Last night, Jan.17, 2015 my marriage partner of 23 years and I were treated HORRIBLY at a restaurant on Sanibel Island, a place we love. The restaurant, Traditions on The Beach singled us out while we were on the dance floor (we were the only same sex couple there) and told us "Not to dance this way; we are a family restaurant." Well, we were slow dancing and the man who approached us on the dance floor was the owner. Appalled, shocked and humiliated we left the restaurant immediately, even though our waiter tried to comfort us. Obviously we will never return to this restaurant and we are concerned for any other LGBT couple who may be attempting to have an enjoyable evening at this establishment. We are in our 60s and we have NEVER, EVER been treated this way.

Not a good experience. The promise for a nice evening ended shortly after we were seated. Service was slow and spastic, the waiter came across with an attitude, the menu had the happy hour fair and my wife was told "its too late for that", the crispy tuna was refrigerator cold, but nicely presented. The warm spinach salad was OK but overpriced for what I got. Refills on tonic were charged, which doesnt happen at other restaurants on Sanibel. The bill had two coffees charged when only one was ordered. We had a very similar meal the next night in Valdosta for half the price.

Excellent food, good waiters, and live music !!! Ordered the enter cut mignon and it was delicious. We also ordered lamb chops and were also delicious. I usually find something wrong with the restaurants I visit, but I have nothing bad to say about this restaurant. I will recommend this restaurant to anyone, you wont go wrong and you wil have a good time.

1 star, only because I cant give negative stars Horrible Horrid service Bad food Waiter showed up 4 times in an hour and a half After we left, we were waiting at valet, so I decided to call and complain, the owner? Paula (a man) came out and verbally attacked me for complaining Ridiculous If u go, I warned u!!!

We actually returned for our last night and danced til it closed. We will see you next year. Best restaurant on Sanibel. From cocktails to coffee and dessert, superb! Great atmosphere, great service, delicious food. Live entertainment and dancing make for a wonderful experience. We will definitely eat there again.

We stayed at the Island Inn. The hotel was great. Traditions the restaurant on the other hand was mediocre. The food was not bad but overpriced and the service was slow. In defense it was a holiday weekend but Im not sure its any better other times of the year.

The wine, dessert, beach, and music are great which is why Im giving this place 3 stars! The food not so much. Overpriced, underseasoned, undercooked. Im a foodie so I was extremely disappointed with the food. I will definitely come back, just not to eat.

We too were planning to go to Traditions, but homophobia doesnt sit well with us. It doesnt matter if other patrons complained or if this is a personal prejudice of the owner, bigotry is bigotry and well be spending our time and money elsewhere.

My favorite restaurant on the island, lump crab and veal dishes melt in your mouth. Martinis are dry and the atmosphere is "old Florida", I love this place. Its a must visit restaurant every time Im on the island. Truly an enjoyable evening.
