Today was my last day to visit the off leash dog park @ Jose Rizal. The steps from the street to the trail gate entrance is now a super-highway for the homeless, who have moved back into the woods just below the park. They have broken the latches on all 5 gates and I have seen dogs escape from the park this week 6/16/17, 6/19/17. Today, a homeless man carried 2 mattresses down the steps and over the broken-down fence, over the trail and into the woods. On these last 2 visits, I have seen 2 different men, stripped down to their underwear, bathing at the water faucet. On 6/16/17, there was a homeless man sleeping in a bushy area inside of the dog park itself; one of the dogs was barking at him so he got up and left. It appears the the homeless are taking over this area quickly. Its no longer safe for your dog (gates not secureable) and a persons safety may also be at risk. Be very cautious if you go.

I do like coming to this park a lot. These photos must be the 10th set I have of the same pictures. I honestly believe it has one of the best views of the city, along with Kerry Park at Queen Anne and Lincoln park in West Seattle. Im only disappointed that because of its south location, and the proximity to the homeless enclave known as "the jungle" it isnt given the same kind of touristy respect as the other locations. The history is also overlooked since the layout of the park itself is strange, in that the namesake Doctor of the park is further up, where his bust and the plaques wont be noticed. Im glad however, that it is fairly well maintained and still taken care of, with an active dog park just south of the bathrooms. Its also fun seeing couples and local tourists come by in their cars to enjoy the view. A true Lovers Point in Seattle.

Really awesome views, but a pretty rough crowd. This classic photographers spot comes with a warning - dont go without a friend. Drug deals and some pretty awful language are abundant from the characters who hang out here, and be prepared to inhale whatever is being smoked. However, if you can stomach the crowd, youll have one of the best views of downtown Seattle around. For photographers, also check out the bridge, but dont take shots when the busses cross as it will shake your tripod!

We had dim sum nearby and here for a refreshing walk. It does have great views of downtown and the I-90 termination at I-5. Next time we will walk down the hill and explore there. You can reserve the shelter, picnic tables and barbecue pits. We did that once at Alki Beach and had a memorable party. As my wife observed, there is not much to do here. You would have to bring your own amusements. there is a mini-jungle gym for small kids.

This park has a wonderful view of the citys skyline, but its small and narrow. Pay special attention to the traffic. Many cars & trucks zoom by as if the drivers are frustrated with their lives. Theres limited parking but once you find one its better to take a short walk on the 1/4-mi. bridge for an unobstructed view of beautiful Seattle.

WARNING DANGEROUS! ALOT of homeless people was hanging out in the park, none of them had dogs. While there I noticed alot of garbage around the park area. And some one had dumped a bottle of pills out on the walk area and left them along with a just needle. Between the garbage and homeless people.. its not the place for me dogs.

This is a great place to come with friends and taking pictures of the city. Wait until its almost sunset, and grab your camera! If you leave the exposure long enough, youll catch some enchanting pictures. There is also a dog park here. Most people pick up after their dogs, but sometimes you just have to be careful!

Usually not too busy, and its a long enough park that my somewhat nervous dog has space to get away from more boisterous dogs. She loves to sniff the entire length (there are rabbits that pass through!), and once shes done shell start playing with her friends that go too.

Its not a bad park and the views are stunning, but like others have noted, it could use some tlc. Four stars because Im Filipino-American; and I think any park that bears Jose Rizals name should be great, not just not-bad. Its a cool park with lots of potential.

my friend showed me this spot and I was totally impressed, I love Seatlle parks with views of the city skyline and I had never been to this one even after living here for 14 years

There were homeless camps on the trail, as well as shady people hanging around the park. If you want to get a really good view of Seattle go to Kerry park in Queen Anne.

1 of the 3 best views of Seattle, Kerry park for the space needle, Jose Rizal for the port, Stadiums and I5, Belvedere for a view of Seattle over the sound.

Theres not a lot here except dog walkers and homeless people - until sunset, when it attracts all the photographers in Seattle. Amazing views of downtown.

Very small park with a great view. It has some picnic tables and little playground for kids. It seems to be in close proximity to a homeless encampment.

The dogs love this off-leash park the most out of any park in Seattle. The view is excellent, and they can root around in the brush if they choose

Careful of shady characters in the park... Also, its quite muddy when the weather is not good. Would recommend Genesee park instead for dogs

This is a must see. Quite a view. I want to see the city in the evening or a night. Reminds me of the view of Seattle from the ferries.

Its not really a place you want to spend too much time at, but its the best place to view the city from the south.

Visit at night to get a great photo of city and I-5. Take a long enough exposure to get the car trails.

There are always homeless people hanging out at the covered areas so this park is hardly used.

The views are spectacular, but the park is a bit dirty and not well lit in the evening time.

Great view of downtown and SODO that rivals Kerry Park, but with less people around.
