If you are a white professional golfer that for some reason wants to play at a crappy course, this is where you go. We chose this course because of its location and its affordable price. BIG MISTAKE. I went into the clubhouse to pay for 2 rounds and a bucket of balls. I asked the guy behind the counter (old man with white hair) if they provide handicap flags for their carts. His reply, "Never have never will." When I asked if they could make an exception for the 90 degree rule he said with attitude, "Stay on the path" After paying, I picked up the cart and took it to my car to load up our clubs. While doing so, a lady pulled up and informed us that we cant have the carts in the parking lot. She told us that since the new management took over they put that rule in place. She was the first and last friendly person we met all day. The driving range consisted of about 8 mats stacked right on top of each other and right next to the 9th green. As we were leaving, our cart was hit with an errant shot from the 9th. Finally our tee time came and we were informed that they had booked 4 groups to tee off at the same time. We had a group of 5 so they split us 2-3. We were rushed off the tee box. After the first hole, the marshall asked that we combine our group to speed up play. We complied. For the remainder of the front 9, we let groups play through as they approached us so as not to hold anyone up. When we made the turn, we stopped so I could get a drink from the clubhouse. As we pulled up, the same old A**hole that checked us in comes storming up to our carts. "What time did you tee off?" We told him 11:20. "Do you know what time it is now?" I asked what the problem was and he said that we were playing too slow. Then he asked how many were in our group. As it was, he was talking to the very same marshall that asked us to group together just before we pulled up. He yelled at us saying that we cant have 5 people in our group and they were an hour behind schedule. My friend asked him point blank if it was because of us. To which he replied that there are too many people out there, playing with too many balls, playing too slowly. I told him that the marshall asked us to group together and that the reason we were later than we would have been otherwise is because we were letting groups play through so we wouldnt hold anyone up. He just walked off... no apology, nothing. I went inside to get a drink and again storms up, "are you part of that fivesome?" Yes, I replied. He demanded to know what I was doing and why we were in the clubhouse and said that we should be on 12 by now. I paid for my drink and went about my business. Through the back 9 we let a few groups play through but were pretty much followed the whole time by someone on the course staff. The one thing I noticed through this whole ordeal was that my group (Indians) and group of african american guys were the only ones they seemed to have a problem with. Collins Hill provided the absolute WORST golfing experience I have ever had. These people are blatant RACISTS. They run a below average course with amazing incompetence. They grossly overbook their tee times and then somehow manage to make it the customers fault that they are behind schedule. IF YOU ARE READING REVIEWS CONSIDERING WHERE TO PLAY IN THE LAWRENCEVILLE AREA, DO NOT PLAY HERE! The only reason Im giving it one star is because I have to.

Lets put it this way, I have never written a review for a golf course in my life. Ive never felt the need to voice my displeasure so avidly until now. Lets start of by this: The people working behind the desk... one man in particular.... older man with gray hair, is the biggest A**HOLE I have ever met! I have never felt so unwelcome at a course in my life! Ive never been treated that way in any business ever. I came there, paid their fees, and in return was talked down to like I was inferior. So after I was treated like an infant, paid, and was walking out to go to the first hole, he gave a nonchalant "You cant play for of the holes because of aeration." This is something I would have liked to have known before I made a tee time and before I paid! The course was an absolute wreck. I couldnt put because it looked like a freakin cow pasture on the green. Divots were everywhere. My ball constantly got stuck in holes in the middle of the fairway! So after I play the 14 holes Im allowed to play, I go back to replay ones to make up for the aerated holes like he said I could. By this time, the place was packed. It was like a Chinese Fire Drill trying to find a hole that I could play. What an absolute horrible experience. I would not have paid 5 dollars to play that course and get treated like I did. I thought Pine Hills was bad- but COLLINS HILL GOLF CLUB is PUTRID! BEWARE!!!

The course is fair. It is definately not worth the price. The greens arent good at all. The sand bunkers are more like caked down mud. The cart paths are bad. The fairways have a lot of bad places that could easily be fixed with a little bit of dirt and effort. It was 41 dollars for the round and a small bucket of range balls. The staff is terrible! We came there with a group of 9, which we had planned with the guys at the proshop two months ago. First of all, the starter wouldnt let the second group go to the first tee box to watch our buddies ahead of us tee off. Second of all, we were playing in a fivesome, and were waiting about 7-8 minutes per hole on the group in front of us. A "guy" came by and said it was against USGA rules for us to play as a fivesome, and that we had to split up into a twosome and a threesome. So, now we had a twosome and a threesome waiting about 15 minutes per hole. I tried to explain to him that it makes no sense, because the decision causes one more hole/green to be occupied, but he didnt understand. We joined back up later and got to enjoy a few holes together. Third of all, dont drive the cart up to your vehicle to make life easier for putting your clubs and stuff in. They have a parking lot golf cart police guy that will scold you for that also. Just a little common sense could make this a nice place to play.

This is not a 5 star course. But, it is a 5 star value (at this time). At the moment, this course is about the least expensive in the area and it is better than other courses in its price range. The price has been lowered due to the work being done so right now it is a bargain. I have been playing it since July.and the course just keeps getting better. A couple of weeks ago, all of the greens and fairways were in great shape. I wish they would shorten the rough around the greens because I have difficulty pitching up from tall grass :-) You may see weeds in the roughs, really torn up sections of cart paths, ground needing repair, etc. It seems that they are working on some of these issues. and the course is very playable. There is still work to be done, but they seem to be doing a good job so far. It looks like they are serious about fixing all of the problems. So, if you only like playing really nice courses, then this course will probably be a disappointment. But, if you play less expensive courses, then get out to Collins Hill. I think you will like it now - even if you were disappointed before. I may regret leaving this review when all of the tee times get gobbled up and the prices get raised! :-)
