Pros: It has new movies Cons: 1) It is the only cinema in town and acts like it 2) Please stop stacking urinals next to each other with no splash guards or privacy dividers!!! If I walk out of a restroom with urine on my pants, Id prefer it be mine instead of forehead-on-the-wall drunk guys. Thanks. 3) Seats are old, with limited legroom, seat bottoms that are narrower than on a budget airliner, arm rests fixed at a height more appropriate for small adolescents, and the arm rests have giant protruding cupholders to further limit leg positioning. While the seatback does recline (or rather rock back), its motion is independent of the seat bottom which feels awkward. Basically come prepared to sit in one position for 2 hours (apparently a few of the 14 theaters have newer/better chairs. I was not so lucky tonight). 4) Theater doors didnt open until 10 minutes before showtime 5) "Showtime" apparently means "PreviewTime." Showtime -when the intro credits started- was exactly 20 minutes after the advertised "showtime" (I guess this is common in California). 6) Concessions are supposed to be high margin, I get that, but Cinemark takes that to excess. Everyone else seemed to sneak in outside food/drink (yes, we can hear you open those containers). I find that shady, but so is charging $5 for a flat sodapop. Enjoy being surrounded by shady people! 7) Cleanliness is subpar (check the nasty soap dispenser). If youre the kind of person that carries around a portable black light, well lets just say bring a large beach towel for a movie seat liner. Popcorn was all over the floor - and this was when the theater was just opened after supposedly being "cleaned" (Staff marijuana smoke break seems more likely). DO NOT wear flip flops or you may find your footwear stuck to the floor a few steps behind you... 8) Alarmed exits? why not let us exit the theater directly once the movie ends? 9) Im sure you paid plenty for your sound system, but maybe try dialing the volume back a bit? My phones db meter reached 112 during the previews (yes, I turned off the phone for the show) 10) This is more about Chico than Tinseltown, but this is a college town and a family town. So dont expect a theater full of well-behaved adults. I think you really need to ask yourself: what are you willing to put up with to watch a brand new movie? Think long and hard... and then assume that Cinemark Tinseltown is going to put you through all of it. Me? Ill wait to catch the next one on netflix... Update: Added 1 star after being dragged back in to see IT, which was playing in one of the upgraded XD theaters. The seats in the XD are newer and have folding arm rests. Additionally, you can reserve specific seats so you dont have to get there early and sit 40 minutes before the actual showtime.

Small theater with only 14 screens. The IMAX 3D though is pretty sweet with the upgraded seats that recline and extra cushion. It was hard to focus on some on the special effects though and hard my eyes a little when I seen the new Harry Potter in December. It is nice though when you wait a week after movies come out and you pretty much have the place to yourself. With the limited 14 theaters you cant always wait too long or they will not be showing the movie. Staff are nice as well but the guy I purchased the tickets from seemed as if really didnt want to be there. I guess he just was having a bad. Anyways for being the only multiplex in town their #1 in my book. Seriously though I do enjoy going there.

My family and I often go to Cinemark Theaters. Overall, it a great experience. The problem is the movie trailers and some of the movies are played way too loud. It has to be close to 100 decibels. I and other patrons have complained and if you leave the theater and ask an employee they will reduce the sound. Why should patrons have to risk hearing loss in order to view a movie? The XD movies are even worse where they have speakers about four feet apart. Is it any wonder that many young people have hearing loss? As business owners they should feel a moral sense of responsibility to the community in which they serve. Perhaps, they really dont care what their patrons think!

Never had a bad time there and that staff is top notch! Newer 3D projectors is a plus. Also the XD is awesome and the seats are the best in the area. Concessions prices always suck at a corporate theater but the Dollar Tree is literally 50 yards away. Arcade is ok, lots of problems with the games but if you just want to kill some time before/after a movie its not bad. Peak hour pricing sucks but anything before 4pm is a good deal and if you go on tightwad Tuesdays then youre good all day.

This place is dog s#!& they have 5 people working there and 1 person selling tickets so it takes a half hour to buy a ticket when theres 3 people who work there standing around doing nothing while 1 person sells snacks and 1 person sells tickets. I dont want to buy a ticket at a touch screen machine after a bunch of other people have pawed it with their dirty hands. The new xd 3d room is cool but tinseltown is overpriced for the sub-par service they provide.

its ok...... its no arclight cinema.... even though they charged me $15.00 to see ultron in XD 3D thats what tickets in L.A. @ the arclight go for. The difference is they have better food, more theaters, your seats are assigned, (so you dont have to show up early to get the seats you want) and the actors themselves show up from time to time to do the intro..... its the best your gonna get in Chico though so enjoy......

Terrible.i would honestly say elder abuse..a senior citizen with only 1 kidney was denied Bathroom use ..standing in line waiting for staff to remove strap for entrance..1 gentleman had to go to restroom staff would not allow,,.he had to go across the street..seriously..FYI he paid 65.00 for tickets..plus another larger sum for food..taking his grandchildren to the movie.

I went to this theater not to long ago, thinking that it was going to be like any other movie theater was going to be messy and have half ass staff but it didnt. The staff was really friendly, the place felt really nice and cool during the hot weather, the theater was clean. I feel the staff takes good care of the theater and the experiences of their customers.

Took my 6 year old to see Trolls, they no longer have Booster seats. They have a cheap plastic square bucket that your kid sits on. It doesnt fit in the seats. My son spent the movie on my lap becathis seat kept folding up on him, scaring him. Waste of money on his ticket because he didnt get seat.Horrible!!

Comfortable theater. Nice staff. Only negative is that action movies are played so loud you can her them in adjoining theaters diminishing the experience. Movies are played too loud in general. Ill be using my dB meter to see exactly how loud it is next time. My 5 year old even complains its too loud.

Great service from employees, theater was clean, and I really enjoyed the movie. The reason I did not give it a 5 star was because this is the third time I have been here and the womens bathroom towards the back of the building always smells bad, is very dark, and half the stalls are out of service.
