Fish hut completely screwed me last week. I hired them to move my 90 gallon and on my moving day they just never showed up or returned my multiple phone calls even though I had booked it over a week in advance and confirmed the day before and the morning of the move with both Andy and Steve. After all that they never even called me back with an explanation or to let me know that they were going to be leaving me high and dry. I even called the store and calmly asked them to have someone let me know if they would not be coming so that I could try to make some other accommodations and they couldnt even be bothered to call me back at all. I ended up having to take $100 off my new tenants first monthly payment for the inconvenience. I would not shop at Fish Hut again based on the way they treated me. Its a shame because I really liked their store at first, but the way I was completely blown off as a customer is just unacceptable. They also sold my buddy some shell dwellers that were supposed to be a pair at their anniversary sale, and they turned out to be 2 males. For anyone who is about to move their big tank, I ended up hiring Dane and Nick from "Fishfellas" who were outstanding. They actually cut their atlantic city trip short to come help me clean up the mess Fish Hut left me in.
BEST Fish Store that I have ever been to! I visited a lot of fish stores while setting up my aquarium and the Fish Hut is by far the best. The entire staff, especially John jr and Kyle, are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. They helped me with every aspect of setting up a healthy tank before selling me fish. The store is stocked with everything you could possibly need at a very competitive price. I have learned a lot from the staff and you can tell that they genuinely care about your tank and want you to succeed. HUGE SELECTION They have an endless selection of healthy fish in all sizes that are reasonably priced. All the fish that they have sold me to date (20+) have been healthy and are now thriving in my tank. It seems like they continuously cycle in different types of fish as they are available, so each time you visit there is something new. If you are looking for something specific they will take your name down and call you when it comes in. These guys are passionate about what they do and it really shows. My highest praise goes out to The Fish Hut. Keep up the good work!
It saddens me to have to write this review. I used to love going to Fish Hut. It used to be a great store. Over the past month, the store has declined so that it seems to be a completely different place altogether....... A few weeks ago, I went to Fish Hut to buy some rare fish. Upon walking in, the guy at the counter told me that "no one would be able to help me for at least an hour." I was asked if I could wait that long to be helped. Upset, I left. I went back a few days ago, to give Fish Hut "another chance" and it FAILED MISERABLY. Not only was there no one to help me again, but there were dead fish on the floor!!!! The place was filthy, and as I walked through the aisles, I noticed that many tanks of fish were INFESTED WITH ICK (a fish disease that is very contagious.) I was disgusted. This place has downhill quickly. Clearly, something is very, very wrong here. I WILL NEVER BE RETURNING.
Update on my review: i just spoke to the owner and he could not have been more polite and helpful. He helped me in picking out fish to replace the ones i did not get. He is a real class act. i just discovered fish hut about two weeks ago but was disappointed to learn that it was over an hour away from where i live. however, i decided to make the trek out there.... BOY AM I GLAD I DID!!!! the selection of african cichlids is amazing. the fish are all labeled correctly and many even have the collection point labeled. the fish all seemed healthy and the ones i bought (white labs and plecos) are thriving. As amazing as the fish are, the staff is even better!!! they were patient and answered all my questions. they gave me as much time as i required and never made me feel rushed. All in all this was the most pleasant experience i have ever had at any fish store!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my husband and I recently for the first went to Fish Hut of NJ, whom we nevr heard before. While shopping at a pet store, we met a customer of yours who is a loyal customer and recommend we check out your business. OMG...we were so pleased we did, first your staff was very knowledgeable to African Cichlids which we just set up our 150 gallon tank for. In choosing the fish we wanted 2 of, he fished the fish, and did not like the look of one. He proceeded to segrate this fish, and retrieve a new one. My husband was so impressed that your staff member put the customer first in the sale of healthy fish. We ended up buying 2 pairs of African cichlids, and supplies to support their environment. Whether your are a novice or experience fish lover, this is now the store we will recommend, Fish Hut of NJ. We love your store, staff and will be a repeat customer for life.
I live 2 hours away from this store. I had called and spoke to Jim and John senior. Both were extremely helpful. They went as far as take a picture of the frontosa tank they had so I could be sure that they had what I wanted. They put the fish on hold for me. I took the ride up there 2 weeks later, and let me tell you this store is great. The selection and quality of fish is great.. but what really has me a customer for life is their customer service. John junior helped us when we arrived and I ended up buying 2 more fish then I was expecting. He patiently got the fish I wanted and even vented it to determine its sex for me. At the register we were checkout by the ower Rich who wanted to make sure our experience was top knotch. You wont find many places like this. 4 hours in a car round trip... Couldnt be happier, cant wait to do it again.
Dont let their selection fool you. They dont guarantee their saltwater fish. I bought 2 Clownfish on Sunday and put them in a quarantine tank. I fed them the next day, one fish ate and one didnt. The next day, the fish that didnt eat had a fungus on him. He was dead 2 hours later. I am now treating the other fish in the hopes that it doesnt die. I called the store and they told me there is a 24 hour guarantee on freshwater fish and no guarantee on saltwater fish. So I am out the $20 that I paid for a fish that died 46 hours after I bought it, the $23 that I paid for the medication and I am hoping that I wont lose another $20 for the second Clownfish. That was the second time I was there and the first time I bought any fish from there. I will not be going back. Thanks a lot Fish Hut.
