Sadly this use to be the nicest theater in Memphis but now its stuck in time, run down, smells like urine in the 2 rooms weve been in. Almost every other major city has VIP theaters now and certainly has competition with a variety of brands to choose from such as, AMC, Cinemark, Regal, Studio Movie Grill, iPic, Movie House, Cobb, Rave... Just to name a few most of which have reservation reclining seats for the same price I pay to step back in time here in Memphis to ancient run down theaters that are 15-35+ years old. Paradiso hasnt been renovated since it opened in like 2004 I believe. Whats up Memphis? Why does every other city have choices but Memphis is held hostage by a movie company that is old and out of touch. Theyre website is the worst Ive ever seen. Its awful and they dont have an app?? Insane I visited some family last Christmas and saw a sign for yet another malco headed out to Fayette, the signs been there for at least two years saying new theater coming, still nothing... Other cities renovate and pop up new theaters in a few months. Its called competition, its healthy and needed. Im in shock that you guys dont demand more. The only time I have to go to am old traditional movie theater is when Im in a small town and when I visit family in Memphis. You connect the dots... Id give it zero stars if I could. VIP theaters explained: They Range from having amazing food bright to you by servers throughout the movie you can buzz them for a refill or something else on the menu. Or they offer higher end food you pick up on your way to your seat which is always a big comfortable recliner. The seats are always reservation regardless if you book online or just walk in, you pick your seat and its yours. No more showing up wondering if youll be on the first row or smashed in the middle with no room. Memphis! You need to stop being a small town stuck in the 90s !!!

Their popcorn has to be the worst I have ever had - it is full of hulls and it is stale. The Paradiso building is good however all the other Malco theaters need to be bulldozed to the ground. They are old and their seats are from the 1950s and the screens are too small to be paying full price for, they should be charging 1/2 price for their small screens and crappy seats. Also they do not allow concealed carry so the next time a nut job shows up and starts to gunning down innocent people there is no law abiding and trained citizens there to protect anyone. The nut job just has a field day killing people with no threat to him. It is just an invitation for disaster. That place scares me! I use to go to the Warren theater in Oklahoma City/Moore and they allowed concealed carry just not open carry and I felt much safer there. I know this is not something we want to have to consider when going to a movie with your family but it is just that our society has gotten to the point that you have to protect yourself your family and other law abiding citizens everywhere you go and the nut jobs always go to the theaters that do not allow people to protect themselves and their families.

I left Jackson on my motorcycle yesterday to search for a DDR machine in Memphis. Out of about 4 places I looked, I only found one here, which was great until I found that in order to play, I had to buy a movie ticket. Since I was already there, I went ahead and bought some random ticket and then went in the back and played. I later talked to a/the manager and tried to reach a compromise if there were any plans about changing this policy. All I got was a "No,Sorry." And I would easily spend more than a ticket every visit(probably 2). If there was some way to play without buying a ticket, theyd see me many weekends spending money in their arcade. Instead, Ill be spending twice the travel time to go to Nashville. With a motorcycle, it make more financial sense to spend 2 more gallons of gasoline getting to Nashville and playing an extra song or two than going to Memphis to buy a ticket. The parking lot was also very crowded on what seemed like a non-busy day. And all of the employees dialogue was scripted and insincere.

Ive lived in Memphis for little over a year now. Malco has been the Memphis standard; setting the bar low and occasionally just meeting expectations. In the West, the moviegoing experience is a blast: IMAX galore, proper 3D screens, and sound that dwarfs the afterburner of an F22 fighter jet. But in Memphis, you can expect to be less than wowed 87% of the time. My wife and I are new parents that rarely see each other because of our alternating shifts. When we can share an evening, we usually make the most of it by going out. Tonight we were turned away because our son is younger than three and GOTG Vol. 2 is PG-13......... We drove to be on time. We were on time, money in hand. My wife noticed the sign, and we were refused tickets with an unapologetic grin. Forget this sorry theatre and their pointless, inconvenient policies. You can shove your overpriced tickets and $7 domestic beers where you keep your sensibility. Memphis, youre being bullied by this garbage theatre. Demand AMC and IMAX.

My wife and I attempted to watch a movie on its final week at the Paradiso (we always avoid opening nights--just not our thing). New to Memphis and in the neighborhood, this seemed like a logical choice. Alas, this was undoubtedly the worst movie-going experience weve had to date. Yes, it was a Saturday evening, and we understand that it is busy. However, the inability of the theater to control a) the mob outside, and b) the constant interruptions in the theater itself made this an experience we never hope to repeat. While one cant necessarily fault a business for the depravity of its patrons, we certainly have higher expectations when shelling out the $$$ to see a film. Ive rated it below average (as opposed to poor) only because the staff was forthcoming with a refund.

Looking for an afternoon opportunity to take a break during the day and get in an action, drama, comedy...you get the picture - movie; well, check out the Paradisos matinee and remember to get your popcorn, drink and sweet treats then kick back and enjoy the movie. I went on this particular day to catch Atomic Blonde, it was OK, I debated the merits with my friend as we discussed the differences between it and Salt...my preference. Honestly, either one, since they depict strong action oriented women are pretty good but for me, Salt was lets say a better format. The theater itself was nice this time of day and there wasnt much chatter so you actually got to hear the movie! Stop in and catch yourself a good movie and enjoy the friendliness of the staff!!!

The staff was rude. Anna especially was rude! Everyone in the "box" had attitudes. I came for an event and i was ONLY 15 mins late for the movie. I understand they were doing their jobs in the beginning but when i asked the first time for someone to go in an ask my party of i could join they said they couldnt....Even after i got in touch with my party, showed Anna at the box the texts, she still insisted on calling the manager to see if she could "let me in." No was what they said. But heres the twisted part. There was another person who was late and she came with her family, she begged one of the ladys to to get in and the lady said "I would but... (glances at me and my friend)." I was so upset that made me feel very uncomfortable and not welcomed.
