A woodland escape in the middle of Seattle I lived right next to Ravenna Park for over a year and it may have been my favorite part of the neighborhood. The park has some open field space on one end and follows a gorge a little over a mile to another area of softball fields on the east end. The gorge is heavily forested with a gravel path suitable for running and biking along with numerous dirt paths up and down the sides of the gorge for running or walking. I spent many an afternoon taking a jog through the park or hanging my hammock up in the sunshine between trees near the fields and playground. The really amazing thing is that in the gorge the sounds of the roads and neighborhoods are blocked out and all you hear is the trickle of the brook and the wind in the trees. It really feels like you could be a hundred miles from the city in the Cascades yet you are only steps from great neighborhoods of University District and Green Lake.

Ravenna park is so lush and green, when strolling through, I often wonder if I have been transported to the Cretaceous period. There are so many paths that take you to unexpected places, like the pair of wooden pedestrian bridges that connect 61st Street with 60th. Speaking of bridges, take a walk over the 20th Ave bridge, which is closed to car traffic, and see the birds and squirrels play in the tops of the trees. There is a great open space and playground at the western end (technically this is Cowen Park).

I love Ravenna park. There are some great trails that run over little creeks under trees that are usually dripping with rain water. Pretty easy walking if you stay on the main trails, but there are some steeper trails running up the side of the ravine if youre looking for that. Bridge that runs over the top is a nice place to stop and look out over the park.

Hidden gem adjacent to the U-District, Green Lake and Ravenna neighborhoods. This park has a little bit of everything. Playgrounds, restrooms, pavillions, trails, streams and ample parking. If you want to escape the madness of Green Lake this is a good option. If youre a dog owner be mindful that the city does patrol this park. Keep your dogs on a lead.

This is a really nice place to stroll, bike, run, relax, etc. The tall trees, stream, abundant ferns and the ravine geography really isolates you from the city. Its a nice escape with beautiful scenery. The two bridges crossing the ravine are also impressive. Hike up to the pedestrian only bridge for a cool vantage point of the park.

Amazing place to run/walk through. Plenty of small trails to go down and explore. Recently a lot more homeless have taken up residence but theyve all been friendly and stay out of the way. In the winter it gets dark a lot earlier in the park due to it being somewhat of a canyon with loads of tree cover. Go early or bring a flashlight!

Great park, makes efficient use of its space with lots of little trails for a good variety of paths to explore. There do appear to be a few encampment and a bit of trash but all in all a nice urban park. Did receive a warning that there may be coyote so keep a leash or an eye on small pets.

Ravenna Park is great! It feels like youre not even in the city! Its great for a (very short) bike ride or stroll. I didnt see any homeless people while I was there. It wouldnt surprise me if there were a couple living in there though... if I were homeless, Id live in Ravenna park!

This is part of Ravenna Park which is a great wooded run in the middle of the city. Its all one slow, minimal hill though that goes downhill from west to east - so plan which way you want to do first. Also, if youre looking for a longer run, close to the Burke, so you can keep going.

Surprisingly wild and green little gorge in the heart of the city. It has several paths that run the length of the park, and you can use one of them as a shortcut when biking from the Burke Gilman trail up to Cowen Park. Nice and cool year round.

Great place to relax during the summer or ride, run and do a picnic. We had a large group of friends and had a BBQ here, it was amazing because its very spacious with ample parking. A very good place to unwind, I highly recommend it.

A bubbling stream, intertwined trails, birds chirping, thick forest like patches of nature... Fantastic park to visit any time of the year. No parking lot but plenty of street parking all around this rather large neighborhood park.

Beautiful hidden treasure. Its so easy to go right past this beautiful ravine and miss it. Lots of trails, a tiny meandering river, tall trees and quaint pedestrian bridges make this a great inner city find.

Pretty open and simple. Its good for a single person working out or enjoying lunch. Id expect more parking on both sides for this big place. Very expensive to RSVP it for a party though.

Id always seen this park, but didnt realize how big it was until I actually visited it. There are lots of trails behind the main grassy play area, great to explore and get some exercise!

We dearly love this neighborhood park. It has it all... trails, nature, water, playgrounds, level paths, steep paths and fields. In the summer it is cooler than anyplace in town.

I went here to have a picnic and almost got lost coming back (in a good way). You really feel like youre out of the city, so many cool paths and things to do. I would recommend.

Its a quiet lovely park. I didnt explore much aside from the playground and surrounding fields, but the tiny animal sculptures were an unexpected and welcome touch.

Happened to hike across the park yesterday Saturday, the trees are originally there for you to admire, amazing and various. A not big but rather attracting garden.

Bums and needles everywhere. Bunch of kids using drugs there that the city cant give shelter to. Cant believe theres so many camps there. What a health risk.

Couldnt believe that there is such a green treasure of a park in a residential neighborhood. Hope the residents continue preserving this wonderful place!

There are often many offleash dogs and they are ill trained. Not all of them are poorly responsive, yet the owners are bitter and speak nastily.

This park is always clean and has a surprising amount of depth to it. The trails wind through the trees and make for a beautiful leisurely hike.

A beautiful forest park with trails. We had a potluck and the organizers reserved tables. There were trash and recycling bins.

Love love love. Beautiful as can be - youll get the bottom of the ravine and be like "am I still in the city?" Its amazing
