A unique park with a Halprin design,(an architech known and studied world wide), it is the first park ever to be built over a freeway. This park was originally designed to unite the First Hill community with downtown after the expanse and large gap of the I-5 corridor was constructed. The park has four fountains, three of which recently had serious upgrades. The largest fountain is 27,000 gallons and is located and designed to drown out all freeway traffic noise on the Central Plaza, the largest plaza of the park. All of the fountains are in operation March - September, some later into the year. The landscape is beautiful with expanses of turf, lovely shrub beds, lots of places to sit and annual color displays! The dedicated Seattle Parks and Recreation staff are there 7 days a week to make sure the park runs smoothly. Go and explore Freeway Park , all 5.3 acres of it, and surprise yourself with one of Seattles best gem parks!

Good: * comprised of multiple levels perpendicular sidewalks, the entire pathways system itself is a worth of art with the visitors being infused into the city-block-wide masterpiece * fountains and walls are constructed with random cubes of concrete almost with a Frank Lloyd Wright inspiration * with expressways tunneling under, the park covers up what could be an intrusive eyesore Cautions: * some areas have graffiti and people hanging out that appear to be waiting to conduct illegal business (that was my vibe, sorry if Im wrong); this is not a reason to stay away, just use good judgment and stay in areas with higher foot traffic This is not a destination park, but if in the neighborhood, its a great place to relax or walk through.

Every time I walk through here I feel like doing Parkour with all structures, and then I realise, wait, Im going to hurt myself, Ill just look at it instead. TIP: theres a Tunnel from Rainier Square that outputs right at the Convention Center. SO if you are in the Financial district and heading towards Captiol Hill, or the edge of the shopping district, like Game works, you can do this short cut and save yourself 5 to 10 minutes, instead of waiting at all the cross walks.

I walk through this park almost every day. Its VERY well manicured for a city park. Its really a breath of fresh air walking through there instead of walking up 6th Ave or something. I wish the fountains were working more. Its been two years since Ive seen them all on. Sometimes a lot of people are sleeping under 8th Ave overpass, but Ive never been hassled in the park. Continue on through the Convention center to make your way all the way from Seneca to Pike.

Dirty, urine smelling, poor maps. ADA compliant only in the imagination of the architect and construction company who wasted money on this incredibly unfriendly public space. Greenlake, Seward Park, Golden Gardens are all better places to go than this monument to big ideas without any soul. Skip it.

Expansive, fairly isolated park with a maze of fountains and interesting architecture and landscaping. Great place to find a little nook and hang out for a while. Sure there are homeless people here, but theyre enjoying the park as much as you are. Its Seattle! No need to worry.

Seattle has a public organization that hosts free events at the park during the summer. I recently went to the park to watch a quintet and have a from BBQ. Great spot, especially if there is music to cover up some of the noise from the freeway.

It has always been my favorite park in Seattle I have always turned tourists on to it every chance Ive gotten to and I have always had a massive appreciation for the diversity and the artwork and the other facets of this beautiful creation

a little hidden gem in the city---not huge, but still surprisingly sprawling considering its literally on top of I-5. Dont miss walking through the stormwater control area---Id love to see it when its actually raining outside!

It would be so much nicer if Mayor Guilliani paid a visit and worked his wonders here. If events are going on at the convention center its fine but otherwise you encounter a lot of homeless drug abusers all times of the day.

This is a fantastic place to relax in the middle of the city. It stretches over several city blocks and over the highway, yet seems worlds away. In the summer you can find lots of free music, dancing, even outdoor movies.

Underrated - this urban park is an architectural wonder with a dozen entrances and exits to get around the city, waterfalls, access to the convention center, and countless nooks and crannies to explore.

The ciopino (not sure if I spelled it right) was too sweet and crab was not fresh. They probably used the least fresh ingredients for this dish. The grilled halibut was dry and relatively tasteless.

Parque muy bonito, un poco laberíntico, de hormigón, lleno de cascadas artificiales

Sshh. Dont tell anyone about this big, but hidden sanctuary by downtown. Great place to escape the bustle that surrounds it. Im going to a free Jazz performance there this afternoon.

Love this quiet oasis in the middle of downtown Seattle. Great place to escape from the convention center, to walk through, or eat your cheesecake from cheesecake factory.

Nice little park above the freeway. There are some interesting folks that spend their day here but non make you feel unsafe. Nice way to get trough this area of downtown.

This park is an interesting use of space. There are different sections and tiers of the park to explore. Its also a place where some homeless people wander around.

For parkour this is one of the ultimate training grounds. Percision, balance vaults, intense gaps. Its your thrillride. Play safe and bring a few friends.

Interesting architecture to this park. Occasionally theres live entertainment. Some "undomiciled" but theyre harmless and keep to themselves.

Great during the day, so so over nights. I have been coming here a lot back in the days, it really changed since then, and just for the good.

Great park, but has a lot of homeless folks. Not their fault, so much as a symptom of our current economic situation. Closes after dark!

Beautiful hardscape waterfall design. It will literally take your breath away and leave you with a sense of peace and tranquility.

Right off the convention center. Typically filled with homeless, drug users, and dirty. Avoid unless at the convention center.

Seems small and kind of sketchy. I didnt want to be there in the evening. Otherwise in day should be cute.
