is the 3rd time Ive been to the Grand. I went yesterday to GotG Vol. 2 and once again, the sound is bad. Its never turned up loud enough for that "theater experience" and on top of that, the EQ is set with the treble turned down. The result is muddied effects and muffled voices and the end result is a hard time hearing voices when there is action going on. 2) The lighting - I will concede that this is the first time Ive been there where they actually dimmed to an appropriate level for the movie. That was nice. However, I couldnt see any of the darker scenes in previews because the lights were basically "on". If I had to guess, they maybe dimmed 25% for previews (not to be confused with commercials before volume comes up and lights mildly dim). TL;DR of the review - theater is nice, sound definitely needs work, and someone needs to pay attention to lighting. I will only go there again if time is an issue because of the location.

In Houston there are tons of theaters everywhere, but in Conroe we only really have two options. The easiest one to frequent is The Grand because its a larger theater. But Ive had so many consistent negative experiences there that I really dislike it. There are some EXTREMELY rude and slow people working concession, once I was so angry at how the woman in front of me was treated that my boyfriend had to drag me away before I said something to the brat behind the register. She was sighing and rolling her eyes like it was the biggest inconvenience of her life to wait on a customer. Another time I sat behind a woman who brought her kitten to the movies. And another time there was a dog...but it was in a purse, so it wasnt a service dog. Ive had several issues with people talking throughout the entire movie. There have been issues with people on their phones - talking, texting, taking pictures with the flash... The theaters arent always cleaned very well, and neither are their bathrooms. And as with most theaters, its not monitored when kids are brought into 11 pm (or later) showings of R rated movies with their parents. I guess theres technically not much theaters can do about this...but its still annoying so Ill include it anyway.

The theater is so so. The appearance from the outside looks ok and the screens are normally fine. Some of their seats are (or have been broken) and can get uncomfortable but generally they make some attempt to keep it clean (notice I said attempt) but then again I have never been other than on a matinee during the day by myself. I wouldnt dream of taking a date here. I refuse to go anywhere near their concession stand for a variety of reasons. Also their new 30.06 sign is also terrible. Hopefully they get run out of business for that sole reason alone. I get to discriminate where I do business. The entire theater is over priced particularly for the location but they are a corporate chain and not serving the needs of the local community. Everything from the tickets to the concessions makes this not a friendly place. The ONLY reason why I still every now and again go to this theater at all is because I was given a gift card. After that runs out they will never see me again. Give it a couple of years and this theater will be right up there with the dollar movie theater in terms of being a classy place to go. Thats the direction they have been going and no sign of letting up.

My first visit to the theatre wasnt a very good one. Its a beautiful place. Large foyer and hallways. It looks very nice. We saw a show with our family. It was Mr. Beans vacation. The theatre was about half full. The movie started and ran for about 30 minutes when we all realized that the movie had subtitles, because it was mostly in French. The projector wasnt positioned right, so the whole show, we missed what was being said. I went to the management and explained to them what the problem was. They said they would fix it. I told them that weve all sat there for half an hour and missed what was going on. I went and sat down and we waited. People around me ask what management said. They told me they would fix it. 30 minutes later, people are leaving. I checked again with managment, only to be told they couldnt adjust the projector and that they couldnt refund our money since we had been in there for an hour. Good grief. We left, I wrote a letter to the main office and never received a response. If you plan on going to the movies, avoid the Grande. When you hit them in the pocket book, maybe they will get it.

This theater is very near my home and is very convenient to travel to. However, the theater never showed the movie Sunshine, which became one of my favorite films (only after its DVD release) and played the movie Splice for an annoyingly short period of time, on a ridiculously small number of screens. Any theater that prioritizes the movies "Planet 51" and "Thomas & Friends: Misty Island Rescue" over highly-acclaimed and well-reviewed titles like "Sunshine" and "Splice" needs to reconsider its movie selection process. I understand the need to cater to children, but it shouldnt alienate your other customers. Its a relatively clean theater with sub-par video and audio quality. Often times the audio is too quiet, reflections can be seen from behind the screen, or the video is projected off-center. Ill keep coming back for the convenience, but really, if you have a choice, there are better theaters out there.

i agree with others a i read. the floors are dirty. the bathrooms are gross, the food counters are dirty. the food quality has been way way down. the carpet doesn’t look like it has been vacuumed in week. i used to look forward to getting a theater hot dog there as there were always so delicious. the bun heated just to the warm soft stage, making it a pleasure to eat. now i have to pinch off more than half of the bun because it is hard. the popcorn had a funny wrong taste about it, when this place was new it was such a please to visit and enjoy watching a movie. not so now. i have a reel rewards card, that is how much i like it and planned to go many times in the future. i live in huntsville, and the grand’s seat were so more comfortable than huntsville’s theater. i am disabled and have to sit on the first or at worst second seat.....it makes me sad. b. huntsville

I wanted to make sure I acknowledged what a great job this theater did. I very rarely go to movies but my son is turning three and he wanted to see monster trucks so we went today. The lines were short, the staff was friendly and honestly the trash I did see really did not bother me at all. When the movies was over and we were walking out there was a manager there and he asked if it was just us two and I said yes and he tore off and handed me two tickets. He told me they were very sorry about the mess and they wanted to give us free tickets to come back at another time. I thought that was awesome and on top of it the tickets were for a 3D movie (as the one we were leaving was). That honestly surprised me more than the tickets. I want to say thank you guys for actually providing great customer service!!!!
